Im in Beaumont Texas and earlier today the hurricane/storm blew past.. only lost power for a couple hours.. not bad... back at work after lunch 😡😡... most used item during power outage.... DeWalt 20v radio and cell phone charger... cordless tool batteries and accessories are important to me during power outages...all sorts of cool accessories

Stay safe out there!

At least 66% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. So, they can’t afford to miss time off from their jobs and they don’t have extra money for gas, motels, restaurants, etc. if they leave to go out of town. So they hope and pray for the best. And then there’s the population who don’t even have cars or have older cars that aren’t road worthy for a long trip out of town, these people will be stuck like thousands were in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit 🤷🏽‍♂️

Don’t know if you’re speaking in general situations, or about hurricane Beryl specifically. If it’s the latter, it’s landing as a Category 1. Limited interruption of utilities and services is about all to be expected in that case.

Not to mention if everyone left with plenty of warning, would also leave thousands of homes undefended and at the mercy of looters. Possibly entire neighborhoods.

Poland here on replay crew. Prepare to read something long. I still remember, when there was a truck, that got stuck in a snowpile on a road and effectively blocked a road of decent importance. It happened right outside of Warsaw and even then it took 1 and a half day to restore traffic on that road. For those 1 and a half days people would start running out of fuel and call the police, because "they deserve help". You MUSTN'T find yourself at the spot, where you'll be forced into a position of overwhelming majority of other co-road users. Now speaking of Poland-Belarus debacle, it is SO MUCH more complicated. There are now incidents, where German police threw us some of their migrants ("engineers") on our side of the border, which means, that Germany doesn't really want to care about their own migrants, so they might not be really happy to help us out. Due to one very unfortunate event described below people started organising militias patrolling forests on search for any illegal crossing attempts. For obvious reasons they don't carry any firearms or other weapons, just their physical prowess and for now they simply report crossings to the authorities, but if the situation gets worse, then who knows, what measures will either authorities (except already estabilished exclusion zone) or militias make. In the beginning of June it came out, that one solider was stabbed and sadly died on 11th June, just before Europarlament elections (it was attempted to be covered up because of that, but it leaked). After this sad news it turned out, that some other soldiers were prosecuted for firing warning shots in attempt to stop illegal crossings, which is just absurd. OUR servicemen either receive empty mags or mags would be taped to simply have a scarecrow instead of functioning rifle. THIS was the most likely reason why our soldier couldn't repel this attack. This was in my opinion a result of politics of a new center-left government (here known as "happy Poland") gaining power in 2023 and trying to do everything opposite to our previous generally-right government, that although did mistakes and tried to consolidate power, they at least didn't try to lick the boots of everyone around and knew, that sometimes you NEED to hurt someone to save others. Soldiers need appropiate tools to properly defend their and our security. All this lead to current party getting a severe hit on Europarlament elections and almost getting less seats than previous leading party. Even more surprising was the fact, that commonly acknowledged as far-right "Confederation" party got the best voting score in their entire existence, that is 11%.

As a prepper I try to do every year a week without grid power to make sure i can make it. This year I actually have gone three or four months on just my solar. winter will be my next challenge.

It’s easier to help the unprepared during a localized even like a natural disaster. It’s a totally different thing because it’s localized and there is a light of normalcy beyond it.. In a country wide SHTF scenario things will look totally different. Say the power grid goes down across the entire country. There won’t be aid coming from the unaffected parts of the country and there will be no clear sign when a glimpse of normalcy will come back. The more unprepared people you help in a nationwide event the faster you will go through your stockpiles.. That’s just logic and common sense.. If you are planning on helping unprepared people you better either be filthy rich and having massive stockpiles or preparing your family and yourself to help others until it’s all gone and you have nothing yourself.. I live in tornado country and have dealt with numerous localized events like natural disasters. A nationwide event is a totally different animal.. People better wake the hell up to that realization..

So hey i just came down from buckshot hill just a little mountain i have up here in Michigan's UP. I usually come down from the mountain about once a month or if I'm not getting a signal on this here ole phone. Trapping has been good last fall and hunting was ok good enough to fill the smoke house. Did get me a bear last fall and preparing the fur for a blanket keep me warm on them there cold winter nights. Well going berry picking this afternoon and thinking of putting up some jam for next winter. Well anyways just wanted to stop in and say howdy to you all and let you all know that everytime i come down off the mountain all i hear is how bad this here united states is in and you all have a diaper wearing joke running this here united states of America. Well good luck to you all and if ya ever get up this way just stay off my mountain i don't need you all bringing that there city crap up my way. Don't think that most of ya all would last a day here anyways because the critters would probably eat ya. Well any how ya all have fun living in the mess you all made and maybe I'll come on here next month and see if any of ya all are still having fun.
