way more down force and the 919 has the hybrid system. its just the top speeds aren't even close to these old brutes.

Bo Huggabee They still do better than 330 km/h. There's absolutely no reason why say a Porsche 919 wouldn't be just as fast, if not more so.

TheThirdMan the 919's top speed is 211mph. but it generates a ton more down force and with all that massive amount of torque that is instant due to the hybrid tech. its all about average speed, and if you don't get to use the top speed of the c9, its useless against something like a 919. on the old mulsanne version of le mans. the c9 would give the 919 a run for its money. but if the c9 can only top out at 211 instead of 248 before needing to brake and turn. then with the 919 carrying all that speed through the turns, superior brakes, and instant torque/acceleration. the average speed goes up considerably. the 919 is also lighter than the c9 and has nearly 200 more hp. c9 generates nearly 5000 pounds of downforce though. i couldn't find the 919 downforce specs. though if the 919 generates more than that at a lower speed. then you get much quicker cornering.

what is sad is how the one:1 was cheated. it has more power to weight than the c9. generates more downforce. when they went to claim a lap time record, spa put up noise regulations and shut them down.

The roar of the Sauber vs The scream of the 787b I'd pay so much money to see this.

I saw these cars racing at Donington I think in 1990. the Mercedes was the greatest and best sounding car I ever heard. it blew every other car away. awesome.

Robert Hudson yet for some reason bmw fanatics thinks mercedes is an old mans brand. They don't even know motorsports history.

Saw this beast at Donnington UK in 1989 aged 10. Loved it then. Saw it at the Historic Festival this year and still love it. That sound! How could anyone not like this. Awesome is the only word to describe this car. Thanks for the vid.

That was excellent.....I enjoyed it all, but the qualifying laps on board were great as well.....The throttle adjustments through the slower corners was a delight to hear, that car is such a Beast, one of my all time favourites, such a Grunty Sound.

I saw this car ~1990 on the Group C race on the Nurburgring driven by M. Schumacher. What I remember most is its sound. And even then I thought that it's just way ahead of its time. Thanks for uploading!

Wow it popped out of gear at 7:50! I think it did it once before on the previous lap into Les Combes.

@hendrixexperiencedig The C11 didn't win at Le Mans, it came 5th in 1991 (with Schumi) The Sauber C9 won at Le Mans in 1989.

Shows you just how much of a fight the 787b must have put up! Poor ole Johnny Herbert must have been shitting himself! I wait for the day when we see the any Sauber Mercedes (c9 or c11) on track with the Mazda 787B.

Other drivers probably don't need to use their rear view mirrors...I bet they can feel the thunderous vibrations from that hotrod Mercedes V8 as it closes in on them

i know right. when i was playing the 4th gran turismo i used the sauber and its like ??? really? it sounds like a formula 1 car not a strong v8 type of sound.

Race Room Racing does though...if only they had Gruppe C cars. The Gruppe 5 and GT3 cars sound awesome though in game. Probably the best I've heard in a game period, especially in-car.

Project Cars does have Gruppe C cars. The Mazda 787B and the Sauber C9. Both sound amazing!

Errorxdable Yeah, I haven't played since the 787B was added and the Sauber was no where close to completed by the time I fell off in seat time with the game. I may have to revisit it, but been hella busy with work. Thank you for the update though!
