This is exactly why so many of us love the first 2 Thief games. These are people, not just NPCs. And this is a place, not just a level.

The voice acting in this game was so phenomenal.

1:33 AAA voice acting, best part of the whole game. This mans rage is real.

The best thing about this is that it might well be Stephen Russell having an argument with himself. He voiced some of the guards in this game. He also voiced the protagonist Garrett, of course, as well as the main antagonist.

When the Thief 2 alpha demo was released, I played this mission countless times, just for this dialog, if nothing else.

The only thing that would’ve made this even better is if you could see Garrett watching in the background XD

No other encounter will ever live up to this one.

Hi everyone. I've got something of an announcement to make - I have now monetised my KZread account. This is something I had always planned to do, but wanted to establish my channel a bit first. I enjoy making these videos and I hope you enjoy them too, but in order to keep it up, I need a form of income to keep me fed and watered. I don't know how far KZread revenue will get me, but I'll give it a go and see what happens. Oh, and for the record, all my previous videos will remain unmonetised. To give you all an overall picture on the type of content I intend to put up on this channel, it'll be mainly animations based on video games. I would also like to be able to make some half-hour pilots of some animated shows, most notably my 'Dogs Of War' series I've been wanting to make for years. I'd like to have a crack at creating a Starfox animated series too, just to give an idea of my ambitions. However these kinds of projects would take a considerable chunk of time and money, so hopefully the support of my smaller stuff will lead to bigger things.

Absolutely hilarious, full marks. I must have watched it five times already, I just can't get over their expressions. I hope you do more from Thief!

I admire your work, i feel tho as if the expressions could have been more exaggerated since the voice acting makes them very expressive while the animation is just holding back a little

This is a great homage paid to an equally great scene! Such a classic. BTW. Regarding the audio - better way to handle this would have been to just use the source audio files from the game data assets.

Brilliant! This was a classic bit from Thief II!

This is really cool and great work by the way. What you could also do is animate the discussion that can be heard through a window by a chap who I believe is called Rothchild someone or other, and how he laments the Bumblesons. That'd be a great animation because you can't see the characters in the game for this, you can only hear their voices, so you have perfect artistic licence.

Thief 1 and 2 are simply two of the greatest games ever made. Works of art on every level. Gaming will likely never again be as good as those title (and stuff like Deus Ex 1)

Amazing. I dig the background noise - adds a nice air of verisimilitude to it!

I don't know if anyone else will remember this by now but there was a "demo" version of Thief 2 which in my case I got from a magazine and it was a preview of this level half way through its creation where this dialogue was slightly different (it's spliced at 37 seconds and what's after that was amongst the original version on the demo)

I hear a little Monty Python in there at the end.

Hi. Me again. I'm at a loss to figure out what project to do next, so I might throw it over to you for suggestion. I have a few ideas but don't know which one to prioritise. The main contenders are a couple more videos based off Thief 2 dialogue, a Zootopia parody, or a series of videos based the main character from the Doom games. Any preference?

I'm always open for suggestion. However keep in mind there's no guarantee that I'll be able to make these. I have my own agenda for this channel and I'm concerned I might end up making a bunch of promises I can't deliver on. But it's nice to hear what you all want to see and it might influence ideas down the road.

@@sorcerykid Drunk guard Benny is on the cards! Another one I wouldn't mind doing is the prissy nobleman complaining he wasn't invited to the Mechanist party (also from the 'Party' level). I'll look at the Bear Pits conversation, but I can't immediately remember where it's from. Which level would I find it in? Of course, any of these would be a while away - I've got an ever-increasing list of projects I'd love to work on and little time to be able to do so. (Boo hiss!)
