The Hammer knew Adrian Adonis (real name Keith Franke) back when Greg was wrestling in the Fargo Brothers tag team. Find out what Adonis was like behind the gimmick and what happened after he left WWF.
Here, Valentine reveals details about the car accident that killed Adrian Adonis as well as the Victor Arko (aka Mike Kelly) and fellow wrestler Dave “Wildman” McKigney. William Arko (other half of the Kelly Twins team) was injured but survived.
Prior to the crash, Adrian Adonis earned his spots on Wrestlemania II and III. His character is pivotal to the creation of Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake too.

The Hammer is the type of guy you can enjoy hours and hours listening to his wrestling stories…now at days the modern wrestlers are not even close to the wrestlers I grew up watching as kid during the 80s.

Greg was so right about Adrian still being agile and able to still perform at a high level despite gaining all that weight.
Adrian Adonis .. the first Wrestler I ever met and got a autograph of. He was such a nice guy. He was talking to everyone. Joking around. Really easy to talk to. And Greg has always been a very straight up guy. Always calm and kind around fans.
Adrian was some kind of talent. Even when his girth surpassed his height, Adonis could move around the ring like a 220 pound flyer. Just an amazing talent; another great who left us too soon.
Piper and Adonis were great friends as well. I’ll never forget my parents taking me to see wwf at Baltimore civic center, the night was being televised for the “superstars of wrestling” that would come on every weekend, it was the flower shop vs. pipers pit and they “broke” Pipers leg. I like Greg's interviews seems like a cool guy that doesn't exaggerate the hell out of things or flat out tells lies. He was a part of my childhood when there was only 3 stations on television.
Adrian Adonis is yet another guy that it is a disgrace not being in the WWE Hall Of Fame!! When I went back and re-watched some of these KZread clips of The Flower Shop....hilarious!! He owned that character.
Adrian died in Newfoundland. It was incredibly sad. I was in Newfoundland at the time, it was big news.

I met the Kelly twins once in the 80s. All these wrestlers were out of control. they lived extreme lives.
Adonis was the most agile big guy I remember seeing in the ring. Even more so than Bam Bam Bigelow.
Adonis died near Lewisport NL. I know because I live in NL. and loved wrestling at that time. NL = Newfoundland. From what I've known he died in a car that went off the highway because the driver was trying to avoid a moose. It's actually a kinda problem here. Newfoundland is a very large island with lots of pine trees and the moose tend to wander onto the highway at times. Huge animals

I don't think they ever explained what "Relax with Trudy" was all about on the briefcase. I think that there was also Canadian heel Mad Dog Lefebvre that died in the car also, he used to team up with Frenchy Martin against the Rougeau Bros in Quebec.

The briefcase contained the drag clothing that Adrian would dress up in secretly while"relaxing". This was the beginning of the transition to the Adorable Adrian gay angle. "Trudi" was supposed to be Adrian's feminine alter ego, although they dropped that part of the angle. The briefcase was revealed to contain women's undergarments that Adrian had been wearing.

It's just like what Jesse Ventura once said. 'Adrian is one of those wrestlers that doesn't look in shape, but is.'
Keith was a good man. If he liked you, then you were golden but if he did not like you, then you had to watch your back.
Man, if that guy could've kept his weight down, he could have had a really good run. Seems like he was a charismatic dude. He was really agile for a guy that size.
Crazy how guys describe being in “ring shape”. I’ve heard them say all the cardio training in the world can’t prepare you for it
I'll never forget Adrian Adonis getting beat up by Spivey. I didn't personally witness it but Spivey beat him up REALLY bad and when he returned you could see it in his eyes it messed him up mentally as well

Greg knows EVERYONE in the business.......the hammer got booked everywhere.................
I think Adonis is one of the greatest heels of all-time.
He really cleaned himself up. I could be wrong but I felt like he looked burned out years ago. He looks great.
I am in complete agreement with The Hammer, because I seen Adrian in person more than once, early in his career and with Jesse V. as tag team. Adrian played a heel the majority of the time and did a fantastic job and he took some major blows in the ring and kept on going. It was a sad ending. He was a true great.
even back then Adrian's body and character change bothered me. I was still a young teen and didn't understand the drug culture in wrestling yet. having watched him in the early days with the tough "biker" type gimmick and then watch the weight gain and change to more flamboyant version of Gorgeous George wasn'teasy to see. what a talent he was.
A guy named The Canadian Wildman who owned a wrestling bear was killed in that crash as well. I am not sure what happened to Ginger the bear but I heard the Wolfman took care of her.

At the time of the accident Adrian was doing that shot in Newfoundland for a friend. He was actually on his way back to the WWF with Dick Murdoch. Conflicting reports on whether he already signed his future WWF contract or not. He did an appearance with Dick in Japan wearing the leather and when the Japanese woman handed him his flowers as they customarily do before the match Adrian tossed the flowers into the stands. He was probably sick of looking at flowers at that point. 😁
