    The first time I heard "Appaloosa Bones", it felt like being wrapped in a memory. Isakov paints with lyrics, and every brushstroke captures a piece of the soul. From vast plains to the intimate window sills of our minds, he takes us on a journey. There's a line, "Was I that gone? Man, I hope not," that tugged at my heartstrings, making me reflect on moments of personal loss and rediscovery. The song is more than just music-it's an experience, a poignant reminder of life's fleeting moments and the enduring echoes of the heart. Listening to it feels like coming home.

  • @Isakovian

    @Isakovian

    Жыл бұрын

    @@williamfernandez1022 It'll be a long one, I'm warning you now... It's almost a running gag at this point that Gregory calls describes his music as "sad songs about space". I think every listener of his understands this sentiment as simply as is described. It's the three songs so far released for Apaloosa Bones, and this one in particular, which his fans can see semblance of to albums like This Empty Northern Hemisphere and even The Weatherman. For me, it's all about the lyricism, and Gregory loves to sing about loss and identity, physical distance as a metaphor for emptiness, and all the universal themes of "finding oneself" in this vast and open world. He doesn't always do this explicitly or plainly - it's usually (always) mixed in with visual imagery and metaphor. But this song is quite straightforward in this way, and it makes the appeal of it a much more solemn one. What makes this sad (again, for me) is that this sounds almost like a eulogy. The simplicity of the melody and instruments complements this tragic monologue. Go to 2:22 in this song, and this, in my opinion, is quintessential Gregory. "was i that gone, man i hope not. glad you found me when you did." If you read til the end, I love you ❤️ Let's hope this man keeps writing us his poetry.

    'your Appaloosa bones That carried me home across the plains.' Where did the concept of Appaloosa bones come from? What does it symbolize? Along with the simple melody and Greg's soul stirring voice, it feels haunting and evocative to me. Is it about heritage, connection, longing, or something even more personal or profound like an inside joke or secret love code? It's a beautiful mystery that adds a layer of complexity to an already compelling piece. I think overall, this one deserved the title track status. 🐎🐴🦴🌵

    This is so beautiful... it makes me long for yesteryears. Gregory has a way of doing that in way that not much else on this planet can for me.
