Saw Gryphon at the Spectrum in Philadelphia about 1977 . They were the warm up band to Yes . Gryphon made a lasting impression .

The sound of the sensational band Gryphon is divine. Mixing the best of medieval music with the heyday of Renaissance and Baroque music. Fascinating.

I am a devoted fan of this band. I own a copy of the first album with its spectacular gatefold cover as well as the Midnight Mushrooms LP. I also own this and its follow up and as far as I know all of their recorded output on cd including the latest’ ‘ Get Out Of My Father’s Car’ Saw them in the early 70’s just before they went on tour with Yes cerca Close to the Edge time. Second time I saw them was around Raindance, Treason time in Chichester Cathedral. S

Get Out Of My Father's Car! has some super tunes on it, but it's more uneven than ReInvention. I think the difference is that both Richard Harvey and Keith Thomson were not just outstanding musicians but proper composers schooled in the medieval and Renaissance, and the current line up, while no less able and yet frivolous, has lost that edge of formality and grandeur.

I entirely agree. The first two albums had more significance than the rest of their output. When they went in the prog rock direction they lost some of the originality that made their music so distinct. So much so that by the time they reached Treason it was a bit of an over indulgent sprawling mess.

@@polbecca Musically, he always is. These guys are some of the most outstanding musicians to ever play in any genre/style/format even remotely considered, "Rock".
