I bought a place with some land outside Kingsport in 2018, as a retirement place for the future. I’m so glad, what I paid $100k for in 2018 is now worth $300k. It’s not as affordable as it used to be, I don’t know if I could do it today. But I love the area and love spending summers there, getting away from the Florida heat.

I know what ya mean. This place isn't as good as people wanna let on. It's only big because of the famous folks that's got their names linked to it and that's all it. Nothing else. I've lives here since 2015 and I wished I never did, but my husband is from here and he praises this crap whole 😂 we've not had anything good come out of it an the folks aren't all friendly either. They're all either to rich, or just too depressed to socialize.

I always joke about Greenville because, in the late '80s, some friends and I visited there after we graduating HS (from Nashville) and we couldn't understand some of the folks we talked to. It was like a foreign country to us in some respects. We absolutely loved the town and the people were very friendly. I don't know what it's like there today, so much may have changed. I do recall (again, in the late '80s) going for a stroll late at night and a cop stopped me and carded me. That had never happened to me in Nashville, but it had happened to me a couple times in Hendersonville and Goodlettsville.

Thank you for watching our channel and commenting. I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you visited Greeneville today. 3 big beautiful grocery stores plus an Aldi, Hobby Lobby, Marshall’s, Ross…plus new sit down restaurants and fast food restaurants. They even have a Chick fi la! I used to go to the gas station for a latte. Now there are several coffee shops to choose from including Starbucks. Still a small charming town but way more amenities.

@@LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee What is the political climate like there today. Nashville has always been quite liberal, from my recollection, and when I moved in the late 80s to a smaller city in the midwest, it was quite the culture shock! I would suspect Greenville, today, may be fairly moderate being in close proximity to Knoxville?

  • @LivinginJohnsonCityTennessee

I am not familiar with Fairfield Glade. I believe it is a few hours from Johnson City and it is a 55 plus resort/community. Although Northeast Tennessee does have many people 55 plus moving here, We don’t tend to have many designated 55+ communities in and around Johnson City. All of NE Tennessee is beautiful and Greeneville has some absolutely stunning views of the mountains. In regards to weather, I would think it would be quite similar in both areas. You also mentioned golf. Shad plays year round at several different golf courses throughout the Tri Cities.
