I think it's partially because Franklin kinda understands Jimmy's strangeness and would rather be the one he talks to about that stuff. Imagine if he somehow made friends with a Ballas and yapped about the Families.

For real. Jimmy's that one kid who's desperately trying to fit in, belong and be appreciated for who he is. It's obvious he doesn't have any real life friends as he rarely ever gets out and is always inside playing videogames, so having Franklin inviting him to hang out is really special for him, which is why in every single conversation he has, he calls Franklin his brother. As someone who was socially awkward as a kid, struggled to make real friends and was constantly bullied and cast out from the crowd, I resonated with Jimmy a lot, which I'll probably never admit to someone's face lol. Having a friend like Franklin is a blessing, really. Someone who's patient with you, actually considers you a friend and also makes sure to keep you grounded and in check so that you don't end up oversharing

Ya gotta think, aside from dealing and buying small amounts of drugs, Jimmy doesnt leave his room. Most of the time, if he’s home, and you’re Michael, the door is shut, and you can hear him playing video games. Hes someone who is chronically online, has no real friends, just customers from his old high school class, and Franklin, the actual gangster raised on the streets, is everything Jimmy wishes he was. Strong, confident, independent, attractive, charismatic, and can’t understand that without sacrificing his luxurious way of living, he could never even come close to truly understanding Frank. Jimmy doesnt want to be a gangster. Jimmy wants to be cool, and he wants friends and approval from people, more than anything. Anytime he’s criticized, he gets defensive, harsh, and emotional. Its because he has no self-confidence, and no support system. His own dad is okay with just letting him stay in his room (except for Daddy’s Little Girl where they go to the beach), and Jimmy and Michael barely know each other, they even say so. I think deep down, Jimmy is a guy with some arrested development, misguided by the idea that being a gangster will make you cool and get you lots of friends. He holds on to this idea, because the other option, the reality, is that he just needs to get a job and go outside more. He expresses how he hates doing work, so I can assume he’s barely done it. If he was given a job by Franklin throughout the story that would be an interesting situation, like hacking, because it would actually give Jimmy something to do, but then again its Michael’s kid. What I’m saying is Michael should have brought Jimmy to the Union Depository job to bond with him.

Yeah Jimmy saying He wanted to join a gang was more uncomfortable then Him talking about the brother stuff and crying (Allegies) Franklin is probably the more open minded and reflective the wisest or more of a thinker out of the three main characters I'd say, Michael seems like He's done, over shit and Trevor is close to the same. Franklin sounds very similar to characters like Niko and maybe even Arthur from Rockstar. He doesn't take any "serious" dumb question as a joke He considers it and gives an honest answer. That's why I'd say He's my favourite character out of the game.

Jimmy to me, represents your typical suburban kid. He struggles with identity (who he is) and a lack of purpose due to being handed everything. This causes a lack of motivation and ambition for life because unlike his father, Trevor, and Franklin.. jimmy never had to worry about food, money problems, and maybe dying. As Franklin states, “man the only thing you had to worry about was your dad not buying you a convertible.” All in all, rockstar nailed this character to a tee. It shows a lot of why people really have a lack of purpose..

FINALLLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO SAID THIS! I felt the same way like we got to see every bit of michael and trevors stories fleshed out. But asside from brief one off scenes here and there, franklin really didnt accomplish much. There’s basically no lamar missions. His aunt has no explanation of why she lives with him even though its his house. His love interest got ONE brief mention by lamar at the beginning and then one quick scene at the end to tell him that he’s having a life crisis & then nothing! Great potential that we saddly will never see
