Wouldn’t it help if everyone starting riding bikes or taking a bus to work? Why discredit that? We are all waiting for the government, but not willing to make small sacrifices ourselves. Doesn’t it need to be both government and individual efforts for us to have any hope of solving the crisis?

"Humanize Greta" ? What exactly was "inhuman" about her before? The fact that she spoke truth to power? The fact that she brought attention to something that threatens our very existence on the planet? Seems like pointing that out would be a very "human" thing to do....

I think It's not that he has humanized her but rather that he hasn't dehumanized her (in a sort of condescending way like some other talk-show hosts do). I am also from Sweden and i followed her mother, a famous singer, on Twitter, and she was constantly posting tweets about how flying affects the enviroment under a hashtag that translates to "stayontheground". Greta's points about being able to make change in the COVID crisis, and how we could treat the climate crisis the same are spot on. Greta, I'm so sorry I hadn't even thought of it. I'm both impressed and embarrassed. And given how poor our country (America) handled the pandemic, I don't have much faith that we can change the world. I'm sadly confident that the climate crisis would be handled the same as the COVID one. Politically divided, plagued with selfish interests, and conspiracy theorists will be our downfall. Except maybe NJ. We had been hit hard early in the pandemic, but our response was sensible and prudent. Our state government has been working towards being environmentally friendly, and have made changes in abortion law to protect our reproductive rights. I'm not sure about your stance on the last one, and it's not relevant, but it gives me hope that things can change here for the better. You're the hero we need, and the one the planet deserves.

I remember her in Davos with all the "important" people around her and a reporter asked a conundrum, that she didn't get. Then it is easy meeting those remaining demands with renewable energy.
