I also love GT Vegeta’s outfit, it’s the physical embodiment of his growth as a character. The more he changes, the less sayian armor he wears, to the point of where he becomes fully developed and it’s just wearing ordinary human clothes. I love looking at that detail and I feel it isn’t mentioned enough.

If GT was re-written they could've showcased this even further. Personally I don't want Super post "End of Z" to just follow along the GT storybeats. It must be its own thing. What I would've liked is if GT got re-written and reanimated. Lots of the storybeats would be far better with a little tweaks and Demon Slayer showed us how much good animation can elevate a show. I mean when you break down GT it's legit: Traveling the galaxy Facing a parasite Hell opening up Facing the consequences of your actions 4 simple arcs in which so so much could be done. The space travel can be made into a more grandiose adventure, very lighthearted and fun. And it would contrast greatly with the Baby arc being spin as more of a horror. I'd also have Vegeta be the last one standing alongside Uub. We could've had Baby attempt ro control Goku once, but be too weak and the second attempt Goku's defenses are too weak plus Baby knows Goku a bit now. He could see Goku's memories. See how jealous Vegeta has been and uses that. Showing his hatred for King Vegeta and saiyans. Focusing it on the one who keeps the legacy going. Plus we'd get too see Vegeta fight alongside the student of Goku. Would be cool. Now for the Hell arc I have a ton of ideas 😂

Vegeta never surpassed goku in GT. You can't count baby vegeta because that's no only vegeta and when you factor in the fact that goku struggled to fight baby mostly because of being in kid form. In the baby arc vegeta is not stronger than goku in the super 17 arc. The only time they are even comparable in GT is when they where fight omega. And it's still debated if vegeta can transform into ssj4 naturally.

@leultrainstinct406 Ya no. Vegeta's growth as a fighter is entirely predicated on Goku's regression as a fighter, as well as a character. Vegeta often has to talk down to him because of it, so no, his respect for Goku doesn't follow what was set up in Z because it works on unstable ground that contradicts the information that should have been setting it up for the future. Vegeta doesn't just give Goku RESPECT. He is straight up admitting he IS THE BEST THERE IS, which is MONUMENTAL for Vegeta to say. Difference being is Vegeta in GT seeks strength to protect those he cares about, NOT solely to surpass his rival. It shows his growth in a FAR more mature and seasoned light than Super ever has

Vegeta using the Blutz Wave Generator is a beautiful thing. One he didn’t have time to let Old Kai pull his tail out. Two the machine was created by his wife, Bulma. One of the most important characters in Dragon Ball. Vegeta using the machine is him accepting help from others, something he struggled with. Him accepting help is him maturing and being a better person. He accepts help from his wife nonetheless. It brings him closer to being like Goku. GT Vegeta is the best Vegeta as he now trusts everyone and isn’t selfish. When he reached SSJ4 he doesn’t charge Omega, he suggests fusion. Super Vegeta would have charged Omega and died losing their best shot at beating Omega, of saving the Earth. And honestly GT Vegeta is so bad ass. Charging Omega in Super Saiyan 2 and laughing at him before he passes out as he knows Goku has got this.

A cost that those *Around* him pay as well as himself. Vegeta often gets punished for his mistakes, but he's often dragging down others with him. The Frieza Saga, The Cell Saga, The Buu Saga. In various points throughout these storylines, Vegeta routinely plunged his "Allies" into chaotic situations that could have been solved easily had he not been too prideful or arrogant, or egotistical. GT Vegeta is the first story where it actually shows Vegeta being a role model worth admiring. Because in all the other arcs before he was still causing needless suffering just to satiate his own sense of self. He doesn't have to do that anymore and sacrifices himself purely for sacrifices' sake rather than atonement. It's why I find Base Form Vegeta confronting Omega genuinely more powerful than Vegeta's atonement blast against Majin Buu. Unlike Majin, Vegeta is truly, woefully outclassed. Him in Ssj4 with another Ssj4 ally as backup was already not enough to contend with Omega's power but in Base? With no backup? He's doomed. Truly. There's no way he can win. But it's not about winning. It's about doing the right thing for the people you give a fuck about. And I think it comes through much more effectively in his last stand against Omega because we literally see the planet breaking apart in the final battle of GT. It felt like we've went somewhere from the start of the bout and I know he's definitely come a long way to be in this position, where he commands everybody in battle just before flying off.

