In my country, people live with their parents even after having their own family. It's our culture. About it being "not a hallmark of success", well, that depends on who you're talking to and how they were brought up.
maybe he is smart enough to know what is important

i bet he is just a beyond smart guy who is just lonely and has to live in his own universe and doesnt give a sht about anything else.
Slav's are close with their families. Living with parents is not a strange thing for them. Parents support you, you support them.

Why does living with your parents after turning 18 have such a negative connotation to it? I understand being older and not having a job makes it look like you're mooching off of your parents, but even people who have a steady income and are actually supporting their parents are looked at badly when they say they still live with their family...

Ga Eul Ryu It's not a negative connotation in my country. Most people live with their parents until they get married. Haha! I think it has something to do with different cultures. In Asia, it's acceptable. Guessing from your name, you would agree with me on that?

If your not a freaking genius who's going out winning a million dollars. Then you don't have a right to live with your parents. Sounds to me like someone needs a job.

Maybe he declined the money because he thought some one else might need it more. i.e. for research.
From what I read Perelman went to live with his mom because she got sick
He NEVER said "I know how to control the universe" :/ AND he rejected the medal and the money BECAUSE of politics in the mathematical community. Also he worked on the problem of Poincare Conjecture for about 7 years...it was not his "side job". There is so much wrong information in this video :/

Nothing Link said about the x, y axis was wrong. What's up with Rhett? -x, +y I +x, +y (positive x, y plane) _____________ -x, -y I +x, -y

420 Gal It is the positive X and positive Y quadrant, also called the 1st quadrant. It is the area on the 2 dimensional XY plane which contains positive real numbers. The wording was a bit off, easy enough for people to understand but it, I guess, was not technically correct.

Eyebrows on fleek
The show was not recorded and not even the set list has been preserved. These shows will be in celebration of the band's 50th anniversary, and the run has been dubbed as the 'Fare Thee Well' shows from a line in the final verse of 'Brokedown Palace' - "Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell." They promoted a sense of community among their fans, who became known as Deadheads, many of whom followed their tours for months or years on end. July 3-5, 2015 the Grateful Dead will perform a series of three reunion concerts at Soldier Field in celebration of the band's 50th anniversary.

NukeML If you're serious, then a wedgie is a process, where one person grabs another ones underpants above the buttocks, without the victim knowing, and then promptly pulling said underpants at great velocity in an upwards moving motion. It hurts.. or rips your underwear.

Fernando Reyes Still no cigar
In short, he proved that a sphere and a torus (donut) are the same manifold (topologically). He used some crazy method involving what are known as geometric flows. This technique involves diffusing curvature in a space like you would diffuse heat. The man he claims contributed as much to the puzzle was Richard Hamilton, who I believe invented the geometric flow (I could be wrong). Perelman utilized a modified geometric flow (called "Ricci Flow w/ Surgery") to solve the problem. Math people are my hero :) Whether they like it or not.
@Patsoawsm
8 жыл бұрын
+eugeniomyles That is absolutely not what he proved. A second year math major can prove that a torus is not topologically equivalent to a sphere. What he proved is, in short, that if a geometric object does not have any "holes" in any dimension, then it can be deformed into a sphere. A torus, however, has one (quite obvious) 2-dimensional hole.
"His IQ is unknown..." "His eyebrows are well known" I died.
As a mathematician, I loved this episode, especially Rhett saying "Poincare." In other news, 4 out of 5 experts agree, you should have me on Song Biscuits for a song called "Why Are There No 'B' Batteries?"
Honestly, for anyone out there who doesn't know video editing, or audio editing or maybe even photo editing... In my best opinion put in word form, I truly believe that finding the popular video editor, audio editor, or photo editor that fits you the best in editing, whether it may be easy or difficult, all you really do, is tweak with settings. Do this for a week straight of just editing, you can just take a video of yourself, a sound recording of yourself, or just a picture of yourself and by tweaking with the settings you can slowly see your skills advancing. By the end of the week, you can say you're a basic video editor, audio editor or picture editor, maybe all of them. Do this by the end of the month, and you're probably now a professional. I think learning from trainers just makes it as hard as math at school. And by tweaking it all by yourself, you can have fun too, making really funny videos, pictures or voices.

