Finally a recent video on grounded

Just started back playing since it launched and mannnn its improved alottttt. Just the bug AI itself is much better. Never noticed the lamp at the oak tree being on at night but I noticed it so I camped by it and in the morning there was gnats swarming the light and one was caught in a random web that was by the lamp.👌🏻 pretty neat

You can place more than one. My buddy and I have 3 under the straw that all have filled up. When one is full, the drops roll off it and into one of the others. We have them in a sort of triangle formation under the straw.

The best place for a single player is on baseball because it has everything you need. Food, building materials, protection from insects, an analysis station, etc. If you play with several people, there is not enough space at baseball.

For the baseball expand out a tiny bit and build up. Give each floor a purpose. You can easily do a 5x5 if not 6x6 in multiplayer.

You are in-fact correct there is a wolf-spider near the big flat rock. I made a base there, and encountered it at least twice- scared the crap out've me with my poor fighting skills against it.

At the 1st base, build a water container right up under the juice box straw so when it drips out, it'll fill it up with free juice to quench your thirst. The base at 11:10 has another issue early on too. A Wolf spider patrols thru there. 100% confirmed on that one. I built a base in the hedge in the tree limbs way up above the concrete bird bath and it's pretty dope. Lots of berries up there and such. And you can put a zip line up there as well.

Thanks for sharing! My main base is up on top of the juice box by the mystery machine. I chose it because I had so much trouble finding water in the beginning. I think the droplet spawns were broken at that point 🤣. Its also very high up and central so it is now perfect for ziplining around the map, while being protected from insects. I was SO worried when the crow/ bees were added though!

I built my base on the flat rock next to the pond which is in front of the entrance to Burgle. I do get the odd wolf spider walking by(even walled up 2 of the exits under the tree).

after watching this I started to build on that rock next to the pond and a few wolf spiders came and checked the place out every evening. very high traffic area for them. right up where you suggested building. I ended up killing my first one cause it bugged out but not after it destroyed alot of my stacks of materials and chests. went to the lily pad right after that

once you build a platform on the baseball, you can just expand the floor out as much as you want and much larger

i like the stones at the pond too, but beware there is a chace for a wolfspider visit at night there (they patrol sometimes the juicebox). but its a good place to farm toxin from them (3 spawns)

Another good spit to build a base is 8nside the decorative concrete structure by the pond. It's actually qhere I have my base. You are going to need to build a bridge to get to it though. Aslo comes with your own personal Annalising tent.

We always build on the wood fence by the Oaktree, not too close to the spiders, specifically the one without the science station, spiders never come to the first post. and we put all of our building material under the leaf so it looks like a lil overhanging. and you can build along the fence each post having its own use (i.e. sleep/food, chests, spinners/drying wrack.)

Really great vid that has held up over 10 months. @ 9 min is where I’ve built all of my solo bases from day one and I’ve played since literal day one, still 100% viable as of update .12 and imo almost centrally located to all locations early & late game. I did have to set up palisade walls on both sides of the under rock opening to prevent bugs from going under which don’t harm you but are annoying to hear constantly. You don’t need immediate structures to live here so it relieves a lot of early game stress.

Im happy with my base next to the first field station. Its pretty centralized between everything so I can build a zipline to get to everywhere. It just took me a good while to build a ladder up high enough to set up the network. I can easily set a zipline to get to everywhere I need and make return lines with minimal effort. I got to the oak tree near the flower bed but im planning to next set myself up for the hedge so I can easily travel into it for berry leather and web fiber. Its also great for when I eventually reach the sandbox. My only former problem was fireflies attracted by my exposed dew collector, which in turn attracted a wolf spider. Building up a second floor and roof over the dew collector has solved that problem since its no longer a giant beacon. Its close to mint, clay, mushrooms, and just about everything else I need.

Nice video! I've been playing recently and love this game! It's a bit daunting at first but very fun after a few plays. My first base is right next to the mysterious machine. Since it's on the ground though, I built an outside perimeter wall to keep spiders and such from getting too close. It's worked great and I'll be showing more in my vids, but just an idea to keep the critters from being at your house walls!

