WE MADE IT! After 4 Years of hard work, blood, sweat & tears we finally got the Live Wild Area (600’000sqm of pure african wilderness) approved by the government of South Africa. The first two lions Dexter & Snow have been released in it and it was a huge success. Seeing them thriving and living a life wilder than anyone could have ever imagined for a captive bred lion is literally the biggest Milestone in the history of the Hakuna Mipaka Oasis. The job is not done though. There is 4 more Lions to be moved to the Live Wild area Leo, Nayla, Kiara & Khaleesi are eagerly waiting for their big Day. All this needs a lot of planning & resources which is the reason why the second movement is most probably going to happen later this year or in the beginning of 2024. I hope You guys enjoy the content and it allows you to experience the most important moments and steps of my life together with Me and the entire Hakuna Mipaka Team. About Dean Schneider:
I am a 30-year old Swiss guy, who dedicated his entire life to the animal world! Nowadays, I live in Africa, I am a member of a lion pride, my wife is a hyena and I’m a daddy of two monkeys. Besides that, I have built a global voice for our planet’s wildlife over the past two years!
Born in Switzerland (Zurich) on October 3, 1992, I was blessed to grow up in a loving family with my sister (one year older) and my parents, who were always very supportive and loving. My mother is originally from the Balkan region (Southeastern Europe), while my dad is a Swiss citizen. I discovered my deep passion for wildlife at the age of six or seven, through the legendary Steve Irwin! He was the one who brought wildlife into my living room in Zurich and inspired and educated me about all kinds of different animal species.
Even though I was so passionate about animals, I originally followed a very ordinary path to adulthood, eventually ending up in the finance industry as a financial advisor. After a very successful year, I decided to found my own company, which then, over the next three years, allowed me to generate the financial foundation to launch the Hakuna Mipaka project at the age of 23-24.
After starting my life in South Africa additional financial support form my Family allowed me to evolve and develop the Hakuna Mipaka Oasis for 2 Years without having to depend on any income sources such as offering touristic visits / programs, breeding or trading of animals, donations or any other monetary businesses!
About Hakuna Mipaka:
The Hakuna Mipaka Oasis is located on around 400 hectares (four million square meters) in the wilderness of South Africa! It is home to thousands of different wild animal species! Besides that, the oasis also serves as a life-long home to a few rescued wild animals, which were born in captivity! We also do rehabilitation programs with different animals, which are then being released back into the wild.
The Hakuna Mipaka Oasis is my personal home and a private sanctuary that is NOT open to the public. We don’t cater to tourists and don’t allow any day visits or animal activities! We don’t breed animals and we are also not trading animals. I built this place for animals and not for humans. The Hakuna Mipaka oasis is a secure, wild & lifelong home to the animals that live here.

I am so choked up right now.. I can’t imagine your emotions when you let Dexter and Snow out into the wild, after raising them for so long. You are such a beautiful and caring soul… I just watched over 3 hours of your videos for the first time, and not only did I get educated about wildlife, but fell in love with the Lion Pride! I hope they survive out in the wild and enjoy their freedom. Bless your heart, Dean. ❤️

It's overwhelming what you have all done in these 4 years. I'm honored to contribute to the realization of this project and to support the HM Oasis, even if my help is a drop in the ocean. You came into my life almost 4 years ago at a difficult time, not just because of the pandemic. You have helped me by giving me beautiful moments, amazing videos, hopeful messages and funny sketches. This is so emotional , and for the lions and you all this huge wild is like home coming for them honestly. A post by Dean ❤❤❤❤ EDIT: It was difficult seeing the lions darted and unconscious was terrifying and heartbreaking. They’re so vulnerable at this point. I know it’s for a very good reason, but you must have been sad, too. But seeing them in their new playground? Pure, childlike JOY 😊 I LOVE that you allowed the prides caretakers to be near them and touch them. What a magnificent day for every one! This documentary will be EPIC. I can’t wait!! I gladly made a donation to the Hikuna Mipaka general fund 💙

Amazing work Dean, I've been here since the very beginning and seeing the start of this new journey is really touching to people hearts. When you started to tear up, I started getting a bit emotional. Every since seeing the lions as cubs and seeing how there are now its so inspiring to see the connection you have with them. We love you so much, keep up the amazing work. I can't wait to see the rest of this journey ❤

This is beautiful and so amazing to see the open wild area that Dexter and Snow can roam, but I can't say I'm not worried about their safety and health now, I worry about poachers being able to come for them now, I pray they can stay safe! 🙏🙏🙏

The bond that you and these lions share is truly awe inspiring, just like that vast habitat you have made for them with Noah and your team. I definitely think humans can have a bridge with the wild.