There's a weird sentiment in Z that Vegeta actually viewed the Z fighters as his "allies". Sure he fought with them when necessary, but that was it, when it was necessary. For 90% of Z he was still an anti-hero at best leaning heavily towards the villainous side. He only used the resources of the Z fighters as a means to an end at first. Like Bulma's gravity chamber. His villainous arc didn't truly end until Majin Vegeta. Yet some fans believe it ended in the Cell saga, which isn't true. Sure he flipped out over future Trunks, but that showed he COULD have good moments, not that he was a good person overall. He was drunk on power in the android/cell saga, and he had zero reason to care about the Z fighters at all in the Namek saga. He was driven to work with them because of desperate times, not because he considered them to be actual allies. People resonate with Vegeta because he's a guy who's entire world was flipped upside down, yet no matter how many times his face is literally smashed into the pavement and his pride is grinded into dust, he keeps getting back up and won't lose his sense of pride, like you said. His character aside from that shouldn't be admired at all. I agree why he's admired, but disagree on your point about how he treats his allies since in Vegeta's mind, he has no allies. Of course even if he did, well, we all saw what happened to Nappa. Guess that's what happens when one of your parental figures is *Frieza*.

One of my favorite aspects of GT Vegeta, was seeing him interact with his family. Coming off of the Buu saga, we saw Vegeta wrestle with the fact that his life had gone in a direction he had never forseen. "I awoke one day to find that I had settled down, formed a family. I had even grown quite fond of them." Seeing Vegeta interact with and be a legitimate part of his family (especially with his daughter) really showed his character growth more than almost anything else.

We see Vegeta in Super willing to debase himself, we see him becoming more dedicated to his family like refusing to help Goku while Bulma is pregnant with Bulla. He still needs to let go of his obsession with Goku, but Vegeta through Super gets more comfortable being his own self.

I don't disagree that GT is a good end point for the character. I've been a GT stan since it first aired here. It's a flawed series but has a lot of good stuff in it that gets overlooked. However I feel you're overlooking two things. 1. Super's placement in the timeline 2. All the non fighty stuff in Super. If GT was canon, it's still like 10 years from where we are in Super so it makes sense to me Super Vegeta isn't yet to GT development, but if you look at the non fighty stuff in Super you see where he's heading down that path.

@@leultrainstinct406 I'm not arguing better. I'm saying that those elements are very present in Super Vegata. Very first episode he's in, he's fulfilling his Promise to Trunks from Z. Later He's willing to humiliate himself to try and keep Beerus in a good mood to protect his family and only fights when Bulma is threatened. While he's very 'tough love' on Future Trunks everything he does is to help him. He even completely refuses to help Goku in the tournaments because he refuses to miss the birth of his second child after not being there for Trunks' birth. There are plenty of moments in Super that start showing Vegeta transitioning from his Z persona to his GT persona. The fact he's not completely there yet, can be explained as this still being years before GT.

Vegeta's response to beating Goku in the Super Hero Arc was more like finally scratching an old itch that you had learned to tune out but was still there. Nowhere near what it would have been if he had done it back in DBZ.

Great video, it shows how much Vegeta mentally matured in GT. You did miss what an overly protective daddy Vegeta is in GT lol. From what I remember the reason they use the machine is because Vegeta didn't have a tail. He did not went through the same process as Goku where they pulled out his tail with a magical tool. I do not think the machine is just to emulate the moon rays, since Goku does not need it because he has a tail. Another great thing about GT is how the transformation of SSJ 4 is the best in my opinion, since is not only a new body that can stand the temperature of the sun, it increases IQ, aggressiveness and Goku becomes a Giant. He is like 7-8 feet tall transformed.