I don’t recommend building right next to the pond Bc I have a wolf spider that regularly passes by and when it was early on it was terrifying and still is but you can also block off the wolf spider den and you can also live on the juice box

I've built on the baseball and got ziplines that are starting to go all around the garden :3

The hardest base I think you should build is in the higher layer of the hedges. I dont believe we've seen all the storyline unfold here yet. It will also serve as a dungeon type of run for farming later in the patchwork. I can see the Taze bots being respawnable. It will be a good place to grind raw science even if at just 10 points a pop. If not for raw science taze bots might drop batteries or something needed for future tech or story elements. Unlock the hedge lab doors with the code and go up to the room with all the supplies. Drop down from the broken wall onto the nearest branch of the tree. You will see another one of those indestructible orange leaves. Build your base on this leaf. Stock it with gear, food, water, and dandelion tofts. There are many ways up to this base learn your ways up here. If you climb on top of the tunnels all you have to fight are the spiderlings.

when you build on the stones near the pond just remember wolf spiders can come down there one killed me there once

I have a tower for that purpose. I high tail it up there and start shooting arrows and then finish him off with the mint mace. Wolf spiders are so broken too. I had one spawn under the rock surface and the juicebox. Super random and in broad daylight.

The base by the juicebox/koi pond is a lot more dangerous now because of the wolf spiders spawning inside the oak tree. They'll always come down to that area at night...sometimes 2 of them at once

@8:34 is a perfect spot to put a base I’ve had my base there since day one and the stick is an easy access to my base. Got my base up to 3 story’s tall

First base I built was on top of the picnic table. Took a lot of tries to get there but it’s pretty dope. As far as the bee aggro it’s mostly to the north east side of the table (died multiple times to bees there) they also sleep on the ground there to. If your new be careful as to the south east of the picnic table there is a bombardier beetle there. It does have a research station on to just fair warning sap doesn’t spawn close. There is a juice box on top and apple slices and cookie pieces up there and on the south bench

I made my base at the big flat Rock and have found to be a great location. The orb weavers are easy to avoid and even if they do aggro they can easily be out run and the bombardiers will lose aggro as soon as get ontop the rock. Its right next to the red ant hill so you can gather eggs quickly for bratburst. Has quick access to the pond and with ziplines you can go back forth between the oak tree with ease.

Usually I build my first base behind the first station, in front on that huge rock! I find it pretty good since larger bugs aren’t common near that station, exception of the ladybug that will pass though every now and then, but they’re not a problem. It’s close to the stinkbug spawn, although not so close that they’ll go bother you, and the western anthill is just right behind you! It’s pretty convenient! (And the station is always a plus) Although on the base on the rocks next to the oak tree, I have a wolf spider that loves going down there- even in the day despite the ai-

Damn! I played it shortly after the initial release and we explored everything and quit it. Now the game looks daunting to play.. Have start the grind..

Latest update in the garden has the pond wall near the oak tree as a common patrol point for a wolf spider. Leads past the juice box, almost to where the middle rose is.

I got my base on the mysterious machine. Just gotta cover the machine holes and spike trap the leaf where they can crawl up and it’s solid. I get crow feathers often, high ground is good.

haha wanted to see what was on yt for base location ideas and all the ones you recommended are where I had bases almost exactly

I just can't see myself building too far from the Oak Tree, it just feels more like home than any other spot.

id say the big flat rock towards the end of the log fence that the orb weavers spawn is a really good area to live as bugs cannot get on it and the bombardier beetles and stinkbugs fight eachother constantly so its free glue and brittle whetstone

We built our base on the big flat rock to the North West. It's surrounded by orb spiders but they can't bother you. We're playing as a duo and are easily able to kill orb spiders but wolf spiders are still too tough. We have all the level 2 stuff but don't really know what we should do now. Maybe explore underwater, the pond is nearby.

