I love a villain I can hate. His beatdown almost made me stand up and cheer.

I might get this wrong, but I do love the little look around he does after he kills his own crew. He just looks at the damage, walking and talking slower than before. It's almost like something in his head finally sees he went too far and tells him "okay, you need to stop". He hears that, but he doesn't listen.

Well now you've said it. The world will be so disappointing if we do not see his Brainiac against Corenswet's Superman. I can just imagine the interactions, how powerful Chukwudi Iwuji speaks and how intelligently and coldly he can speak, the debates would be legendary.

I would agree but I would also say Denzel Washington would make a fantastic Brainiac. I see this High Evolutionary as someone who wants complete control as opposed to Brainiac where he has more composure and knows not many can or will oppose him.

I adored this performance in this movie. 3 is the best of the gotg movies by far [and tbh I didn't even like the first 2]. It also shows he's not just pure evil. You feel how desperate and full of rage he is at the idea that he had to 'step in for God' bc he didn't exist. It really shows how completely dedicated to his morals he is and how genuinely frustrated he is that no one shares his vision.

God this guy was such a breath of fresh air for villains, he’s just a prick with no over convoluted, attempted sympathy backstory to feel sorry for him

I kinda disagree. I agree he's a great villain, but I disagree he has no sympathetic back story. Well, the movie doesn't show it--but the performance does. It's not just that he's a prick for no reason, you can see in his frustration and anger, he's a prick bc he genuinely feels alone and misunderstood in his 'genius' of how he believes the universe should be. Yeah, the movie doesn't go to any effort to make us feel 'sorry' for him, but the performance does still deliver a sense of humanity to him. He's not presented as pure evil. He's presented as hugely evil bc he genuinely believes he's right.

Actually would have been okay with the mutiny succeeding - that’s how powerful this scene is. A psychotic destroyed by his own creations. But I understand that Rocket had to be the one to defeat him - the morally necessary ending that Rocket deserves. 🥹😭
