Guess the Language with American Polyglot Tim Doner

Check out the English FluentWorlds app: apps.apple.com/us/app/learn-e...
This video was so much fun to make! I challenged random people to guess which language I was speaking. Some of the languages were alive, but some of them were dead, making it much more challenging. Check out the full video to see how many of the languages people guessed correctly. Play along yourself and let me know how you did in the comments!

Tim Doner, always a shining light in the bleak monolingual American landscape. I hope that one day, when you are so inclined, you'll try this again, using some of your less recognizable Central Asian and African languages but with non-American interlocutors.

Tim - man you disappear for ages and then pop up with awesome vids like this one. Keep posting more! You inspired me to learn languages. Finished B1 in German, Level 1 in Farsi, Turkish and Italian. So I could guess German, Russian and Turkish in this video. Couldnt guess the ones for Babylonian and Hebrew though.

Imagine being Tim and turning on the universal television, how interesting even if the show isn't, it's such an ease he can practically speak to almost 85 or even 90% of the population of the world.

WOW! Tim, I've just listened to a video of yours speaking Hebrew, but that was 12 years ago. In this one, 11 years after, your Hebrew has changed dramatically (for the better, of course) and even your accent is quite good (much better than the one you had 12 years ago...) [If you need any help improving your Hebrew, feel free to reach out]

I got them all right, even though I don’t know all the languages. (I am best in German of all the ones you used, followed by Russian, a tie between Hebrew and Turkish, and Babylonian.) I got Babylonian because I heard “Enkidu” and I even recognized you were saying Gen. 1:1-2 in Hebrew. (I actually already memorized Gen. 1:1 in Hebrew. I also know Deut. 6:4-5 in Hebrew and know how important it is in Judaism, even though I’m not Jewish.)

I’ve studied German and I speak Russian and can understand Spanish to a fair extent. It’s always crazy to me because, once you know a foreign language, you can’t just turn off the ability to understand it. Like, sometimes I’m watching something in Russian or German and I’m just like “wtf I know German” Am I the only one who has these weirded moments?? Lmao
