People want to knock them for a "Led Zeppelin wannabe" band are ignoring the fact that these KIDS have achieved a perfect, truly authentic 70s sound in the age of boring, rubber stamped garbage. Imagine how much better they'll get with age.

They’re NOT trying to Copy Zeppelin. I don’t think that they should take it as a criticism, gosh if you can sound like Josh does without trying, more power to you. Great musicians, great sound.

Tapping in as 61 year old black woman. I love them. I’m fascinated with all of their talents, but I love love love watching Jake insanely and nicely play his guitars. That kid is so talented. Sam is killer on the Bass guitar and keyboard. Josh’s ability to scream cohesively with just their sounds without words, and Danny’s drum style is amazing. They bring it together and they respect each other. If Josh gets tired, Jake just does his guitar solos and let’s Josh just vibe with the audience. When he’s rested his voice a bit, they start it all over again. They are fantastically talented. I started listening to them a few months ago. I’m a fan. I can’t compare them to anyone. Because although I love all good music, no other band has ever moved me like them. Shinedown had a half dozen songs that I fell in love with, but I repeat Greta Van Fleets songs all the time. 😊😎☺️.

Mikey - doesn't matter if you are black, white, yellow or purple with pink spots - if you like it, then you like it. They certainly do have a great retro sound which is most welcome. Anything to blast away the constant sound of Ed Sheeran (not that I dislike him but he is everywhere).

As someone born in 61...I love, love love long sings. One of the reasons I love TOOL, and yes is great at it. I really like when a band just jams. Once I saw Los Lonely Boys open for Willie Nelson. During one song, Los Lonely boys joined Willie during his set. It turned into a long guitar jam/battle between Nelson and his sons and Los Lonely boys. It was epic and amazing and I'll never forget it. Pink Floyd was good at it, weren't they? I have only seen Roger Waters, but that was pretty great.

Very few have one iota of the talent this takes. Plant was a genius of his time but he can no longer perform like this. For someone young, fresh, full of energy, and years to grow to come along and resurrect the torch of real music, carry it forward to the future is a dam miracle. A voice like this is not a copy, it’s a fricken gift to be used. Long Live Rock!!!!

Even Zep itself pulled itself away from the Small Faces, Jeff Beck Group sound of their debut with II. Mark I Deep Purple was Neo classical ala Vanilla Fudge before they changed direction with 1970's In Rock. They need a good producer who can catch them with their writing get a little too on the nose. Rival Son have managed to do this, I hope GVF will too.

This is what a real hard rock band does: It jams, makes mistakes, which is no problem, laughs at everything, especially ignorant critics, works yet plays, lives on stage for the thrill of it, not trying to impress anyone, just being themselves, surprises themselves and everyone else, too. It's a fat, juicy slice of real life with all the emotion, tragicomedy, and energy. And they're having the time of their lives, inviting us to join them in their worshipful awe of mysterious, undependable existence. Rock on, bros and sisters. They're often great, but always human, and it's amazing, if you understand what and who they are: fallible human beings having a good time using some loud instruments and one loud voice cheerfully shouting at the universe. They may be around forever, or they may spin out of this orbit they've found and go on to god knows what: better times, hard luck, but for now they're rocking our lame asses. They make it look so easy. I guess it takes a million of us losers in order for the universal DNA casino to come up a winner like Greta Van Fleet. And, sadly, many people will never get it. It's just not in their stars.

Well, I doubt they would let them perform this version of LLTB for half an hour LOL , but this song is PERFECT for the Grammys; It showcases the talent of each member of the band and the ending can really get the audience on their feet. I think they will definitely perform though. People have been complaining how music awards shows have been lacking in performances for the past several years (including , obviously rock bands with guitar solos). The Coachella version is like 8 minutes, maybe something like that could be possible. Although, it’s also possible they will just perform what they are nominated for.

@@richsackett3423 First, I'm the world's biggest Zep fan, aside from my buddy Galen. We're both in our 50's, so we know good music when we here it. GVF are definitely Zeppelin disciples, that's obvious: Josh heavily imitates Plant in voice/screams/gestures- Jake has a mixture of his own unique style and that of Page, and he does Jimmy's foot shuffle perfectly- Even Wagner has adopted John Bonham's drumming style, power and nuances. (I'm a drummer and I'm pretty sure his snare is tuned right there with most of Bonham's snare sound). They do "copy" allot from Zep, but they're not trying to be a tribute band. They're using the Zeppelin style to carry some pretty damn well written songs, in my opinion. But what I get from these kids (heard everything they've done for several years now), is that they're paying homage to led Zeppelin without actually "copycatting" them. In fact it's pretty damn ironic to accuse GVF of copycating someone, when a hell of a lot of Zeppelin's music was straight-up ripped off from blues singers like Willy Dixon and Muddy Waters. Many of their songs were copied word for word, or phrase for phrase, and even the classic "Stairway..." music/chords/progressions (not lyrics) were almost exact matches to the song Taurus from the band Spirit. Many of them sued Zep for royalties and most were fought by Jimmy's lawyers and settled out of court. Every band that's ever formed stood on someone's shoulders and adopted qualities and styles of former bands. What better band to emulate than the mighty Zeppelin?

  • @richsackett3423

@@triggerhappydad65 The Beatles. Of the old-timey rock bands, they wrote the best songs (although favoring The Pink Floyd personally). It’s all down to the songs anyway, not the most successful leveraging of nostalgia. Emulating The Beatles worked out for Oasis better than GVF/Zep, as far as that goes. Being older is no guarantee of liking good music, just preferring music that was popular when your balls still worked.
