Most common asked questions:
Does it really work?
- The results of this practice vary, as it focuses on de-puffing and draining fluid from your face to give a more sculpted appearance. Some individuals may experience more noticeable results if they naturally have puffiness due to water retention from various health reasons. However, it's important to note that this practice does not "move fat" or alter your bone structure. Besides the cosmetic benefits, there are also meditation and mindfulness advantages to doing this, leaving you feeling relaxed and grounded afterward. I always hope that viewers can appreciate this aspect as well.
Upwards motion or downwards motion on the neck?
- When performing lymphatic drainage, it's best to massage downwards. On the other hand, for anti-aging purposes, massaging upwards (working against gravity) is recommended. However, it's essential to remember that massages are versatile and not one-size-fits-all. These videos are designed to be easy for viewers to follow along, but you can always customise the massage to your preferences. Always listen to your body and pay attention to how it feels.
Do you have to use face oil?
- No, it's not necessary to use a face oil, but it's recommended to use at least a moisturiser or something that provides a slippery surface to work on. This helps prevent tugging and dragging on your skin during the massage.
What oil am I using?
- These are the oils I have used throughout my videos. For reference I have dry sensitive skin. Khiels Sativa Hemp Seed oil, The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil & Elf’s All the Feels Facial Oil.
Which Gua Sha tool is best? Jade or Rose quartz?
- In my personal opinion, it doesn't really matter which stone you use as long as it is smooth and free of scratches or bumps. Some people believe in crystal healing, and if you subscribe to that belief, then the choice of stones might matter more. However, if the purpose is solely for de-puffing the face, any smooth stone should be sufficient for the job.
What is better? Jade roller or Gua Sha stone?
- It depends on your preferences and needs. Jade rollers are great for rolling in skincare products, especially when used over a sheet mask. They can also be a better option if you have joint issues and find it challenging to use a Gua Sha stone. Personally, I enjoy Gua Sha more because it feels like a massage, and the wiggles at the end provide tension relief.
I initially began doing face Gua Sha for cosmetic purposes, aiming to achieve a more 'snatched' appearance. However, I soon realized that the meditation and mindfulness aspect of the practice was more beneficial to me. Moving forward, that's what I want to focus on. Thank you for following along with me.

Ever since I’ve been using my Gua sha, the right side of my jaw/cheek is far more defined than my left. The left side of my face droops and I have no idea what I’ve been doing wrong. I’m hoping that by following this video, I’ll be able to at least even it out ❤️

You have do facial strengthening exercises. Gua Sha alone isn't going help strengthen the facial muscles. And do not sleep on the side of your face. Sleep on your back.

Thanks for reminding me of the value of some self-care from even a short time invested. I have had severe bruxism on and off for well over 10 years, which culminated in the sudden loss of my ability to rest my jaw. I was sitting watching TV one evening, and suddenly it just wasn't there anymore. This happened back in 2009 during a period of elevated stress, and the subsequent stress it's caused has been almost unbearable physically and mentally, as my muscles are constantly engaged. As a result all my facial and neck muscles are unnaturally and excessively over-toned - which has, over a number of years, caused unnatural fat loss from areas where it needs to be in order to create smooth contours (around my eyes, cheeks, chin). It's caused a lot of asymmetry too, and ravaged my self-confidence. I was very good looking before and never looked my age, but never had much inner confidence or self-love going on, so all I really had as an identity was the way I looked, sadly. I'm trying to learn to like myself now without the looks I once had, but the physical strain of perpetually tired, tense, aching muscles never ends, and even when I sleep I hold a crazy amount of tension in my face, neck and shoulders all night - it's actually worse than by day. No one has ever explained how/why this happened to me and I've never received any kind of help, despite seeking expensive advice from dentists, doctors etc, who think it all emanates from my psyche, and there's no physical component at play. I've given up even seeking an answer, but I think anything I can do to relieve stress and unclench the muscle groups will be beneficial. I really like the no-nonsense approach and relaxing style of these tutorials, and you seem to have a very good grasp of how it all works. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

No fat transfer. It's just de-puffs and drain your face of fluid to make your face appear slimmer. Like I said, an asymmetrical face can be from other factors as well so try these massages and try to be aware of how you sleep and take care of your skin. Don't stress about things that nobody else notice. Stressing will probably be more damaging to your overall health :)

Blessings Tina, to you and yours. I have a request - I would love an informative video, a who why what where when, if you will. Like a easy to understand "face mapping, where are smile lines connect, direction to go and not to go in, the the connectivity of directional tissues etc. I know it's a lot to ask, and most probably don't desire that much info, for me a had a serious of * professional facials for about 1 Year, I had be repeating the therapist instructions at home. Long story short, my facials were not giv8 to me by a professional massage therapist or aesthetics pro. It was a cosmetologist, nice lady, nice spa, she needed furthering in her education I'll leave it there. Well I started getting pain like it felt like by my cheek and ear something was catching, I was having some dizzy spells, my face felt " off ' talking and eating were different, everything from my smile to just my resting face, normal things like rubbing my eye if it itches, it felt like my face was resisting my every move, it was visible to others as well, I didn't go to a doctor, I was embarrassed and scared, I don't know how everything works in my face, and how I was feeling sometimes felt so weird, I kept trying to push things back into a places myself 😂, there's so much to it, anywho, it still is a battle, and I am being completely honest, it made such an impact getting improper facial massages, that my face has NEW wrinkle lines shadowing the original ones but off kilter slightly, I know I never healed or restored it's natural symmetry, after the lightheadedness eased up I've been to terrified to have anyone touch my face again. 🥺 Any advice would be so appreciated

When your genes tell that your collagen etc will make your skin worse there is nothing you can you, well, almost nothing. Of course sunscreen and healthy diet helps and new studies show that you can even change your genes with lifestyle.
