GUAVA TREES- Even grow FRUIT IN WINTER? COLD DAMAGE?
Tropical Guava “ psidium guajava” var Mexican Cream seems to be a bit more cold hardy than other guavas in my z9b climate in Northern California. Harvest is almost over... but not quite!

🥭Crazy how hardy this guava tree is in my Northern California garden. Here we are in Mid December and its still fruiting!
Looking very healthy for mid December. Amazing how some trees are so much more cold tolerant than others despite having nearly identical origins. I got a gem avocado seedling in the middle of a new growth flush and I’ve had some frost and temps down nearly to 32 also
Just subscribed yesterday, I love the content! Looking to start my citrus garden with all your great information! Stay healthy and stay with the great content! Its great to see you pass 1000 subs. Stay blessed
Great to know. I planted some seedlings in MD and plan to put them outdoors eventually
Here in Livermore and the guavas are going strong as well (first winter in ground although 5ft each). This video gives me hope that they will see spring again :)
Hi Jeff, I have a 1 year or so old Ruby Supreme Guava in a Pot, I kept inside all winter, its Summer now here in Southern Mississippi, I have it sitting outside in the warm weather now, come Winter time again how cold of a Temperature Drop should I bring it inside again? Can it handle temps in the low 40's ? Your Guava is looking Great.
That guava sure looks great this year Jeff ! Reckon you've had more frosts than me now lol, although I think the temperatures I've had here have been lower, but its been unseasonably mild for the last few days, only hitting low 40s at night and reaching low 50s during the day, that's 5f to 10f up on mid December averages
Thank you for your video. I want to ask why my guava tree have dark yellow color around edge of leaves. Thank you
Very informative bro I am living in North of Pakistan where temperature in winter reaches to -5 to some time -9 can I grow it in this region if yes then how I can find its seeds because it is not available in pakistan plz
Yum yum, I love guava so much
Awesome. Where do you buy the tropical fruit trees from ? I am in Santa Clara, also zone 9B
Jeff have you seen that the Davis area of the Central Valley has a zone 10a? I was just recently looking at California zone maps, fascinating. It makes me wonder why, also what more could you get away with growing in that spot.
Well done!
Couple of questions - 1) How much sunlight are they getting ? 2) In container or in ground ?
Hi Jeff, I imported some seeds from a specific tree I wanted in Mexico and now I have four seedlings would you happen to know when will they start bearing fruit,? Thanks.
I think you just convinced me I need to add this one to my tropical screening border! Btw- when are we gonna get a tour of the rare/marginal palms in your yard!? :)
