He is exactly looking like my baby .. I have the same set . But never attempted to do the entire process with scissors and I just use it after clipping. You gave me the confidence to attempt it now. I also feel his nails need to be trimmed they are very lengthy.

I think you did a great job. Your puppy is really nicely behaved and looks cute with his new style. I saw on another clip that a lady mixed a little doggy conditioner with water in a squirt bottle and misted the fur before she brushed it (with a pin head brush - no plastic balls on the end) and then did the same using the comb. She said it made the fur easier to brush and helped stop the fur breaking. Have fun with your beautiful pup.

@@boofyhalfpint8559 Quite well. I keep a spray bottle around and keep spraying water on his fur frequently during hot afternoons. I also feed him ice cream and yogurt.

You did an amazing job! I would leave more fur on paws and round them. Also, Lhasa’s usually have a square shaped mussel. Just my preference as I have been cutting my 3x Maltese and now 2x Lhasa Apso’s at home for the past 20 years and I have to say it takes practice and you learn and get better,,, but mistakes are still made occasionally no matter how many times you’ve groomed your dog.

Better use a heavy duty saloon type trimmer. I use a Brite electric trimmer for my spitz which is bought from wholesale market. Using a trimmer along with scissors makes the cut uniform.

Due to this virus, our usual dog groomer shutdown and now I need to groom my princess by myself, I'm terrified because I don't wanna mess her hair up! And I don't have any professional equipment to use, basic scissors and a comb, but that's it. If anyone has any advice on what I should do please tell mw

Don't be terrified. Even if you mess her hair up they are going to grow back. If your scissors are sharp enough you can start by chopping off small amounts of hair. Yes they bark and bite. But you can train them not to.

I am a first time owner too. This breed needs a lot of attention and regular grooming. You can't leave the dog alone in the house.

Acana Puppy & Junior Dog food. Soak the food in water before feeding. It's easier for a puppy to eat and digest soaked food instead of dry food.

And kindly let me know..how difficult is the grooming process if we want to do it at home...help me in deciding..whether to adopt one or not

Grooming is not difficult. It is time consuming. For this breed you need to do the hair combing along with nail clipping and ear cleaning on a regular basis. Bathing should be done 2-3 times in a month. In summers you need to cut their hair so that their bodies can stay cool. You also have to clean their paws every time you come back home after a walk outside. If you want a low maintenance dog then I would suggest you go for another breed which is not so furry.

In general, all dogs need company all the time. They are social animals. You’ll notice that dogs will always follow their owners everywhere in the house and they like to be in the same room with their humans. So, its not a good idea to leave a dog alone in the house for 5-6 hours. They can develop behavioral issues. They can become depressed. Getting a dog is a commitment just like having a human baby. Would you leave your baby alone in the house for 5-6 hours if you had to go out? You can hire a dog sitter or a care-taker for your dog when you have to go out so that the dog has company and is not alone. Or you can take your dog with you if that’s possible. I only go to dog-friendly restaurants so that I can take him along. Also, if you want a pet that you can leave alone in the house for hours, you can consider getting a cat.

Lhasa Apso's are guard dogs by nature hence aggressive. So you will have to train them or else they could bite strangers in order to protect you. They are good companions. Don't get a dog if you are planning to leave the dog alone at home during the day while you go out for work. They demand attention and you need to take care of their grooming on a regular basis. Lhasa Apsos are also fussy eaters.

Great!! finally found someone whose dog is also Lhasapoo and looks like snow. I always believed pedigree Lhasa apso has a much smaller muzzle, close to a shitzu probably.

@@dr.tejashri Obedience training at the age of 4 months will help reduce his barking. If the training is done right the dog will never bite anyone. Socializing the dog with humans and other dogs should begin from a young age. Take him out for walks everyday so he meets new dogs and people. When he meets new people tell them to feed him a treat. This way he can strike a friendly bond with your family members and colleagues.

@@Mak5797 Lhasa Apsos are natural guard dogs. I will recommend you to hire a professional trainer when you puppy is 4 months old. When you get a puppy, take him to a good vet and get all check up done. The temperature can be a problem for the dog during summers if you don't have an AC in the house. You'll have to spray water on the coat regularly to keep him cool.

Why not buy yourself a pair of clippers with guards? I have a Lhasa too, he’s 15. I’ve been grooming him at home practically forever. You did a great job and hair grows back but clippers are much easier and quicker.

Iam also having same dog but dont like that i will grom of his hair

My Lhasa is naughty he doesn’t even sit like this. I don’t know how I’m gonna cut his hair.

he was lot cuter before tge trim..after trim he became pomeranian..and the cut looks uneven too.surely he looks a different dog,a different breed infact.

Agar main gharpe 12 se 5 pm tak na rahu....aur meri mom and our maid rahe to may kya dog le sakti hu......matlab meri gharpe mere ilawa meri mom aur hamare maid rehte hay....may 5 pm tak school may rehti hu...to dog ko kuch ho ga kya ...apne tk bola dog ki ghrarme akele nehi chor sakte ....to aisa to kar sakti hu na......dog ka owner ko kya gharpe rehna hoga??????

Give treats while grooming. Start slowly. One step at a time. After a few weeks they will get used to it.

Lhasa apso beauty is with their fluffy hair. Shouldn't cut it. They look really adorable with long hair ,putting cute ribbon and clips on head part. They lost their cuteness after chopping their hair

It gets really hot here in summers. If I don't trim his hair he can get a heat stroke. The fluffy long hair is suitable in countries with cold temperatures, not here.
