Growing Calls For Ursula von der Leyen To Resign Over Support For Israel!

The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is facing calls to resign over her support for Israel following the attack by Hamas. Does the EC president think she speaks for all Europeans, or is this an attempt to gain influence over Israel in the future? Is it hubris or an uncomfortable feeling a German politician has. Anyway it is cut, puts her in a difficult spot.

I'm originally Palestinian. I barely saw my grandparents. The Israelis gave us such a hard time when we wanted to visit relatives in the West Bank. They have killed thousands and thousands of Palestinian and Lebanese people. They have stolen properties of Muslim and Christian lands. They evict people from East Jerusalem. They seize with impunity lands belonging to the Catholic and Orthodox churches, some Orthodox Jews spit on the clergymen and insult them, they surround West Bank towns with settlements and the IDF allows them to attack the people. Though I have an American passport, when I visited years ago, I was kept for 6 hours at the airport. All I wanted was to see elderly relatives. I saw one beautiful aunt before she passed. The irony is she think she is doing something courageous and brave by "standing with Israel". It's a performative stunt with immense consequences. Literally everybody condemns killing innocent people and war, but most people with a brain also recognizes that Israel has facilitated this conflict, playing a large role in driving it to where it is today. The fact that she took it upon herself to "represent" the entirety of the EU in the fashion she did is not only dangerous (as it will lead to an absolute slaughter of civilians, making the crimes of Hamas look like something a Sunday school child performed) but also incredibly damaging to the European Union as a concept - where she feels it is her _right_ to speak for all peoples of Europe, when it is her _privilege to work_ for them; not represent them as she has not been elected by EU member states to do so. She has consistently weakened our Union, and strengthened neoliberalism over the years at the cost of those who have the least. She is incredibly dangerous not only in a concrete fashion to human lives but also the European Union. The question is how or why, does she think she has the right to give Israel a carte blanche to perform extreme violence, on behalf of EU member states, essentially making us all, culprits in the human rights abuse that Israel itself has said it will perform, openly and willingly.

Are you trying to imply that because I believe Palestinians shouldn't be bombed out of their homes I think other people should be. It doesn't mater if you are Palestinian, Armenian, Afghani, Kurd or any other person or nationality you should not be a target for military aggression if you are non-combatant. You don't fix problems by attack civilians, you make problems by doing it. If you start killing people to get to HAMAS do you think that helps or hinders HAMAS? All you do is instil in people a reason to continue the cycle of violence by becoming the next one to pick up the gun to fire at your enemy in the future. HAMAS didn't appear out of thin air, they are a product of the Arab war in 1967 where Israel took large portions of Palestine post the 6 Day War and still occupy them to this day. When there was a car crash near a refugee camp in 1987 this led to massive protests and civil disobedience against Israel. The IDF used lethal force to put down the protests which is what led to the formation of HAMAS and the PLO and other Sunni Islamic Terrorist groups. So you see what I mean about killing civilians makes people want to kill the people that did it? Maybe if the US, UK and Russian didn't play proxy war in the Middle East for over 100 years we wouldn't be in this mess, top that off with a slice of having no balls to tell Israeli Government to go F itself because they scream "anti-Semitism" or Holocaust like they were the only people killed in the camps on mass so people tip toe around them. It's about time the international community grew a pair and told Israel to knock it off. HAMAS is not the whole of Palestine or Gaza the people in Gaza don't even want them there.

You should be mad at HAMAS not Israel. Israel are stuck with Neyathu since 1989, Palestine with Hamas since 1988. I was hoping the Gaza bombing was a bluff to see how the world would react and see which Palestinians would stay indoors like how Hamas told their members to, but Bibi is too bloodthirsty....but it's undeniable that for 75 years, recorded on the history books, Palestine always strikes first. Cyprus had the Cyprus problem happen once in the 70s, the Arabic side striked first (huh) and ever since the UN was a mediator for both countries in one. UN was supposed to do that too here but guess who refused? And before you say Israel was the invader, Judea is where it comes from first. They've been fighting since the David Goliath days. This can actually not end in our lifetimes. So let's stop siding like a goddamned football squad and observe the conflict with facts shall we? No side is innocent here, let's not kid ourselves

But at the same time, the British promised an independent State to the local Arab population. You're all way out of your depth. Right now, hamas is pounding Israel, mainly Jerusalem and Tel Aviv with rockets. 700 a day. hamas has had rockets with 160km range for almost a decade. But for the defence systems Israel has developed the lives lost would have been immeasurable. Living there is like living in London during the blitz. You get a minute warning to get into a bomb shelter. hamas has taken over the homes of ordinary people by force and turned their living quarters into arsenals and kitchens into missile silos. And when one involuntary domestic military station is found and destroyed, hamas moves to the next house or flat. The IDF is trying to shut this down. Their aim is to destroy hamas, a terrorist gang with a manifesto to destroy Israel, kill Jews, rape the corpses of their women and kill everyone that isn't a devout sunni muslim. They are profoundly misogynistic and execute homosexuals. And when the IDF warns it is going to bomb, that is where hamas moves the hostages. hamas is ruled by a head honcho living the life of Riley in hog heaven in Doha. And two of his sisters have emigrated to Israel where all have rights as citizens. They have done well; and their children have served in the IDF. And these white faces that you see in London and similar demonstrations chanting "from the river to the sea" are antisemites that have come out of the woodwork, feeling that their murderous antisemitism has been legitimated. Hamas would kill them too, given half a chance. I wouldn't like to have to deal with this conundrum, but in the first instance hamas must be taken out, like ISIS was. It will be impossible without bloodshed. But remember that hamas are barbarians that decapitate babies and display the ravaged mutilated bodies of beautiful women they have raped and killed as trophies, spitting on them in their victory laps of honour. Anyone that calls this cowardice "retaliation" is beneath contempt
