Grenadier On The Rack : After the Trail

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We raise the Ineos Grenadier 4x4 wagon on a rack after a hard drive on the trail. How did it match hold up? Spoiler, there was damage! Get the first look of a Grenadier raised up on the rack as we crawl underneath.

    Great vehicle and I think a good basis for an overlanding rig. Thanks to Gabe for sharing your experience with this. It's great to hear experiences from someone like you who uses the vehicle on the trails, instead of just learning from hearsay and theory. Thanks for this once again great video, Michael.

    Saw one of these in the Phoenix area a few months ago. At the time I was unfamiliar with the brand. Thanks for enlightening me. Wish you shared more information about the aftermarket support on accessories. Overall it was a great video. Thanks for sharing.

    Lift with 35s/ 37s and probably lower gears. This could be my replacement for the Jeep.

    With a 2” lift, you can get 35’s on no problem. 37’s have been done but I don’t have plans for that 😅

    @@dmitryxxx26 Not with a 2.5:1 low range and lack of disconnecting sway bars it isn't. There's definitely lots of potential and it has more refinement in areas but it'll take a large lift just to fit 35's and there's a lot of other unknowns for $80-85K. It has my attention but I find it over priced and by no means would I say it's better than a Rubicon loaded at $20K less.

    I liked the idea when they said they just wanted an updated LR110 and they wanted to keep it simple and durable. Now it needs software updates for the onboard nanny? Oh well, no one is EVER going to "build em like they used to", its just not possible.

    I don’t understand why it bothers so many people. Just don’t speed and keep under the limit, no? Or it’s because it does false speeding alarms sometime?

    @@pilotgabe Do you daily drive the Grenadier? How do you like it on road around town compared to your D3? I still drive my '05 D3 daily and am considering a Gren. Wondering if the turning circle (or lack of) will wear on me daily. I'm sure off road it's fine.

  • @pilotgabe

    @pilotgabe

    @@deanfisher1753I do daily drive it, but the comparison is apples and oranges. Because of a lack of rack and pinion, the steering experience on the Grenadier is more involved. The turning radius is not nearly as impressive as your D3, but hardly any vehicle matches the D3’s radius haha. The return-to-center is minimal. On-road the steering is not as “easy” as the Discovery 3/4 due to its beefy steering stabilizer bar, but you can replace it with a couple after market options that makes it noticeably better. The suspension being coils, it doesn’t feel as “cushy” as air suspension. I own 3 L319’s, they drive better on-road hands down. Having said that, I love the Grenadiers manners now that I am used to it. It’s comfortable, the interior has a bit more noise than the L319 but it isn’t unbearable by any means. Both my wife and I LOVE driving the Grenadier around. The Recaro seats are more comfortable than the Land Rovers we have and especially more comfortable than our D3 by a big margin. The D4/LR4’s we have are closer to the Recaro seats in comfort. Hope that helps!

    That rezzepo style joint on the driveshaft will be the first thing to go out after lifting these any height over about 2". Also that shaft look a bit thin near the rezzepo/cv joints. The jeep community feels your pain here.
