@@choward5430 Nope, no forgiveness here. Why is it when people commit really horrible acts the victims are expected to be forgiving? Forgiveness is not what most people think it is. Grieving, bring angry and spiteful about the event is normal and human. (last time I checked we aren't robots) Forgiveness is doing your level best to not allow the anger, hate, and unfairness of it all to eat you alive. It's taking your power back from the person/people who took it. Now, if God helps you get there more power to you. I'll give you this. I don't hate my abuser or the absolute idiots who traumatised me further by pushing what happened under the carpet just so they didn't have to help me. So, no. God played no role in protecting the child or comforting the adult. I did the work to heal. I did the years of therapy and worked my butt off to have healthy relationships in my life. To this day I have not forgiven the people involved because they don't deserve to be let off the hook.

@choward leave it up to god if he or she wants to forgive. But as a psychologist I think forgiveness is overrated. What is needed in time is letting go of the power it has over you to whatever degree you can. And the way of that may differ for people. For some it means not having resentment continuing to drive you. For some it's finally just saying "f**k off".

Thank you for clarifying. I was going to comment as well. My family on my grandfathers side is Mormon. We descend from Henry Miller. He was instrumental in The Mormon Trail that brought Mormons persecuted in the Midwest to Utah. My great great grandfather had four wives. This was before the church denounced polygamy. The church was very strict about how many wifes you could have. You had to be able to support all in their different households. They were very stoic people. Hardworking farmers. Much of polygamy was rooted in practicality. Much like many farmers of the day having 13 kids by one wife. The mainstream Mormons are very nice people. Also the Missionaries don't stay in peoples houses. My cousins were Missionaries. They mostly visit people on the Mormon registry like my grandfather was. Always nice and polite and never pushy. I always talk to them when I see them. All of them stay at an apartment or house rented by the church. Not saying they are all angels because anyone can be corrupt but I think they are easy target for a bad rap.

I’m from Las Vegas Nevada. I grew up hunting a lot of those creepy towns the FLDS live in. Some of the compounds are so freaky and You’ll just pull up to a huge compound literally in the middle of nowhere on the Nevada/ Utah border. It’s crazy that people even live out there if You could see the size of these houses in the literal middle of nowhere. There is a whole network of compounds spattered along the countryside on the Nevada/UT border. I was always intrigued by these ppl because of how truly remote and isolated they are. I can see for a young girl like Her going through it. It would be almost impossible to escape due to how isolated they are. You wouldn’t think this stuff goes on in such a free country such as the US but these people are literally enslaved and even Kidnapped in a way. And for those of You that don’t think it’s still a thing or that these places still don’t Exist. I Can promise You that they do in the middle of nowhere in eastern Nv/ Western UT. Sad stuff, I hope She stays clean, and can get the help She needs.Their idea of who Jesus was and what the Churches ⛪️ role truly is, is so flawed, and anyone who would do that to kids & women had a special place in Hell. Prayers up for this lady 🙏🏼

The section on the bullying concerning her breast’s is especially disturbing. Reflected my memories of some teachers not being adults and often emotionally immature enablers of the worst student behavior. I realize as I say this that teachers get dumped on them the damage from the family, etc. and are often a mess from their similar “educational “ pasts. But teachers asking to see her breasts? That is reprehensible. Thanks for this interview., Stephanie and Mark💫

I don’t buy that she was raised fundamentalist. I was raised Mormon and when you hear a fundamentalist speak. They know their stuff about the religion and the structure. They indoctrinate kids with that their whole lives. So the fact she can’t recall the leadership and doctrines makes her sound like she’s just making it up on the fly. She knows Mormonism things but she’s not making a lot of connections that she should if she were actually raised the way she said she was. And alot of her timelines don’t match up either as far as her age goes.

She also mentions a lot of molestation, so I'm wondering if her particular family and group of flds were just whack.

Her father got tricked into believing that her mother was of age. Same thing happened to me. I was 19 and some under aged girls snuck their way into the 18+ club with fake ID's. One of them showed cristal clear interest in me and kept coming back to dance with me the whole night. Ended up in "her place" after partying that night. Was obviously her parents home but still no reason to think that she's a minor because more than enough people who are 18+ still hang around at the parents house for whatever personal reasons, including me at that time. Parents were out of the city in their 'vacation second home'. Next morning I overheard the girls talk in the livingroom...'does he know' 'did you tell him' 'are you going to tell him' etc etc. My heart skipped a beat because I thought her parents or something just came back home and there's no way for me to make an escape. Anyway, I got a text from one of her girlfriends telling me, you know she's not even 18 right? Never been so scared in my life before on that day. To think that in these situations, these scenes...the men still get faulted for it and the "women" the GIRLS get off and laugh about it. I'm an average Joe who is doing okay enough in life but let's say I was on my way to an very successful career like sports, musician, politics and or acting. There's no proof that THAT happened (2003) but still she can come out with the me-too card 10 years into my career like "he's a pedophile".

And later at that time I got to know from one of her friends that she wouldn't do or say anything about it because she had very very Amish level strict and highly religious parents. The amount of trouble she would have gotten into back home weighted heavier than what the court would do to me. Again, there was no proof that it happened. This was a time before internet and smart mobile phones.
