Growing Old with Cussassa | The Lion Whisperer

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Growing Old with Cussassa | The Lion Whisperer. In today’s video, Kevin Richardson is joined by Dr. Caldwell as lioness Cussassa seems to be sick. As you know, a lot of the lions at the sanctuary are getting older and with age sometimes comes health concerns. Thankfully, Kevin and the team are able to identify what’s wrong with Cussassa despite Sibindie diverting their original plan.

Watching this video underscores to me why relationships (genuine, meaningful) are so important with captive lions; this is how all of our favorite captive lions would have to go down, with all of the stress, etc (hiding in a tree? For a lion to hide in a tree she must’ve been terrified) that goes with ANY movement…and forget enrichment walks and feeling free for just a few moments; clearly, not going to happen. This is why I support Kevin!

Keeping good healing thoughts that Cassassa's treatment allows her to live a relatively pain free life as she ages. You truly are an example on how to care & treat not only lions but all wild animals that are unfortunately having to be in captivity. Thanks Kevin for all you do for all the animals in your care.

Thor and his crew being the nosy neighbours we love! Glad that it's something that can at least be treated symptomatically. Will she allow you to give her meds and things or will that all be mixed with her food?

That was quite an ordeal! You could literally feel the tension in all the lions of the pride, as I am sure they knew that something was wrong with one of their mates. Lucky Cusassa to have such a great home where she is well taken care of. Poor baby, I am hoping she will soon feel better again. Aging is no fun, for no one! It was wonderful to see Gandalf’s pride again, as it has been a while. Your furry friends definitely keep you very busy, and unfortunately also worried at times. Family brings lots of joy but also sorrow from time to time. Thank you for all your wonderful work. Best wishes to everyone at the Sanctuary❣️🙏🏻😻🐾🥰🐾🦁

I must say that, in recent videos, it's good to see glimpses of other staff working with Lions too - it conveys across the message that it takes the whole team to run the sanctuary, not just Kevin. Even if it's just a walk, there is always at least one other person involved (i.e. to drive the truck).
