I lived in Sunderland for years and no way is it or could it be described as a seaside town. It's on the coast and that is as far as it goes.

I love the presentor and the animation and illustrations in the the introduction and throughout....well done.... hat's off to the British.... I won't even watch it if it has an American accent...it lacks heart and drama....

So his father and mother bring 7 children into this world and then decide they don’t want to care about them, but let’s keep saying how childless people are selfish 😠 these two are not the exception. Most people shouldn’t have children.

Why has 2 people already described Sunderland as NOT a seaside town? If "seaside town" conjurs up a quaint, out-of-the-way shire that is overgrown with wildflowers and sundresses then you obviously have the wrong definition to begin with. Sunderland is a seaside town.

It's an ex- industrial town with the usual type of housing and is on the coast. High unemployment from the loss of industry especially in the 90s.

The weather is the major factor. Add the cold, North Sea....try swimming in that. A bunch of Islands floating... removed from the rest of the world. Nearly always gloomy, rainy, cold. A miserable place to live. Avoid it, like a damp, smelly blanket.

If you look at the percentage of serial killers that have had really bad upbringings it is really clear that is a factor. It might be something inherited in terms of them being abused by family because of defects in the family, it might be because of substance abuse by the parents passing on to the fetus. Indeed fetal alcohol syndrome certainly causes problems. But it is very rare for someone with a normal upbringing to turn out that bad.