The part i absolutely enjoyed was when Vegeta first transformed to SSJ4, but prior to that being in the Golden Oozaru form he had a weakened SSJ4 Goku in his grasp until Goku yelled out to him and Vegeta uttered his Saiyan name back. It was a full circle moment if i ever saw it. From the beginning of Z where a ruthless and evil Oozaru Vegeta was in complete control and trying to crush and kill Goku to the end of GT, the franchise (at the time) where Vegeta at his absolute strongest was in the same predicament with Goku but chose his humanity over his bestial form. They werent rivals at that point, more like best friends, hell, brothers if you wanna call it that. Its a shame Toriyama just uses Vegeta as a stepping stone for Goku when his character just gets screwed out of the victory himself. Makes me wonder sometimes what he tries to write about these days. Characters or things that just blow up.

one thing i think super vegeta lacks is that i miss his costume from the buu saga. the armor in Z sort of fit with the alignment of its character and it sort of fit with the storytelling. in the saiyan saga, his armor starts off with these wide shoulder pads you see in the frieza force, with the parts by the hips making it look like samurai armor. and the yellow striped padding is a running thing with dragon ball villains where they have yellow and stripes to indicate they are villains (piccolo started it and dr gero's outfit also has them) when he changes the outfit on namek, its around the point after his humility has been challenged by goku's immense growth displayed against the ginyu force, and he ends up accepting training. he swaps out the samurai armor for a more simplified armor design, with elements. and we get the design super vegeta is currently using. its still a protective piece of armor, but he's not always wearing that smirk he had back in the saiyan saga. his next design change is in the buu saga after the timeskip, where hes wearing just the undershirt from the armor. being a family man, he's become much less of an asshole and is more willing to be vulnerable to protect those that he cares about. and the lack of armor makes him dressed similar to goku. in GT, he wears several different outfits, i guess they wanted everybody to be bulma. but he's dedicated to the tank top undershirt, and they arent throwing away his character development. in super, they went back to the cell saga/namek redesign, but its gray now because bulma worked on it. i dont find that nearly as interesting as the tank-top, and i prefer how GT expressed his connection to bulma by having her help vegeta obtain SS4. if anything its just symbolizing how super regressed his character back to what is iconic instead of taking vegeta in a new direction.

People always forget that the GT characters are older than the super characters. That means the super characters at some point in time have the potential to get some key development. GT is years in the future. When Super passes the end of Z then you can start comparing characters

That's a general statement that doesn't apply here. Vegita already went through what caused his development for GT, yet in Super he, Goku, etc. take several steps down as characters, becoming flanderised versions of themselves.

I know it isnt intentional, but I think if you look at Vegeta's arc in Super so far (especially in the Moro/Granohla arcs) it almost lesds perfectly into Vegeta being this way in GT. Although Super did backtrack from the Buu arc a tiny bit in terms of development, I think where Vegeta is so far in yhe story, is onky a few more steps away from becoming who he is in GT. He really has learned to go down his own path instead of always trying to copy Goku's, and he's trying to redeem his past (trying to save the Namekians in the Moro arc), he's become much more family oriented (this is shown as early as the first few episodes of Super), not to mention he wasn't actually reluctant to fusing in the Broly movie (the part that bothered him was the dance itself looking silly). I hope once they pass the end of Z they finally start to incorporate this sort of personality for Vegeta that he had in GT, it would just make sense.

Vegeta's transformation to SSJ4 is one of the best transformations I've ever seen for 2 reasons. 1. It concludes his development as a mature and responsible man, being able to depend on Bulma's capabilities to help him begin the transformation process. It felt like the most natural and best conclusion to the development of one of the best villains/rivals in fiction. 2. By splitting the transformation into two parts - going from Saiyan to Ape, and Ape to SSJ4 - it allows Vegeta to show that he can control that level of power. Not only does it show Vegeta's power and control, but it also goes full circle bringing back the ape transformation we saw back in Dragon Ball and early DBZ. All in all, everything in GT felt like it was trying to finally reach a conclusion not just for the storyline, but for the characters and the world of DB as well.

Both incarnations are good. Super Vegeta does not just repeat himself from early DBZ and he didn't put rivalry with Goku over the Earth or his family. Remember how many times he humiliated himself to please Beerus or to train under Whis. He is also a team player and a good father.

@@biohazardbin Let's debate then. At the very beginning we VEgeta having quality time with his family, later he humiliated himself for Beerus entertainment, tried peaceful solutions for Buu misbehaving. Indeed, he's more selfish than GT, but it wouldn't be Vegeta without his ego. Team playing is debatable, but look, Goku is the same and VEgeta is as good team player as a Saiyan could be. I think you see Super's version in a different light due to the story overall which focused more on tournaments than epic, world saving battles or threats.

Some vehemently deny that Vegeta was at any point more powerful than Gokuu in GT, but in reality he probably was stronger at least all the way up to the Baby Saga. When Baby possesses Vegeta's body in EP27, he exclaims that "he has obtained the most powerful body in the universe". Baby made that statement having already met and fought Gokuu and knowing how strong he was.

