Malaysian English and Singaporean English are almost the same. We used to be one country, and both countries have the same ethnic groups (mainly Malay, Chinese, and Indian). However, there is no single specific accent for the whole country because it depends on the person's social background. Depending on whom we are speaking to, we will adjust our speech to make it easier for the other party to understand. As Amanda explained, she is Malaysian Chinese but grew up speaking English in her household. So, it's not weird that her accent is not influenced by Chinese. Since American movies and shows are more common here, we actually speak in a more American way than British, even though we learn UK English at school.

It is important to note that the Indian English accent can not be easily stereotyped or generalised . India is linguistically rich and diverse country ,with multiple regions contributing to the overall tapestry of Indian English.India s linguistic diversity is reflected in the various English accents found across its regions .Each area has its own distinct characteristics influenced by the local languages spoken . The English spoken in southern India often carries influences from Dravidian languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam . The accent might include rolling "r" sounds and specific intonation patterns. Northeastern India ,with its with its array of languages such as Assamese,Manipuri and various tribal languages ,English here often features softer tones and sometimes a more rhythmic intonation ,influenced by Tibeto Burman linguistic traits. Northern India, with languages like Hindi , punjabi and Urdu ,tends to have English accents influenced by these languages . Common features include clear enunciation of vowels and certain retroflex sounds. In Eastern Indian states like Bihar, West bengal and Odisha ,English accents may be influenced by languages like Bhojpuri ,Bengali and odia . This often results in softer consonant sounds and unique stress patterns. In Western Indian states like Maharastra and Gujarat where Marathi and Gujarati is prevalent ,English accents might include flatter intonation and distinctive pronounciation patterns . These variations make it challenging to stereotype a single " Indian English accent ", as each region contributes its unique linguistic flavor to the way English is spoken.

Still you can tell who is Indian by their accent 🤷‍♀️ unless they went to international school where they studied in certain curriculum ( British or American) Not trying to stereotype but Indians do have thick accents in few words, neither it’s American nor British, it’s something Indians modified after speaking English for quite some time ( as your school curriculum mostly in English) like V, W, R etc sounds can be easily detected.

@@lakhyasdiary5762 Well, as non Indian who grow up watching Indian content, whether Movies, dramas, interviews etc( I am fluent in Hindi as well) This is what I noticed, People who speak good English in India has a particular accent.( particular words they say are very common) Yes, of course people around the region will certainly sound different. because of their own language but still certain words, they tend to pronounce similarly. Manipur, Nagaland etc people have a different tone (their hindi has this tone as well, because their own language has this tone) In my country, areas like Chittagong and Sylhet have totally different languages which is quite different from Bangla, so when they talk Bangla, you can guess where they are from, because of their tone, they are pronouncing every Bangla word very clearly and properly yet when they gather all the word in a sentence, you can see the tone, you can differentiate the same tone in their English too. They pronounce most English word as they are( USA/ UK) but when they say a whole sentence you can see their country tonality in it.

Unlike the fellow American, I am a San Francisco native 🌁 here. 1:55 That Filipina 🇵🇭 does not sound as if she is from my home state California. I could have spotted that accent on that 1st sentence: I grew up with many Filipinos as well as other ethnicities. 😎 3rd woman 👩 is not an LA girl but a Malay girl! Can't spell Malay without LA! L 🤣 L Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 accent was easy for me: similar to Indian 🇮🇳. All of these foreigners except the Filipina are from UK 🇬🇧 Commonwealth nations. Thus, they learn derivatives of British 🇬🇧 English.

Aye, lads! Ye ken, it'd be a real hoot if we all got together an' changed up the ol' English, ya know? Fer too long, the English-speakin' countries ain't been doin' a bang-up job at speakin' the lingo proper, an' that's just a fact, ain't it? Just take a gander at the Epi/Ef 2023 data, an' y'all'll see what I mean. Now, let's not fergit 'bout our Germanic mates over in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, an' the Faroe Islands. An' y'all know what's a real knee-slapper? Judgin' the English of both Anglophone an' non-Anglophone countries on World Friends an' other Korean channels. It's a real hoot, an' it's fluid, sensible, an' democratic, like. The paintin's are just goin' 'round in circles, with nary a lick o' creativity or science to 'em. It's pure madness an' boredom, an' it's time fer a change. The paintin's need to evolve, not just sit there an' stagnate. It's just not right that countries that can't speak English proper are givin' their two cents on other nations' English. It's not fair or reasonable, y'all know? So, let's give it a shot, lads. We're askin' with all our hearts that y'all change this, an' we'll be yer best mates, like, not just fer this channel, but fer all yer sister channels too.
