Growing taro from cutting in container growing keladi from cutting growing kalo. Colocasia esculenta is one of popular plants in Asia. Taro also called keladi (Malay), Kalo etc etc. We love eat and growing taro in our farm or backyard garden. I usually plant taro from cutting and taro easy grow whatever you use including container but please use large container for plant taro.
If you buy taro or keladi from grocery store, don't throw out the taro top cutting, we can growing taro with that cutting, cut the tip of the taro then leave them in room temperature about two or three days. Prepare container for plant taro cutting. Add organic matter in soil that taro can grow well. After 6 month in the ground (base on varieties) we can harvest taro for our kitchen supply food. I really love eat keladi (or taro) we can steam, make a cake of taro, also we cook taro as vegetable, and don't forget about taro soup.

Can I plant the young shoots and buds from the main taro plant? What a waste to throw them away.

No. existing bulbs will not grow anymore.
How did your harvest crop go in those 20ltr drums? I am thinking about doing the same but I read that you cant grow Taro in containers. Just wondering how your harvest yield went. Thanks so much.,

I live in an area of the USA that is very cold and we only get 5 month of warm weather, so I grow them in containers, so I can bring them in and out when it is warm. They just don't get as big on top.

No need tu plant the taro with tubers. You can eat the tuber if you want. Just cut the top and plant it.

First - compost second - organic fertilizer or organic matter third - organic matter + bonemeal

You can buy taros from an Asian Grocery store there. Choose taros that got a tip/shoot. Cut the tip/shoot about 2 inches from a tuber and then plant them. Hope it helps.

Boleh, cuma kena pilih jenis keladi yang kurang gatal. Antara batang keladi yang sesuai batangnya dibuat sayur adalah keladi cina.

نباتات أذن الفيل ليست مناسبة للنمو في الداخل لأنها تحتاج إلى الكثير من الشمس لكنها تحب الطقس الحار كما هو الحال في الشرق الأوسط. يمكنك محاولة تنميتها في الهواء الطلق.

Dazzling on approach and landing. Cook it n ice and slow. Have it hot or have it cold, eat it with a knife and fork. Ummmmmf. Have it with sea cucumbers and Abalone. In fresh coconut milk sauce.

Ya boleh ditanam semula ditempat lain. Agar banyak pokok keladi. Boleh tuai secara berperingkat pada masa akan datang. Klo tak de tempat nak tanam terpaksa dibuang atau buat kompos jer.

@@roofyiscute7407 absolutely. Soil must in moist condition for best result for your taros plants. So you can use any types of mulch such as compost, grass clippings, straw, dried leaves, pine needles, cocoa hulls and others to help locks in soil moisture and keep soil temperature stable from heat of the sun. But recommended to use organic mulch.
