    You amaze me with each video and truly calm my nerves when planning to DIY my daughters wedding. I’ll be putting in my order this week. She wants baby breath and roses and thinking of adding other white flowers for the ground arrangements. Do you think if I added more water the next day to the foam I can make two days ahead?

    We're so glad we could help alleviate some of the planning pressure! That sounds like such a pretty idea! Keeping the foam wet will definitely help in ensuring that the flowers are receiving water and continuing to drink. If making them two days ahead of time, we suggest creating the pieces in foam using a lomey design bowl. Using the bowl will ensure that you can pour a small reserve of water into the bottom of the dish to keep the foam wet.

    We're so happy you found it helpful! You'll want to make sure that you're watering your ferns to keep them fresh. We found these ones as a garden center!

    Love this! I've been looking at adding potted plants into my ground arch this October, but all of the ones at the garden center of course come in those black plastic pots. Did you repot your ferns? Thanks!

    If the ferns are big enough you won't be able to see the pots, but you can try simply dropping them into a decorative basket or container that fits your wedding vibe! No need to repot!

    Can we just do the boston fern idea and add flowers to it if we want more of a greenary look (so bypass the floral piece you two made in the beginning of the video)? Also, can we add flowers to fern the night before the event?

    Just doing ferns would also be cute! You may want to consider wanter picking them if you are adding them the day before!

    Very helpful video! Would placing the arrangements in a cool, dark basement be ok for one night? Thank you!!

  • @FlowerMoxie

    Keeping your arrangements in a cool dark basement is always great! Your flowers will last longer in a cool environment and kept away from bright sunny windows! If you're creating the arrangements the day before and using the lomey bowl or floral cage technique, make sure to keep the foam saturated so that it's still providing a water source for your blooms. If you're placing the stems directly into the plant you'll want to water tube the blooms or place them directly the day of the event!

    this is so helpful! May I ask which size Lomey bowl is for which size Oshun pouch? Can the regular pouch work with the 6" bowl? thanks!

  • @FlowerMoxie

    @FlowerMoxie

    We used a 9" Lomey Bowl for this design! Oshun pouches come in 2 different sizes. We used the large one here so the smaller one would work perfectly in a 6" bowl!

    This is a great idea! Approximately how many flowers are you using to back fill the ferns?

  • @FlowerMoxie

    @FlowerMoxie

    5 ай бұрын

    We used about the same amount of flowers per fern that we did for the arrangements in the lomey bowls so the design would be consistent throughout the entire grounded arch!

    Do these generally stay upright?? I’m having an outdoor ceremony & would be placing it on concrete (so we can’t stake it into the ground).

  • @FlowerMoxie

    @FlowerMoxie

    These definitely stay upright! If you're worried about them tipping, try widening the surface area of your base by using a Lomey Design bowl instead of a floral foam cage. The plants have enough weight to them that they'll stay upright easily!

    When should I make my floor floral pieces? I’m making 2 for in front of our sweetheart table. Wedding is a Saturday.

    You can make these 1-2 days before your Saturday wedding! When making your arrangements ahead of time be sure to keep your flowers in a cool dark area of your home, away from bright sunny windows and away from any heating vents and the blooms with be beautiful for the big day!

    How do you keep the flower arch from blowing away outside?

  • @FlowerMoxie

    @FlowerMoxie

    That is a great point! If the day is super windy, you'll want to make everything is super secure, like adding weights to the plants and making sure the flowers are picked into the plants. Hopefully the weight of the flowers and plants/other mechanics is enough to weight everything down. Fingers crossed you don't have gale force winds on your wedding day1

    Thanks! Using a knife over snips is all about personal preference! For DIY brides and florists starting out, a sharp pair of snips that you clean frequently will do the trick too! It take awhile to become comfortable enough using a knife without cutting yourself (the number of slices I had when I first started out, yikes!). Whatever the best option is for you is the best way to go!

    I don't understand how everything doesn't wilt right away, There's no water in the bowls!

  • @FlowerMoxie

    By using a floral material like floral foam or an oshun pouch, that becomes the hydration source for the stems! You can also use containers that hold water if you're worried about the flowers wilting.

    I’m amazed at your patience with constantly picking up and (loudly) clunking down clippers. Learn to use a knife and it never has to leave your hand as you design.

    Plus you have less wide surface holes in your mechanics. And you get a much sharper angle cut so flowers have more surface area to drink (still a Challenge in foam)

  • @FlowerMoxie

    @FlowerMoxie

    Using a knife for florals definitely has it's benefits and if you're a professional florist using one to get a sharper, cleaner cut is definitely one of them! Since learning to use a knife can have a learning curve, we recommend using snips for DIY brides and people who are first starting out. Cutting at an angle is always the best!

    Depending on the quantity and varieties of the flowers used as well as the install and breakdown, the cost can creep up to that for a single arch!