I too am a dragon ball GT fan as well, & Vegeta's actual progression and development is one of the reasons why I still am a fan despite the continuation of dragon ball Super. GT might be non cannon with no monger but at the same time it's unique and opens more creative possibilities throughout the grand tour and that I truly admire and will always vouch for our little black sheep 🐑 ;besides Super Saiyan 4 is still my favorite dragon ball transformation to this day! The one thing I do appreciate that was improved from GT to super is the foundation for pan's development, With her potential glimpse in both the series and the superhero movie. There's a chance for her to go super saiyan at the same age or earlier than gotan and trunks 🤔

I never had a problem with gt vegeta, honestly like how he is the combination for how much he changed over years being out together. He’s mature and actually shows he cares for the earth and family. And not being too prideful about it. At the same time doesn’t just accept being weaker then Goku but not in his usual arrogant way. It’s just how they did him sometimes in gt that could be the problem. Other then that I still hope Vegeta gets like this again eventually.

Until Super happened he now wearing the cell saga clothes and its funny cause he acts like his cell saga counterpart.

The thing about SS4 is that Vegeta did earn it. He just didnt struggle with it like Goku did, because he at least mastered the OOzaru form. Rusty with it, he started to act primate but seconds later he just had to hear Goku's voice, recognize it and he immediately transformed into a Golden Oozaru, then SS4. He earned it faster because he already mastered the form Goku didnt. People who call it cheating just dont get what happened and not listening to or reading the dialogue at all.

Bebi makes characters stronger, Gohan & Piccolo’s feats are both a testament to their own strength. We see Vegeta need Super Saiyan to overpower Goten & Gohan, who Goku could easily handle in Base. Then I’m the Super 17 Arc does worse as a Super Saiyan than Goku does. Vegeta’s behind Goku throughout almost all of GT up until the Shadow Dragons Arc; where (before he gets SSJ4/ when Bulma brings up the bruits Waves Machine) he implies Super Saiyan 4 was the only thing separating him & Goku; and as a Super Saiyan 4 is stated equal to Goku in the Perfect Files.

Contrary to popular belief I still think GT Vegeta still has his pride and it's as strong as ever. However, I think it evolved. He went from, being the Proud Saiyan Prince, that he was introduced as, grew relapsed (Majin Vegeta). Grew again, yet stumbles a bit in Super (Still obsessed with being better than Goku but with less malice.) then to his EoZ version of himself, which didn't really get showcased until basically GT. GT Vegeta being the true end point into Vegeta's progression, where he's not simply the Proud Prince of The Saiyans of the past, but a Proud Earthling who would do anything to protect his new found home. You can hear it in his exchange with Bulma fearing loosing it to Omega Shenron. You *see* it in his decision to propose fusion with Goku, given the countless times we've seen his reluctance of fusing that is a strong indication that Vegeta doesn't have that chip on his shoulder, where his Pride isn't in just himself anymore, but the people around him.

He even fought well against Rilldo and appeared unscathed whilst Goten was even with the Teen form of Baby.

One of the big things to me, As vegeta became an earthling, he slowly discarded his saiyan/frieza force armor. By buu saga vegeta is only wearing his jump suit and gloves. In Gt, vegeta finally discards it. I feel this was supposed to show vegeta slowly growing into an earthling, he even learned to drive, grew a moustache, and CUT HIS HAIR, rather than just a warrior. Super completely ignores this and vegeta is back in his full armor most of the time.

I personally think the reason he didnt use the ball was because it was only made for turning into Great Apes, and since the waves needed to go Golden was from the earth instead of the moon, it would definitely need WAY more energy to produce, and even then it only worked for Vegeta (and Gohan) because they had tails, else Goku would’ve became an Oozaru too

  • @KrazieAF
    @KrazieAF8 ай бұрын

I believe the primary distinction between the machine and the artificial moon Vegeta can create lies in the concentration of Blutz waves. Instead of passively absorbing energy while having a tail, exposed to a moon or a planet acting as a moon substitute, like Goku in GT, or even an artificial moon, they utilized a machine to generate a more concentrated burst or wave of Blutz energy directly into Vegeta, eliminating the need for a tail to trigger the Oozaru transformation.
