Once you play the game a second time, you notice the hints with Big Smoke going to betray you. Every time CJ asked about his mom or why Big Smoke didn’t shoot the “enemy”, he always changed the subject!

If you actually paid attention to this scene. You can see that CJ was surprised that Big Smoke sold him out. But, He never mention anything about Ryder despite him being there with Big Smoke. So, this is one of the proof that Ryder wasn't meant to betray us

one can agree with this up until you think of the 20 min long introduction to the game. Smoke told Ryder about his big plan and Ryder went in on it. I highly doubt MC Eiht came back to record this dialogue cuz if he did then i’m sure he would have done the same for the mission “pier 69” while at it. I personally think that had MC not backed down, Ryder would have stuck by CJ faking their friendship to a much further extent in the game up until he felt he was ready to backstab him and join Smoke at his side. this topic is highly debatable due to the amount of loyalty Ryder hints all throughout the first quarter of the game.

Ryders voice actor left early, he wasn't meant to be an enemy but rockstar had no choice to do so because of limited options. Wish he stuck around to get revenge Ryder was an amazing character

Ryder was not supposed to be a snake from the start Ryder voice actor decided to leave, in the middle of game development. the team have no choice, they decided to kill his character in early game, and make him on the same side with Smoke as a betrayer the "Green Sabre" cutscene was supposed only show Big Smoke & some Ballas

GTA SA and GTA V are in different universes - Characters from SA like CJ, Big Smoke, Ryder and Sweet don't exist in GTA 5 - it's only referenced as an easter egg or just a 'nod' to SA. What happened in GTA SA, stayed in GTA SA.

Dan Houser the co founder of Rockstar said in an interview: "The move to HD created a schism in this fictional universe, rendering CJ, Toni and co, as mythical characters from a bygone era" meaning that old characters from the older games don't really exist in the newer games - only references / easter eggs will be referred to them.

There were quite a few hints earlier in the game on Smoke's betrayal. I had my suspicions on Smoke living in the heart of Idlewood (Ballas turf)... wondering why he moved away from GSF, but then afterwards I didn't think much of it....till my brother mentioned that he was indeed a traitor! Kind of was hoping that Ryder wouldn't betray the group (I read somewhere that originally he wasn't supposed to betray them but they couldn't come up with some storylines for him), even though he pissed off CJ at times but he was ok till Pier 69!

The Ryder isn't supposed to be a traitor is true. The voice actor of Ryder has to left the contract (i really don't know for sure, but it is says that he has some conflict). Beside, it makes sense that Ryder isn't a traitor. His mission is indeed helping Grove Street (rather than Big Smoke missions). So yeah, actually it makes sense that Ryder didn't say a word while in pier 69. And yeah, on the script of The Green Sabre, that's why Ryder didn't get mentioned, because it's out of script.

Sometimes I doubt Hernandez’s piss break in that cut scene. I feel like he was either communicating and reporting to another officer about what Tenpenny and Pulaski were doing, taking down notes, or had a secret voice recorder recording of what they’re saying, which led to his death later in the game.

I think you're on the right track, but I doubt Hernandez would go that far. More likely, he was uncomfortable with the entire situation and so he deliberately found a reason to extract himself from it.

Ryder For Me, Always Had the Style and Personality of a Traitor, The Guy Lived Drugging, insulting everyone while putting himself on a pedestal high-titled ''Genius'', And telling you to rob an Army Charge, Even in the intro shows him as a traitor... I don't know where the guys like to put him as an ''innocent that changed throughout the game''.

@@soildanimeyt8035 Ryder was originally planned to be one of the supporting characters, but the writers decided it would be best to have him as an antagonist instead, and even tho I wish Ryder wasn't, I do believe that he had all the characteristic attributes of a traitor in nature. He's arrogant, constantly showing jealousy and envy towards CJ, and hes a junkie. Junkies are always willing to do anything amd everything to support their drug habit even if it means selling out their family and friends, and if you pay attention to the story, you'll notice that all of Ryders missions have to do with obtaining weapons and munition crates, and goods, and none of it was for The Grove Street! 😅🤣🤦🏾‍♂

Big Smoke was blinded by Money & Power, that's the main reason. as you noticed when Ryder & Big Smoke came out from the garage, CJ didn't even mention Ryder's name. it is because it's not Rockstar's plan to make Ryder betray them, he is supposed to help CJ. the reason why they changed Ryder's role is because in the middle of development, Ryder's Voice Actor left so they had to make a changes on the storyline of the game..

It's how the hood works. There are cats like sweet and CJ who are loyal to friends and family without realizing you can be loyal to people who aren't loyal to you. IT is very big problem just because you like someone or you're related to someone doesn't mean they are a good person. Someone being good to you does not make them a good person dig? Then there are the cats like Ryder and smoke who are only really loyal to themselves. Must heavy drug users care more about their highs than anyone else's life. People like smoke are opportunists. After a while, a good opportunist or drug dealer realizes friendships and relationships are more like investments. Some are worth keeping stock in others times it's better to just sell. these are the cats who cut deals and throw others under the bus. It's as simple as having a good business mindset as opposed to being a good person. The long and short of it is there is no honor amongst thieves. gangs are not going to consist of the most loyal and most stable. The trick is to get out.

Thats bcuz GTA 3 came out before San Andreas. Pagers were popular and still a main trend in 2001. Cellphones didnt become of mainstream popularity until about 2004-2005 which is when San Andreas was released despite the story being set in 1992 lol. Think about it for a sec.
