Hi, I have one of the “competitors” version of this tool and they are remarkably similar. Over the 14 months I have used my saw heavily and found it to be quite capable, I’m not disappointed. The Grizzly owners manual has better illustrations and it’s instructions are more descriptive. Two simple things I have learned using this saw: positioning the work light on the back side farther away from the cut area works great and using a 1/2” blade is very doable but the adjustments are more critical because it’s at its limits. On my saw the top and bottom wheels are coplanar but not parallel too (I don’t like that) but I’ve not figured out how to correct it. This became obvious when I installed the 1/2” blade. All that said this saw performs very well.

Thank you for watching and your insight. Ive noticed this with several tools among different brands, they have same form factor with some differing parts, for example jointers and planers and drill presses. I chose the grizzly overall because I noticed a few more parts on the grizzly were metal. Although, for light duty use in non-critical applications, a bit more plastic probably wont be that noticeable. The is also operater/user specific to some degree. The grizzly manual recommends washers on the hub for the wheels to get them to parallel depth, on the back side to push them out and ride on top of the washers. Place a straightedge, then measure the depth from the straight edge to the edge of the wheel, and make up the difference with washers.

I used to have the Wen 10” bandsaw. This looks identical. Probably the same factory that pushes out tools to different companies only changing the paint color. The big difference I saw is there was not two different scales for the fence measurements on the Wen. One issue I had, when I was sawing green bowl blanks is that wet sawdust would cake the gear for raising/lowering the blade guard and make it impossible to change heights until I took it apart and cleaned it out. But overall it was an adequate little machine. I did enjoy the 6” depth of cut, especially for bowl blanks for my mini lathe. Now I am upgrading my bandsaw and lathe. I hope you get a lot of good use out of it. Thanks for the review.

This saw is on sale and I just purchased it about an hour ago so thank you for the video. I did extensive research and it came down to the Rekon and the Grizzly 10” and not only price but everything pointed to the Grizzly so that is what I decided to go with

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. My G0948 should arrive tomorrow. With the sale and free shipping I saved about $180. I’m a DIYer, do you find the 10" sufficient? I know 14" are a lot more $. I just hope I didn't sell myself short.

It's not bad for the price it does have some limitations but once you learn what blades for what work and how to work with any given piece with the machine I think it's a fair product. There is a bit of a learning curve with the adjustments and operation but with any diligent user I think it's decent.

The fence is pretty good, haven’t noticed it giving me trouble. It is aluminum and only attaches at one point. If you think it will be to light duty, spend a bit more and get exactly what you want with capability for heavy duty use in the future.

Thanks for watching. I think it is a good purchase for the price. I hit its limits pretty quick, the stock blade is really only for rough cuts where precision isnt primary. Otherwise, get some better blades, at least a few suited for each task. It works pretty well when I am not the source of the errors (feeding too fast etc).

My guess is your bearings are too tight against the blade or at least one of them is too tight against it. I had a clicking sound when one of my lower bearings was not adjusted correctly initially. It’s a bit tedious to get the bearings right but once dialed in it works well. Remember touching but with light pressure or a just a bit more than light pressure is what I could get mine to. The manual has pretty ok specifics. I feel mine is actually pretty quiet the video audio makes it sound worse than it is. By the way I’m the same guy who made this video just too lazy to sign in to my other account to answer your question.

Hi Ben, I have tried resawing hardwood shorter than that and realized the stock blade is not up To par. I ordered new blades but haven’t tried them yet. Certainly 5 in hardwood will not work without a better resaw blade. It has decent power and I like it and am Happy with my purchase but I would suggest getting a higher HP motor for more resaw work than little shop stuff.

I've had this saw for over a year, and I absolutely hate it. I have spent more time trying to get a blade to stay on than I have actually cutting. Once you think it's working properly, pop, the blade comes off. It doesn't matter which width of blade nor does the brand matter. The wheels are lined up properly. I'm seriously thinking about selling it for $100 and buying a better brand in the future.