I recommend "Camtasia Studio". But, don't use it because it runs off a trial. For audio editing "Audacity" For picture editing with Transparency, use either remove a color in video editing software, and drag the pic in, or go to this website and select "Transparency" www.online-image-editor.com/

Yes you can learn this by yourself but the way they teach you in Lynda is not the same as in school at all, you will learn at your own pace and learn the things you're interested in. It will teach you tips and tricks that you might've never learned on your own. It's a free trial you don't have very much to lose.

I definitely have a lot of respect for that guy, he does things I couldn't even dream of doing. I suck at math. PS-Link I have you beat. I've been living with my mom for 19 1/2 years and and still living here with her. lol
I love the video quality.... #KZreadGoals
This guy seems like the only genuine genius on the list.
5:45 , I laughed so hard, and I do not know why!!!
Awesome show. Could you guys do a music symbol challenge?
0:21 That was the goodest special effect though... Rhett studied Grammar
Love this show! It's my fave and i'll watch it everyday for.. forever :p But.. I must say.. Rhett, you seem to be in an awesome mood in this episode.. *sarcasm* :)

The Putin of math, I love that)
if your eyebrows determined your intelligence imagine how smart peter capaldi would be
This guy is like Nikola Tesla, never wanting money or fame but yet the impact he had on the world today almost cannot be measured. But that is just one example. If you go down through history you will notice that many geniuses were introvert, ocd'ish, not caring for the riches of the world. Best to leave them alone and just provide support in their field.
Grigori Perelman
7:00 He is like the masked man with that cape, like batman of math
what i got from this show: Hoooo
❤️
my brain would explode if I had all that smart stuff in it
he mathematically proved that you can make from sphere in to donat shape ...imagine that
He is living with his parents because they are the only people he wants to be around.
If he didn't want the million, he could have taken it and given it to charity. Or maybe suggested they find better uses for it than unappreciative mathematicians.

Vexed Films I think it did go to another cause afterwards, but calling him unappreciative is just wrong, he doesn't want the fame. Kurt Cobain didn't want the fame and it drove him mad yet no-one calls him unappreciative, Isaac Newton couldn't cope with people he didn't know due to mental illness so thus never got his work published so surely he is also unappreciative of his knowledge?

But would you want world wide attention for something you do at home as a hobby?

Vexed Films he did not exept the money because he would have to go on stage infront of quite a few people to exept it. it was not the money he didnt want, its was stage fright.

martinshoosterman I can't confirm this. What he has said is that he feels mathematics is corrupt in some way. He was also pretty upset that the committee didn't share the prize with Richard Hamilton whose Ricci flow method he used to solve the conjecture.

pooeyyeoop1 Kurt Cobain wanted fame so much. He just didn't like it when he got it
As soon as lynda is mentioned, I skip about 1-2 minutes of the video until they stop
From what I've heard and read in other sources it was not a side thing, he actually dedicated years of his life to this mathematical proof.
stayed up untill 3 am to see this
If you didn't pick up that their computers were macs long before today, Link showed it by turning his screen around.
Love you guys. XD
wheel ending: link is the power pizza and rhett eats him
DONKESHEHN cracked me up
Welcome to the under 301 club how tuff are yah
sounds like the plot for Hancock 2...
Rhett and Link should do the Myers Briggs Personality Test.
Huh, he actually looks like a danish entertainer called Mikkel Lomborg (Known as Hr Skæg) who's a host on a kids educational TV show. The show is literally about math and numbers (and there's also a words/letter version, but I believe the math version came first). I wonder if they got inspiration from this guy.
we get what lynda is haha every day u explain it
i also have the M air
MrRepzion I believe they use the snowball something I think
Great display of ethnocentrism there Rhett
