I hope he doesn't forget to connect with Extension staff to better understand the incredible work they do in our communities and the important role they play as front-facing ambassadors across the state. There are many places where the nutrition education, agricultural advice and outreach, and 4-H are the first connection people have to the college and those interactions then are the foundation for the university's reputation in those places. 4-H can bring kids to MSU who might have never even seen it as within reach. So I hope their work is amplified for him and that he celebrates and values their accomplishments as much as on-campus staff.

What planet are you on? UNC faculty, students, and BOD tried to get rid of him about four times and so he is taking this escape without losing face. MSU picked him because he is a very experienced "scandal fixer" and controversy navigator but far from a smooth one.

Go Green! Looking forward to the future of MSU. We here at Habatat would love more involvment in the Arts both physcial and digital. Inspiration leads to positive emotions, motivation, sense of purpose, reduced stress, increased resilience, enhanced creativity, social connection, and mind-body connection.

I hope you make it, but something like six presidents in 5 years isn't a good track record. When the first two values in the video are diversity and equity it's not promising. I had hoped to hear about getting back to excellence in education and reestablishing clarity at MSU about right and wrong. Inclusion and “valuing everyone in our community” gave us a football coach with ridiculous behavior, coverup of a doctor who destroyed young women and cost the university millions and a revolving door at the top. There are rights and wrongs in this world and Spartans must know the difference.

Turncoat! Left UNC for what! He was doing such a great job there! Oh well, guess it was always money over loyalty.

He is leaving the #4 Pubic School for #28, which ironically is tied with UNC's rival NC State, a peer institution of MSU. You might leave UNC for an Ivy or Near-Ivy post but a state agricultural school when you come steeped in UNC's hatred of all "state cow colleges"? Wow. He really wanted out and clearly UNC wanted him out as there were no matching or superior offers. He is decent, very intelligent man but MSU people need to read about his UNC baggage to see if it holds any weight for them. Agreeing to payt $2.5M to a Confederate group to take UNC's statue off their hands and hide it away should be a concern or at least a fair discussion.

How about focusing your job on EDUCATION instead of diversity and equity. Maybe thats why this country is so divided. Remind me is it 6 presidents in 5 years or 5 presidents in 6 years.? Ridiculous

Great... More DEI horse crap. Wont be sending any more money to MSU and wont be sending my children their in the future unless that shit is eliminated and the focus returns to academic excellence.

Unbelievable that this fine man would focus his opening address on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as the most important statement he needs to make. This is by far the least important issue of MSU. Look where it got us. The key points are not Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, but another, much more important DEI of Discipline, Education and Innovation. The last thing we need is to be lectured about how terrible a society we are rather than helping our youth understand the beauty of life through Discipline, Education and Innovation. To understand that through hard work you can contribute and that all life is precious and figure out ways to protect and enhance life rather than brood about how terrible we have been and are. Finally, it is also concerning that this highly sought after candidate could not have worn a true Spartan tie and also chose not to shave for this very important address. Sorry, but it is a very poor first impression and the apple of this new hope has not fell far from the tree of MSU missteps.

It's 2023 and look at the current events happening in the world. The things he mentioned are very much the root causes of so many issues in the world right now. Also whether or not he maintains a few millimeters of facial hair and whether or not his tie is a spartan tie or a green tie aren't the most important details.

“Helping our youth understand the beauty of life?” What does that even mean? His job is to lead with integrity, and recognizing that we can accomplish the greatest things only when we work together with those that may be different from us but bring their own strengths to the table, is what we need. Take that MAGA shit elsewhere.

@@MsJustDoIt1974 I am sorry that you felt these comments came from someone who does not care or understand the importance and beauty of life. Education opens our minds to this beauty and I am sorry if this hurt your feelings or caused distress. The idea that we can only accomplish great things by working with people with different views is exactly what is meant by the beauty of life. Thus, you must agree that we actually bring wonderful, beautiful views to the table and I can't wait to meet you someday to show you how much you can bring even if you feel I am a 4 letter word.
