I think the main thing that has to be factored into star ratings is the relative ability of other players playing similar positions at the club

Not just similar position. You can have a 2,5 star goalie as your best goalie. And your defence will get lower stars if you improve your midfield and attack. There's a lot of wonky stuff going on though. Getting less than 2.5 stars for a starter is almost impossible. And less than 2 basically never happens. Similarly, 5 star players basically doesn't exist. It's like they've made room for the possibility that scout reports and potential to have the possibility of being better than your current best player. KDB is literally the third best player in the game (after Messi and Lewandowski) in CA. But he is still not a 5 star player. And if you cheated him into Stoke or something, he would probably still only be 4.5* (but the rest of the team would likely lose 1 or 0.5 stars).

The star ratings you were seeing were the positional and role ability of the player for their best role. So the ideas of age, registration footedness and other positions didn't affect the scores. If you had checked the actual scout reports you may have seen otherwise.

Technically footedness can affect the rating, especially for positions like inverted wingers/forwards. But in general you are right, some of Zealand's arguments did not make sense as age and the number of positions they can play have 0 influence on the rating. It's simply the rating of their best position.

Weak foot rating absolutely does have an effect on the star rating. But yeah I agree about the age and other positions not affecting it.

That was a real "Jekyll and Hyde" performance from you.

As an avid in-game editor: 1. Star ratings are dependent on relative current/potential ability. Thus, getting a wonderkid with 200 PA will drop the rest of your team's CA star rating significantly. 2. The accuracy thereof also depends on the ability of your scouts/scouting rating of your staff to perceive your players' skill. 3. Being two-footed significantly boosts CA, but seemingly differently depending on the position (it benefits GKs less). 4. Playing multiple positions can actually drop CA, and often does, if a player sucks at a position. Playing multiple positions also doesn't necessarily increase it -- in fact, removing a position can often jack up a player's CA if the removed position was "suboptimal" for his skillset. 5. All the other things they mentioned in the video don't affect the stars.

Well just now I did an experiment where I played Oliver McBurnie up top every game 90 minutes of the season with Man City and he got 23 goals in the season but stayed at 2 stars. I guarantee it that if he does it again the following season he’s still going to stay at 2 stars even though it’s clear that he’s a bloody goal machine

I went 8/10, got Kyle Walker and Fernandinho wrong. If one if not both of Jack and Z didn't go so extreme with Ake and Stones they would've done well

Personally, I’ve always been an olfactory learner. If it smells bad, I avoid it at all costs.

I remember when I was managing a Japanese team on Champ man 01/02 and I changed the currency to Yen. I’m also pretty sure I managed in Italy and changed the currency to Italian lira before they had the euro. 🤯🤯

He's done it every year so far but if he doesn't, the videos he already has should serve well enough

Stars can be confusing sometimes that is why I don't trust the stars. But it really helps to measure how strong and good the player was.

Star ratings confuse me so much. Had a 20 year old cb who was 3.5 stars ability and 5 star potential, then went to 4 both for half a season and then back to 3.5 and 5

Form influences it heavily. If they're in bad form, it often goes down. If they're in good form, it goes up

I’m going to trigger my British comrades, but putting wages in annual terms is the only viable option. Your transfer budget, scouting budget, club finances Player bonuses, tournament price pools, all that is annual anyway so having your wage be anything other than annual just makes it really hard to fully understand the situation. Here’s an example, you’ve got 25,000 in your transfer budget, and 4000 per week salary remaining. How much money do you actually have? Now there is a player who you want to buy who cost 60,000, how much money will you have remaining after you buy that player? If however instead of 4000 a week I said 100,000 a year, suddenly you can do that math in half a second.

Guys I'm in the year 2035 on my chelsea save, question for you experts 😜 I was on a 44 game unbeaten run and the last 4 games I have drawn 2 and lost 2. If u have a team with 160 start and like 18 players in this 160,they all will be 3 star. And ppl who above this will be more stars. Its all calculated on avarage team lvl

Yes, but actually no I experimented with that, getting a team full of 200 ability and 200 potential players, and I changed all players on my youth and reserve team to 150 and 200 potential, I even went as far as using an external editor to apply this to a lot of different teams, nations, age groups, etc., Making every u-20 in the world have 149 CA and 200 potential Anyway: The star rating on the youth and reserve team actually varied, ranging from 2* to 3*, the potential was always 5* tho, and on the first team EVERYONE had 5* on both. You are right to some extent, but it seems that when they reach a certain ability/when the team gets to a certain level, then certain levels of CA always show(more or less) the star rating A 200 CA player will always have 5*, at least for on FM20 they do

@@adrian225 i got 1st 11 :martinelly, nketia, smt, party, odegor, saka, tirney, Gabriel white tomiyasu, ramsdale. They all ~160 CA, almost all full potential. Ramsdale 158,nketia tomiyasu too, they all shiw as 3 star CA and PA, pino and China pirlo newgen got 180 PA and show PA as 5 star, CA 2,5 pino, 1,5 China pirlo

Haven't watched the videos yet, but aren't the star ratings the subjective opinion off your staff? Edit: meaning that they're probably as accurate as your staff can be at judging, right? Edit edit: also aren't the star ratings related to the players at your club? So you'll always have more 3* than anything?

if you play with others, it allows everybody to be in a currency they're comfortable with while still making sure everybody uses the same information.
