The guitarist realizes his guitar is out of tune, keeps playing until the vocal comes in and the quickly tunes his guitar only to return perfectly at the pre-chorus. You can see the bass player stepping closer to ask "what's up" during this also. These guys are pros.

Agreed, definitely! You should see another video of them doing this song at Coachella 2018 in Texas. Jake's guitar went out just as he was blazing into the solo - instead of stopping or walking off stage they were all smiles, Josh continued working the crowd & Danny kept the rhythm going while Sam stepped forward with some improvised shredding on the bass. A technician changed guitars for Jake and connected him, whereupon he picked up right where he left off and the band finished the song like true champions. It only took them 40-45 seconds to work through it, but I could see that we have an uncommon band of professionals here!

I think there are only a few moments where Josh sounds like Percy. I listen a lot to Led Zeppelin and get every notification from Greta Van Fleet's channel. In this song Highway Tune Josh Kiszka opens up with a yell, which is to me the most similar to Robert Plant's vocals. Unfortunately many fans of rock music have critisized (rather abused) GVF for an all over copying of LZ's music. I fear due to this, Josh K. began to avoid sounding similar to Robert P. ( Perhaps only unconciously). In any case: It's a pitty that so many people followed the impulse of wanting to destroy everything which might get equal quality concerning the characteristics of their idols. I like bands, who play music they want to hear and celebrate what they love to listen themselves.

@@GioGio-fq1vl I actually don' t know, if Josh Kizka ever seized to sound like Robert. He simply did at the start. His vocals sounded effortlessly full, mighty and natural. There is a characteristic of his vocals I'm not so fond of. He too often falls into pressing out his voice ( for my taste). And I have the impression this rather increased after he was called a (bad) copy of Robert Plant. But this is because of my personal taste, and my whole assumption about the effect of the reviling coparisons with R. Plant on Josh Kizka's singing may be as well total bullshit. I think all members have developed greatly. I ever felt Jake Kizka's play to be the most attractive. But guitarplay (and vocals) is (are) always the thing(s) to be reckoned most easily. ;)

But to focus all your efforts on ripping off someone else's identity and tone and pass it off as your own? That takes relentless study. I believe what you're trying to say is it's hard to come up with an original sound that PEOPLE LIKE. Now that is a different matter entirely. But coming up with your own sound? That's nothing. All you have to do is play and your personality will shine through naturally. That's not hard.

So nice to hear pure rock out of young musicians. Who cares who they are influenced by? The musicians they are influenced by were influenced by someone else! Its GREAT!!! And the crowd!!! And to think some old rockers are decrying "Rock is dead!" Greta Van Fleet replys: "Oh yeah? Watch this!"

These young men are simply incredible. You hear the guitar is out of tune. Jake waits until the vocals come in. Sam carrys the rhythm on the bass, Jake tunes up, and comes in just in time for the chorus. Absolute pros at this...

As an old dude, I listened for the first time to Greata, awesome, thought I was 20 again listening to a combo of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Uriah Heep.

I agree. From what I’ve heard his sound was realized when he just howled during a jam. I don’t think he practiced to sound like plant at all. I thought it ac/dc before Robert plant cause of how high he sings. I don’t understand why they’re getting so much hate but country singers that sound like strait are “keeping real country alive”. In my opinion, the kid grew up listening to the 70s 80s Rock and blues where you’ve got sing strong to sound good, and when he sings strong, he sounds like does.

I think their stuff sounds very Zeppelin-esque and I love it for that, but there is no reasonable comparison I can draw between them and AC/DC any deeper than it's an older rock style and their lead guitarist often uses a vintage SG. To be honest I think Greta Van Fleet's style predates AC/DC's by quite a few years, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

These guys and The Rupert Selection. Two bands who remind me of the 70s, yet are original in style and kick ass. Awesome track.

I enjoyed every bit of this . The drumming, the guitars, the singer. Hell of a song!! Performed amazingly. It's now a bad day if I don't hear it once a day.

I listened to an interview of theirs and the interviewer went on to say that the pinnacle bands in the 60s/70s reinterpreted blues and soul in their own way and Greta reinterpreted the reinterpretation. They all agreed. As do I. I seriously hope this band from no-wheres Michigan is etched into the epics of forever with the likes of Zep, Queen, Hendrix, and the Who.

Great to see that bands like this still exist. Has it all. Great lead singer and very good lead guitar. Drummer is quite good too as is the bassist. No weak links in this band. Impressed.

@@simongaines7723 as someone who has worked in the music industry for 30+ years I know hype when I see it. This band is just being pushed for the novelty factor. There is a wave of 70s style bands that are doing fairly well at this point. This band is being pushed on younger listeners who may not get the depth of other bands of this ilk. There is no originality no musical depth just pure "me too" mentality. This band is an easy sell to kids who like their dads zep records and older fans who yearn for a bygone sound. It will run its course and be over soon. Why do you think they've only released eps? The label doesn't want to dump a ton of money at once and there isn't enough depth of writing to release full length albums. Great marketing at work. Face it the only reason they've gained any notice is the controversy over how much they sound like zep.

I asked a question and you answered it,both according to our viewpoint.As a Zep fan of over 40 yrs I can see the hommage/pastiche but I think these lads can really play so I'll guess we'll both have to see if they're still making music in 5 years time.My money says yes ,so we'll wait and see.

Just discovered these guys.... I've lost faith in the past few generations of musicians being able to carry the torch of the great rock-n-roll bands of the 70's and 80's. And, these guys are killing it. Lot of fun to listen to...
