    They're VERY large. I have many Vivobarefoot shoes and boots and these are MASSIVE. I'd size down by TWO sizes next time with these boots.

    I noticed the sizing was more generous too, but I found my regular size worked well for me. It seems like fit can really vary based on personal preference. Out of curiosity, were you wearing these with or without sock 🧦? Were you able to exchange them through the 100-day return policy? Thanks for watching and being part of the conversation

    thank you so much. These are my first vivobarefoot (gobi sneaker canvas). My first barefoot sneakers were saguaro shoes. I want to buy a second vivobarefoot that can be used for a little bit of everything. for everyday life and for going through the mountains. Would you recommend any specific model Owen? Thank you!

    I’m so glad they are making grounded shoes now. Those boots are gorgeous. Hope they make them in black too. And more rugged styles. No more trying to hack my shoes with grounding straps or drilling holes etc. I’m super exited to try a pair!

    @@OwenJackson I was so intrigued by the idea that I started looking for some other brands earlier today. There are a few but the one I was most interested in is Harmony783. They have a couple nice styles but they aren’t barefoot style. They look quite flat though. But I haven’t seen anything nearly as nice as these new vivos. The other brands are just doing very basic shoes that look like they’re made of hemp or sandals. I’m very impressed by these. Grounding is the key

    I think the design is elegant and has a real classic look, right. If you're looking for a boot with additional lining, check out my Scott review: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZpZ1pqeClrjAeLA.html. What features do you prioritise most when choosing a boot?

    @@OwenJackson I have seen the video, thank you! I am looking for something leather but unlined as I find that more versatile. I can make it warmer or cooler with different socks. Something that works okay on light trails (packed), pavement for walking the dogs and casual use. The Scott boot in an Unlined form would be great. The Gobi looked like a winner, but I hesitated, and they disappeared off of the US site. They brought it back the other day but only in Braken and only 1 size. So hopefully it is just a stock issue and I'll get one in the future. For my particular foot shape and size, I think it would be awesome if they made an Addis boot, six inch or so. I hope to visit the UK store when I am back in the EU. I'll need a pair of hiking boots as well, but I am not sure which way to go there. I like the idea of the stitched down soles, but we do most of our Hiking in Spain in hard packed sand and dirt, so I think a FG sole is better for that use case. As such, I have been considering the Magna Leather FG. Anyway, I enjoy your videos and love the shots of nature! Please continue to share your journey.

    As always awesome content and review. I got in to grounded a few months back, as you say even if a placebo, I feel great. Have #goundology mat at my desk, #EarthRunner sandals and even earthed my #Lumi recovery pod. 😀There is no substitute for nature, part of why I love my Cold Plunge 20 min at the start of the day in nature, relaxing, breathing and moving. I do need to get some #ViVo soon. My youngest starts school this year and want to get them some ViVo before their feet a ruined.

    @@OwenJackson Have a groundology mat in the bottom for now. But now I have upgraded to the Pod Pro I will use earthing rob in the ground and then connect to the metal fixings that the water is cycled through to the chiller unit - hopefully that will work as well and will be neater. I appreciate you are not in for long but, as you know, your hole body is submerged so lots of 'connection'.

    Hey Owen, great video! I'm a big barefoot shoe fan, going back 10+ years to the early Vivo barefoot models. Can you tell me the differences and advantages/disadvantages of the Pilgrim vs the Scott IV, in terms of the feel and structure and design? Thanks!

  • @OwenJackson

    @OwenJackson

    Ай бұрын

    Hey Marley, great to hear you're a long-time barefoot convert. Thanks for watching 🦶📺 The Pilgrim and the Scott share some common DNA 🧬 but have slight differences in feel. The Pilgrim has a stitched sole to aid conductivity and feels roomier size-for-size compared to the Scott. They are great for spring and summer wear. Due to my increased ground awareness, I find them extremely light. Despite their large silhouette, they are nimble and agile. The Pilgrim also has fewer eyelets, which aids flexibility when wearing. I noticed I tend to lace them all the way up, unlike the Scott, where I usually leave the top one or two eyelets loose. This gives me more freedom of movement around the ankle. The Scott is super cozy with its soft brushed lining, making it a staple in my autumn and winter wardrobe. They are perfect for a jaunt through the woods or sitting by a fire. Although similar on the outside, they serve different purposes. Both have an elegant, classic design. And with the same sole patterning, offered comparable grip. Which one are you most tempted by? Please let me know if I can help any further, and thanks again for your support 🙏

    How are they grounding without any apparent conductive material on the bottom? Wouldn't the rubber block the electrons?