In terms of getting on top of the bird bath, the bounce web inside of a tower works really well

You don't need to build it in a tower, that takes too long. Build a bounce we in front and to one side of where the tower will be. Build square scaffolding on top of each other until you have 3 levels. Build a grass platform attached to the front of the tower, and a second one attached to the side of the first platform, on the opposite side to the original bounce web, so it hangs out past the tower. Build a bounce web on the side platform. Repeat this alternating the sides for the platform so you zig zag up the tower. You can build crazy high really quickly with a small amount of resources.

its a shame alot of these locations are no longer suitable,anywhere near the pond now has the mosquitos,wolf spiders now patrol everywhere and once agroed will jump up into your base.Bees near the flowers also become a problem and the fireflies at night too.

I worry about my bases as the devs like to move POI's during some updates. The picnic table comes to mind. I made my main base on the oak tree and that's my main hub to other areas.

I see everybody talking about the base spot east of the oak tree, up on that log thing. As you said, there is to much spiders in that area. I always build my base on the west side of the oak tree. There is also a log you can build on. You don't need to build stairs because you can just walk up on the leaf. No bugs, insects or spiders can get up there what I've seen. And it even have a field station under that leaf. There is two spiders near that spot. But they are easy to get around. The mosquitos are to far away to agro you. But close enough when you need to kill some :)

Ive been playing the game since the day the game released and I've had my base on the top of the pond since then and its the best spot

The Wolf Spider does a lap near your water build at night though.

Made my first base on one of the big lilypads close to one end of the pond, near the juice box. Best location! you can eat fish, bugs, have water close and all building resources!

was going to build near the pond near the oak tree, got planks pallet all ready, then all of a sudden wolf spiders started to patrol through there towards me and were getting way to close to me, sooooo not going to build there now lol, managed to flee from there without detection.

I built a castle on top of the mysterious machine before they removed our ability to build there. Super sweet spot.

First time playing, I literally built a base underneath the tree where the spider spawns. I came back to my base and heard hissing sounds (C_C)

That spider hunting you across the yard thing is real. I had three wolf spiders track me across the whole map one night. There was nowhere I could go that would lose them. Wherever I became vulnerable, they were there.

I'm trapping out of the can right now near the analyzer tent..lol I have lower level base on the ground and I recently built a spiral case that leads to the top of the can so we getting there..

Hmmm grass and weeds grow back even if you chop the stems down.... guess that was updated? I love that though....cos they will grow through your base, so it looks pretty cool.

The flat rock in front of the etch-a-sketch is a much better place than most of these. The only bugs that ever get up there (even though it is basically flat) are a red worker ant. Just make sure to do it by the water so the beetles don't bother you. You don't have to build a floor. Tadpoles are nearby. Grass and dandylions nearby. Pebblets, and plant fiber close. Quartzite in the cave nearby. Not super far to burgl, and pretty safe to swim to (there is a flat rock on the side of the pond on the way that three mosquitoes live on, so swimming is safest). It gives great access to the upper yard, particularly if you build a way up both levels.

Their were two wolf spiders at the shrink Ray thing for me !

Know I'm a year late but I always build my main base on the side of the oak tree ends up being nice bug space and looks great plus it's out of reach of bugs and you don't need a trail marker as well the tree servers as one

i have a massive base in the Lotus Tower , built all the way up and around. I have a zip line tower where your juice box is and i send weed stems via zipline. I built a bridge from the top to the upper unfinished area so i could zipline down unlimited grass planks to the base too. I just had to build a walking bridge from the rose bed to the tower.

A decent base is next to the Battletoad. There isn’t a large spot to build but it is very safe being essentially an island. Land bugs won’t chase you through the water. There is grass, stems, and clay. It’s next to a analysis station but it does have Stinkbugs. It’s also decently close to the Hedge.

@@MediocreMilton I haven’t seen them when I’m there. The home is actually my friend’s on a multiplayer world. Maybe I just haven’t been there when they are there, but they don’t seem be at the Battletoad. Only factor in not giving a great answer is my friend and I have been at the Oak Tree and my base at the mysterious machine making a zip line system to make a “fast travel” so to speak since Mosquitoes were added. However my friend has gone back and forth a lot seeing if he has the materials at his chest. Just logged on and checked and I don’t see any mosquitoes. With the path of going from the oak tree or even mysterious machine going to the Battletoad I haven’t encountered a mosquito yet. I actually have seen them on the west side of the oak tree where you were talking about so far. However I am very picky about my routes I take as the spiders freak me out. I don’t have a fear but they make me paranoid ever since me and my friend had a joint base partially built and an orb weaver snuck in and made me almost pee my pants lol.

