Poor baby. Shes itching so much. Something could be going on internally in that area or even a mild allergic reaction. Either way, she wanted to scratch it but he wanted to hug. Lolol.

Something else is going on. Very interesting what is captured here as I have not found accessible literature about it. It looks very much part of the courting/mating process. The look from the male at 1min 13 says please go-a-way! At the beginning she pretends to scratch her lower limb. Amazing! Thank you for sharing.

Probably, even in house hold aquariums you can get parasites that cause fish to scratch.

I know that all seals molt, where they shed most of their pelagic and grow in a completely new one, and the process is extremely itchy
