@@cjuice9039 but in the BMW video, they did not use a plastic sheet, they used digitally added place settings. If you watch again you can see the camera wobble added in post, uniform shaking of the glasses, and a bit of the white table cloth flicking upward and phasing through the setting at the edge. Adam and Jamie did an incredible job showing how to do the trick practically.

You can see where the problem is going to be at 2:28. The point that it is pulling from on the car is higher than level with the table. One of the keys to this trick is to pull exactly level with a table, no higher or lower. You can see how this plays out if you slow it down when the car drives. The tablecloth immediately goes higher than the height of the table

They should have tied the rope to the car below the table level. When the car took off it pulled the cloth up instead of down. I would imagine it would still fail but with much less damage. Also I think Mythbusters did it too.

Wouldn't have mattered. TG attempted it truthfully. While the BMW commercial it was faked. You can't yank a cloth that long out from under a set table. The whole trick is to get the cloth out faster then the friction between the cloth and the pieces on the table can overcome their inertia. If you watch the slow motion the pieces at the end of the table away from the car moved very little. But the stuff nearer to it that had more cloth running under them and therefore more friction over time went flying.

@@Cragified everything is correct except that it would have mattered. Moving everything up makes the normal force larger making the friction larger. I wouldn't say they would jave pulled it off if they tied to the bottom, but it would definitely have mattered.

Its cause they pulled the cloth in an upwards angle. Should’ve been tied to the bumper