I got the game like 6 months ago and have been playing a lot recently. But when I first started I didn’t know where to build a base. So I just built on the mystery machine. While in the beginning there where no spiders there is now a wolf spider outside of my base

My main base is actually on the baseball. I just built up. I have a 3-story house on a baseball

the best place for a base at the start is on the lily pads in the pond. no bugs can get to it at all. even better than building on the rocks. and the second base you should build is high up next to the tree trunk. build a long flight of stairs going toward the tree. the further away you start the stairs, the higher you will get. it offers a great view. protected from bugs. and with the addition of ziplines, you can make lines to anywhere in the yard buy building a floor around the tree. most of the base ideas in this video are still too vulnerable imo.

High, somewhat newer player from the future. Just a heads up, if you want a base at the Koi Pond, build it on the lily pads near the stone lamp or even in the stone lamp itself. The reason for this is because the Wolf Spider that patrols the shoreline can and will jump from lily pad to lily pad as part of it's route, so building anywhere near the Oak Tree shoreline is an absolutely terrible idea if you aren't geared up for fighting Wolf Spiders.

I personally built on the log fence thing (near the orb weavers and stinkbugs, honestly, best place in the game. you have such easy access to gas sacks and web fiber (literally just use a bow, you will rarely use a close range weapon in this game.) gas sacks can be used to make gas arrows which can be used to farm much stronger insects like wolf spiders, Orb weavers don't actually go up to where the staircase was shown to be, I've seen it happen twice before, both pretty recent but you can either kill it or block it off with a wall or two, stinkbugs are really your only immediate threat while inside your base, but they don't ever come right up against the log fence unless you agro them, and their gas cloud won't reach you unless their like right below you while you're on the log wall. if you are a builder like me I suggest building across to the lamp where the gnats swarm, then just turn that into a little food factory, again you will rarely ever eat roast meat once you have this as you will be stock piling jerky in the tonnes (actually had a full chest of jerky before I got lazy and stopped resupplying it lol) wolf spiders will occaisionally wander by, but I just use walls and cage them inside the tree, on top of the abundance of farmable insects and the landmarks nearby, it has many highly useful resources nearby, again if you're a builder or are attempting to make the gnat farm you will need a lot of grass planks and weed stems, in which ant armor is a must. but lucky you that location has grass planks, weed stems, acorn shells and tops, sap, plant fibre and sprigs and clovers, pebbles you can find around the tree and there is the abandoned ant hill if you ever need quartzite, or ant parts, there are a few mushrooms around, not an insane amount, but the exchange rate of mushroom chunks into slurry and slurry into bricks is insane, I made a second oven and still get overwhelmed by the amount of slurry I have waiting to turn into bricks while my two ovens are working overtime. the only resources that I do not have in easy abundance are the new resources for the upper yard (Roly Poly parts, Ox parts, Dust mite and Lint fuzz, Terrmite parts and chompers and pupae hide and splinters, but there is easy access to feathers if you build across the pond to the stone thingy as the crow will land there. I've done quite a lot and made a really crazy base just from abusing this one base location, only things I ever find myself really needing and not easily being able to get are the new items for the upper yard, clay and berry leather, I am currently working on a zipline system which will allow easy access for these resources and much more. anyway, here's the TLDR: bugs aren't too bad of a problem, their abundance is useful for farming, the lamp can be turned into an epic food farm, build tall to make the best of ziplines, and abuse the heck out of long range weaponry.

