Of course the early 1980s was about racing in the Tar Heel State. Back then, North Carolina had three active NASCAR tracks running races. By the early 2000s, they only had one. And this is not including the four still active tracks less than two hours from the state’s border.

Very sad about Eddie Graham's and Mike Graham's suicides. Eddie Graham was the dean of wrestling in Florida.

It really was tragic. Eddie, Mike, and Mike’s son, Stephen, all took their own lives. It’s so bizarre, that three men in one family - a father, his son, and grandson, would do that.

When I was a kid, I remember the matches between his dad and Red Bastein. This was probably 1968 and I was at most of the shows in Tampa, Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Okeechobee, West Palm Beach and Miami Beach (at the old Jackie Gleason theater) in the spring and summer (because sitters cost money, especially when you're getting home at 2 AM and they didn't trust my brother LOL). My dad was coaching football in the fall and wasn't working then. I have never seen so much heat. The crowds were always one step away from a riot and their matches were always at the end of the night in a hot, sweaty, no AC arena full of smoke. I just remember men wanting to jump in the ring and women screaming and crying, and always lots of blood. It was more intense than Eddie and Malenko by far. As for Eddie Graham, my father had the upmost respect for him and delivered his eulogy. He had a very hard time dealing with Eddie's death. He always considered him to be his best friend in the wrestling business.

My foster parents took the whole family to the PTL club two years in a row. We had to stay in the state we were in at our foster aunt and uncles farm which was way cooler and we were too young anyways to be stuck in a church. Although I have never met anyone that went there as an adult
