Another very informative video. This one, though, was more intense that the first one the I viewed. Again, my hats off to your personal for working safely and efficiently in order to take as much danger out as possible.

I was raised in the middle of corn country and I remember hearing bits and pieces about problems like this around the area, and never really thought much about it. I worked cleaning out bins until an auger made a run at me and I was lucky enough to jump over it. That was the end of my shoveling in grain bins. You guys did a really professional job (except I'd like to see better protection for the forklift operator). I hope you guys are still safe.

Man the dangerous shit my grandfather made us do. He had us in the grain bin using a leaf blower to push fines off of the bottom of the bin.

how do you separate the burnt corn from the good corn? Does the corn not get contaminated by the smoke?

How come you don't have a bucket on the tellahandler? ?

  • @weiniesworld8964

Mark Fuller he said that the tellahandler (sic) wasn't company equipment. So obviously he wouldn't have a bucket to switch out with him.

weinie's world when we rent we get forks with hydraulic clamps an regular forks and a bucket to be ready for anything

Mark Fuller never said he rented the fork loader, may have been the client's equipment. Maybe if faced with this type of salvage again, he would have the bucket available for use.

Clearly gross mismanagement by the elevator. Either some body wasn't checking grain moisture, or ignored it, and loaded the bin with corn that was over 13.5%

Temp cables are a good investment. Without them your gonna have to turn over bins all the time thus wasting electricity and man hours.

What about using metric tons (1000 kg) for measuring the amount of grain being salvaged from the silo...?

A bushel is about 35 liters or so. It's a volume, measure, not weight or mass. for corn, a bushel weighs roughly 56 pounds, or 25 kilograms.

a reality tv show will just make a mockery of what this guy does. They did that with Goodsons All-Terrain logging, creating fake drama.

Isn't this "bin" not called a silo? I mean, a "bin" is a small container to drop your everyday waste into: a dustbin (BrE), or garbagecan (AmE). Sorry for that, but having studied the language, beanpicking is fun! But please do not get me wrong here, I am NOT making fun of anyone, as the situation really is dramatic...shovelling off ton of grain from a huge container on fire is not easy at all...

Wet commodities typically are stores in silo's and dry commodities are store in bins.

@@hexoticace8667 although yes you are partially right, Jürgen is as well, in non-American English, this is a silo, not a bin.