  • @OwenJackson

    @OwenJackson

    5 күн бұрын

    Hey Mike. Thanks for watching. I'm familiar with the concept but not the construction. The product info on the website states CONDUCTIVE OUTSOLE: Made up of a series of conductive elements that connect and create a pathway for electrons to flow between your body and the Earth's surface. CONDUCTIVE LEATHER FOOTBED: Fixed to the outsole with silver stitching Are you a barefoot fan? Is grounding something you incorporate in your routine?

    @@OwenJacksonI am interested in the concept of grounding. These shoes are $230 so I want to be sure they do actually ground. I don't understand how they physically could if there are no conductive materials beneath the rubber or flush with the rubber surface. You know what I mean?

  • @evanssabbi
    @evanssabbiАй бұрын

    Looks like a beautiful boot. Intrigued by the conductive tech incorporated in the shoes. My only hesitation comes in how flexible it would be to wear on a day to day. I have the Scott’s and they are a tad bit too heavy and not as flexible on the ankle region. Might still give them a shot. D

  • @OwenJackson

    They look great right 🤩 🧡 👍 As they have a similar design to the Scott in which they are based, their movement capacity is similar, however, I feel that as they are lighter and don’t have the thick brushed lining, they offer more manageability. Don’t forget to grab yourself a discount using the code in the description. And with a 100 day return policy you can be safe in the knowledge that you have some security, should they not be the right boot for you 😊

    @@OwenJacksonWhile I personally haven't attempted to experience grounding via an apparatus I do walk barefoot more often than not and haven't experienced any of the claimed health benefits from the article you shared. Also, doing research of my own it seems like many of the claimed benefits can be related to the increased exposure of movement opportunities as well as copper. Many people will heal faster and experience a decrease in inflammation after moving short distances or walking and copper has proved to be an excellent antibacterial agent which can also help decrease inflammation and improve the rate of healing. Placebo is also a factor than can be taken into account, though currently unknown specifically for grounding, there are counts of people becoming healthier simply because they believe they will be healthier. Also, as an engineer, I know there is no current being generated by our bodies that would be discharged and the much of the earth (the surfaces we'd be walking on like dirt, mud, or grass) does not have the ability to ground us to anything. If it helps people via placebo, the harm is minimal but stating that these shoes will provide this explicit benefit based off of purely speculatory research is in essence pseudoscience. I enjoy your content and am an avid supporter of the barefoot movement but the idea behind grounding is not founded in science and is likely just another way for corporations to tap into a market of nature lovers.

    Hi Andrew, thank you for sharing your perspective and experiences with grounding. It's interesting to hear about the potential benefits of increased movement and the antibacterial properties of copper. We can all benefit from the lotion of motion and more time in nature 🍃 Considering the scientific standpoint you mentioned, do you think there's a way to study the placebo effect in grounding more effectively? Your reply was not deleted. I'm unsure what gave you that impression. I'm responding to it now to ensure your thoughts are included in the discussion. Check out what free radicals are and how antioxidants help reduce free radicals, then check out how they prevent damage when they solder circuit boards, then check out how and why we ground our houses, then check out how nerve signals and how we meassure heart activity, then you can check out how lightning occur, then you can check out voltage potential of cells... if you dig into this a little bit and put the pieces together it might make sense to you. Everything around us and inside us are electric. I was sceptical to, but when I researched it started making sense. Grounding is not just an idea, it's logic on a nuclear level if you take time to acquire knowledge.
