Grilled Whole Beef Tenderloin Recipe | How To Trim and Grill a Beef Tenderloin

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Grilled Whole Beef Tenderloin Recipe
WHAT MALCOM USED IN THIS RECIPE:
- Weber Kettle Grill - weberinc.sjv.io/QyjyWa
- BBQ Gloves - bit.ly/H2Q_BBQGloves
The first thing you'll need to do is trim the beef tenderloin -- unless you buy your beef tenderloin already trimmed from your butcher.
Next you will marinade your beef tenderloin, for my recipe I a bottle of Moore's Original Hickory Marinade to soak the tenderloin for about 2 hours in the refrigerator. You can find Moore's at your local grocery store on the sauce isle or you can make your own with:
- 1 cup Worcestershire
- 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
After your marinade your beef tenderloin, it's time to season it. I used Butcher BBQ's Steak and Brisket seasoning.
Let the tenderloin sit out at room temperature after seasoning just long enough to fire up the grill. For the cooking process you'll need a 2 zone fire. I set up my Weber kettle with a chimney of hot coals on one side and a drip pan on the other. As soon as the grill is hot, it's time to cook.
Place the tenderloin over the hot coals and set a timer for 2 minutes. Turn the loin and repeat every two minutes until its' seared on 4 sides. (Total of 8 min.)
Move the tenderloin to the cool zone. At this point check the internal temperature to see where it is. It was sitting right at 100 degrees, so it needs 10-15 more minutes before it's done. You want to place the lid on the grill to control the heat and set a timer for 10 minutes.
Beef Tenderloin is best served medium rare - 130 degrees. It should have a warm red center and firm feel on the outside. You can cook it longer but it takes away the beef flavor.
Once your beef tenderloin is cooked, let the tenderloin rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
Now all that's left to do is enjoy!

Thanks for making this video, Malcom! I followed your recipe exactly, even down to the Weber kettle grill and my tenderloin came out perfect! Buying the whole tenderloin at Sam's and trimming it myself saved a BUNCH of money! My daughter and her husband even asked if I could come over and grill one for a dinner party they're having for some business friends.

Another awesome video! Thanks for all the tips as I am going to have to try this one. I did have one question, do you ever purchase and freeze meet for cooking later or always purchase fresh? The reason I ask is that I have a smaller family and there are times where cooking or smoking a large size portion is not always possible. Any feedback would be appreciated. Happy Holidays.

Hi i really enjoyed your knife and trimming skills. However i do believe in a 'competition' you should not use a store bought marinade. All a great marinade is a salty constituent of spices and water. All and I'm talking ALL you need to do is copy the salt content of that marinade and then customise those spices, a little vinegar doesnt hurt either.

Hi man! Thanks for a great video! I have s question that's probably a bit difficult to answer but I try anyway. I live in Norway and the marinade and the seasoning you use are not available here. Do you have any other suggestions from international brands? You could maybe list up a few alternatives and I'll see what I can find? Are there some ingredients that are mandatory to make a marinade great?

Bill B. Just make sure your knife is sharp. If is sharp, it cuts through with little effort. It's when you're sawing and struggling to use the knife that you cut yourself.

Yeah, that would be good. Smoked beef tenderloin is great smoked. I might sear it quickly, but that's not necessary. Then I would smoke it around 250 until it hits an internal of 125. Only rub it with salt, pepper garlic too.
