GSPro Computer Requirements and Performance Example

GSPro provides a first class home golf simulator experience. However, what do we really need in order to run it effectively? Their website lists minimum requirements, but how about if you want to run it in 4k? This video shares real world data using the PC I built. I share the results of the performance along with video from actual courses within GS Pro. Whether you use a Foresight GC3, Bushnell Launch Pro, Mevo plus, Skytrack or Uneekor Eye XO or QED, or the Garmin R10, this video can help you understand what your needs are!
The following links are paid affiliate links for each of the products I used in my build, and I will receive a small commission if you use these links to purchase your components.

So for a novice, I do have a couple of questions and a suggestion: Questions (1) What tower would you suggest? (2) What software did you load in it? Or does it automatically come preloaded? That's the one thing I hate when buying a new computer is all the crap that comes with it. (3) What Monitor/Keyboard/Mouse would you recommend. (4) Did you add a DVD player? SD Reader? etc. (5) What would you use to get the audio to a sound bar? (6) So following the video, I put everything in the cart and it came to $956 and this doesn't include the items I mentioned (2) (3) (4) so how much do you think doing it this way versus buying one from a retailer completely built? Suggestion: I built a computer years ago before going to Korea for a year from a buddy that picked out the components and it worked great. My suggestion is I would love to see you actually piecing it together and loading it with the software. For someone that hasn't done this in awhile or someone new to this, that would be a great way to save some money. Also, might provide links in the description for the components would be useful. Great video and thanks for sharing on Facebook!

Todd, I’m really glad you got some value out of this. Here’s a link to a parts list with pricing. pcpartpicker.com/list/vGLPv3. It’s just over $900 and that’s with a much better case than I used. I didn’t mention my case because it was kinda awful!! Anyway, I used windows 11 and bought the license for around $20 from gvgvmall.com. Use code tb20 for 20% off. In order to install, you’ll need to setup a thumb drive with a windows 11 installer loaded onto it. It’s really simple. There’s some good videos here to show you how. I didn’t add any other peripherals such as dvd. The motherboard i chose has built in Bluetooth and is a good way to connect to a sound bar. The motherboard also has a optical out that can connect to a motherboard. Last, if you want to use this pc as a sim, maybe consider using a tv on a swivel wall mount as your monitor and then you can use it like I do as my sim. See my Mevo plus putting video for a panned shot of my setup. As far as savings, building your own should save somewhere between 300-600 bucks and it’ll be a first class system without any bloatware. Hope this helps. Hit em long and straight!

Thanks for the feedback! I have only ever used the e6 mobile version. It obviously pales in comparison. GS Pro has become a favorite because the graphics are very good, their golf environment is very realistic and there are numerous courses available. Plus the cost is attractive. It’s my default recommendation for sim software. Love it. Pretty much the only place to save money on this setup is the graphics card. The AMD Speedster 6600 would save you about $200. You can also save about $40 on a cheaper case, but beware, they are cheaper for a reason and are a little harder to work with for cable routing. Lastly you could run with one SSD at 512gb. Here’s the links to these products on Amazon, just know these are affiliate links and I will make a small commission. amzn.to/3TIyNSm amzn.to/3Rjo27C amzn.to/3TE7rwN All told these substitutions will save you about $270. You will be able to play 1080p at low graphics with this setup. Watch my gs pro optimization video, you can’t see a lot of difference at low settings. Let me know if you have any other questions!!

Mike - I'm a MacOS guy. I'm contemplating purchasing a DIY simulator situation in my renovated garage from 'scratch'!!. I'm totally sold on the 4K graphic realism of GS Pro. it's next level, but not MacOS. I thought I could use the new M1/M2 laptops and use Parallels Desktop Pro Edition to sim GS Pro but I read that it doesn't run smoothly. Further... I'll probably purchase the Mevo+ for flexibility both indoors and outdoors that has E6 CONNECT simulated courses (not at the same graphic level as GS pro) that I'm sure you know thru and thru. Have NEVER dabbled in the PC world at all. How difficult is it to construct this dedicated desktop from my ultra beginner knowledge level and is it worth it from your perspective. I'd would definitely use your recommendation to the letter (maybe possibly go with the RTX 3080 GPU card) Nevertheless - I need some directional advice...what's your candid opinion

I just bought an Asus laptop NIVDA RTX 3070 I7 with 16 gb ram from Best Buy. I know they recommend a 3060ti and 16 gb ram which is only in desktop form to run GSPro at 1080p on ultra without stuttering. I just want to be able to play a most of the courses on ultra 1080p. Do I have enough? The only thing it will be used for is sim golf 5 months out of the year and I have a Viewsonic LS860wu projector which is 1920x1200 resolution. It shows that the rtx 3070 laptop is better than a 3060 desktop, but not better than a 3060ti desktop as they recommend for quality 1080p on ultra, but it's pretty close. I have a Foresight Bushnell launch pro which I plan on using for sim golf mostly and a Flightscope X3 which I use mostly outdoors, but maybe will use on gspro as well a little, who knows.

I can’t say for sure, but if I was going to guess I would say it should handle 1080p at ultra. For more info, check out my video entitled GS Pro Optimizing. In this video you’ll see how graphics and resolution settings affect FPS. Unfortunately, you can’t use multiple launch monitors within gs pro as you only get one API with your download and the API for each LM is unique. Hope this helps! Thanks for reaching out!!!
