In the US it’s a campus wake-up call. In the UK it’s an immigration wake-up call.

I can remember my grandmother saying something really antisemitic when I was in my mid-twenties. I didn't grow up around my grandmother, I pretty much only saw her once a year when I was a kid. But anyway, I was at her house, my visit was winding down and a commercial for Jewish politician running for office came on the t.v. and I don't even remember what she said, something to the effect of 'all Jews are (fill-in the blank)'. But my response was a firm and determined, emotionally even, 'Grandma, you know that's not true.' I didn't scream and yell or call her names or ban her from my presence. And you know what she said in response? 'I know'. That didn't stop her from saying the same thing next time I saw her, but I stood my ground with the same response - I won't tolerate unkind untruths in my presence. Anyway, after the second time around, whatever her thoughts she stopped expressing them to me on that subject. There's a similar scene from a Jane Austin movie where Edmund, the second son of Sir Thomas, responds to a really racist claim his father has declared in front of the whole family. Edmund says, 'Father, I cannot allow you to speak such nonsense.' And on that note, since when did people not struggling under the burden of any self-control requirements think they can impose control over what other people say and think? Another type of adage which people used to quote fairly often when I was a kid was something to the effect of 'don't worry about the speck in someone else's eye, until you remove the board in your own.'

israel have already lost the war against hamas, and the intell failure on oct 7, including taking 7hrs to respond, is so preposterously dismal, its extremely suspicious, frankly how can anyone not be suspicious?
