Grey Wing's Death - Script
Black Ear: What's our Clan called?
Grey Wing: We are WindClan.
Silver Stripe: Then Thunder's group must be ThunderClan!
White Tail: And Tall Shadow's group can be called ShadowClan!
Black Ear: River Ripple's group must be RiverClan!
White Tail: What should Clear Sky's group be called?
Grey Wing: SkyClan.
Clear Sky: SkyClan...Trust you to name my Clan for something beyond my reach.
Grey Wing: The sky is all around you. You walk through it everyday, it's just that you don't realize it pause Did you really save my kit?
Thunder: He risked his life to grab him from the paws of a monster.
Grey Wing: Thank you, Clear Sky.
Bright Stream appears beside Clear Sky, the kits she carried when she died standing at her paws
Grey Wing: Bright Stream!
Bright Stream: They are the kits I was carrying when I died.
Grey Wing: Did you hear that?
Clear sky looks confused
Grey Wing: Bright Stream! She's beside you. With your kits.
Clear Sky: My kits? Can you see them now?
Grey Wing: Yes! She was carrying them when she died. They're...beautiful.
Bright Stream: They will be with me, always.
Turtle Tail: I wish you could stay with them, Grey Wing. But it's their destiny to know you only as a memory.
Grey stares sadly at Turtle Tail
Slate: Grey Wing? What are you looking at?
Grey Wing: They've come for me. They're not dead, they're just waiting for me to go with them.*pause* Never forget how much I love you, Slate.
Grey Wing: Silver Stripe, be brave and take care of your mother. White Tail, learn all that you can, so that one day, you will make your Clan proud. Black Ear, forgive any harm that you have been done and show kindness to your Clan mates. For we are all fighting a hard battle, and sometimes kindness is all we need.
Black Ear: You sound like your saying good-bye.
Grey Wing: I am.
Black Ear: No!
White Tail: Don't go!
Grey Wing: I will always be watching over you.
Grey Wing: I have traveled so far and loved so much, and yet I am still following the sun trail...
Grey Wing finally felt the invisible jaws let go, and his breathing eased. He stood up, looking back at Slate and his kits, clinging onto the body he no longer needed.
...heading for my new hunting grounds.