I've been playing Grounded for about a week (I don't get far cuz I keep restarting) but I REALLY like building on the shore of the Pond. There're only two issues I've had with that; 1.) I get raided by Orb Weavers, and 2.) The wolf spider (the one under the Oak Tree) patrols along there at night and constantly gets stuck on the plants there.

making stairs to the juice box could be helpful, as few creatures get on top of it, but you will have to make a proper floor

The house you built by the juice box... my game has a wolf spider patrol along the water edge at random. But he does go as far as around the outside of the juice box. I have a starter platform on the lily pad that is near a brown leaf by the rock edge. A wolf spider jumped on it once, but he died. Drowned I guess. My game also has a wolf spider partol over near the detection hut that's by the baseball every few nights. I had to build a little hut on top of a rock. But the wolf spider can attack the floor if it is too close to the edge of the the rock. Oh, and I was swimming across the water yesterday and found the game had red spiders that swim under the water... It was about the middle and eastern part of the pond. So now swimming has me on edge.

Personally the big flat rock close to red anthill the nw area is perfect its close to the koi pond and the haze and picnics table

I HAVE seen a Wolf Spider in the western part of the Hedge...

9:04 says you should build here when theres orb weavers, wolf spiders, and bombadiers. You when you build there: what a night, instead of skipping it. I should look at it. My house is a mushroom castle on the end of the wooden fence it I say it's a good spot but be careful there are a lot of orb weavers and a few mosquitos.

I thought that if you cut the stem down that the plant grows back faster?

The spot you're talking about at 09:00 is the best one and your comments unfortunately already were incorrect back then when this video was made... No wolf spiders there, the bombardier beetles can't really hurt u up there and the bees are no problem at all. This spot is the best from minute 1 until the end of the game IMO

All the base he recommended are ok likr the big rock in the middle of the map is the best and thats were i started at and had no problem

I built on the big flat rock and then I built a "highway" on top of the big fence straight to the oak tree. I never have problems with the spiders then.

Before I watch, I built on the slab of stone that stands alone near the etch-a-sketch, and near the end of the cylindrical garden border. It is close to water, a red ant hill, has clover, weeds, fiber, twigs, dry grass, grass, flowers, and tons of webbing to farm along the garden border. There are grubs, aphids, ants, boiling beetles, whatever they are called, orb weavers, and over past the etch-a-sketch there are stink bugs and farther down, mosquitoes. It is a short run to the big tree, and in the flower bed area, mosquitoes, ladybugs, aphids, orb weavers and a science lab, and another ant hill. I have been finding more weevils inside ant hills than anywhere else.

I constructed a tower that goes about 80 stories high above the two story base, with a big shooting floor on top, where several zip lines are set up to go to key spots. So far I have one going to the picnic table, the porch at the opposite end than the wood pile, and one that goes 147 rope across the yard to the corner inside the berry bushes.

Same place as yours 8:50 The mistake I made was to construct a small staircase up from the medium sized rock to the slab and now ants can come up there.

Yeah, Orb weavers and Spiderlings are great for webs. Wear Ladybug armour and use a good weapon (Club of the Mother Demon), you can take them out really easily.

Hi can you make a video on creating an elevator in the NEW update hot and hazy. I created a new game and I'm regretting it because I can't make the elevators the same way I used to before the update.

There didnt used to be as many spiders by the tree but they updated the spawns so now theres 6 wolf spiders and 4 to 5 orb weavers that spawn around the base of the tree

What i do down there is build a small easly defendable tower on the rocks with a zip line to and from my base thats usually situated on a lily pad.

Pogota is what the stone structure in the pond is called.

For me and my friend grass respawns/grows back even if we cut down the bottom part. I think it stops respawning only if you build on top of it.

If you leave the roots it doesn't grow back I think

The only way to prevent regrowth of is to place permanent foundation (Clay or Pebble) over it.

By the water is now a mosquito spawn and a wolf spider roams quiet frequently now

I remember when this game released the hedge was sooooo dangerous

The first time I played, I built my base on the other plateau by the mystery machine, which now has a foot print on it. Yeah. Now I'm on the leaf plateau.

idk about the second house since i started playing fro a while i would try to make a house there but a spider will always end up killing me so i just chosse the pond it fits better to me and i just build a fance to keep the ants away. Also idk about dont cut the steam thing becuse i have cut the steam and they have always grown back for me even befor you made this video they have always grown back for me??
