The Dorothy from the menu at Draper's Cafe must be a reference to Dorothy Draper. Dorothy Draper redisigned/reinvented The Greenbrier in the late 1940s.

I was there in April 2021 ❤️ I actually stayed at the hotel. Definitely didn't spend anything close to $4k. With 2 nights, a spa treatment, and my dinners it was around $1100. I loved everything. Everything there is beautiful! I will be going back for sure.

I assume that Greenbrier Real Estate refers to the Greenbrier Sporting Club. I've been to The Greenbrier many times and enjoyed it very much. The only famous person I have seen at The Greenbrier was the golfer Arnold Palmer.

I wish people could get their facts straight about the Greenbrier. This facility was built in 1913 by the C&O Rail Road. The Old White Golf Course was opened the next year. The original hotel"The Old White" was opened in 1858.

Went in November for a private event. Dorothy Draper's American Baroque design aesthetic is incomparable, and influenced suburban household design for +30years. If one get's the chance, learning about falconry and getting to have a falcon on the arm is quite cool. Also, one of the chandeliers from Gone With The Wind is in the red bar. I toured the Presidential Cottage. There was no one else inside, not even a Greenbrier historian/host. It was so moving, to walk in footsteps of our history. Also, I took the casino for $200 playing blackjack. It is the only private casino in the United States, open only to guests. P.S. Carlton Varney took over Dorothy Draper's design company and was pivotal in the renovation of the hotel and maintaining Draper's aesthetic.

Iv been here several times only to shop because I lived only four hours from it. In October 2020 my husband and our son decided to go because we wanted to experience it during the beautiful fall with all the different colored leaves. It was so nice even if it was during the pandemic 😷. The food was excellent and the room was decorated so nice it was like a suite with a beautiful place it sit to put on your makeup. The room was a nice large size too & only $500 a night. We walked for hours and the church on the grounds with all the stained glass was exquisite. A must to see and West Virginia is so beautiful in the fall.

Carlton Varney is the person who decorates the Greenbrier. He keeps the traditions of Dorothy Draper. The doorman in the red jacket is Frank. He has been there longer than you have been on this earth. You should have spoke with him. He could have gave you a great history lesson on the Greenbrier. All those famous people you showed pictures of, know who Frank is.

Monica, you think it’s tacky but millions of people including myself visit there a lot . The hotel staff treats you like royalty and the food is cuisine and the spa is excellent. I like the decor it reminds me of a old Hollywood. If you haven’t been there you should. It’s quite a experience

I think it's awesome. Nobody wants to see the same thing you see at home. It's bright yet classy. The turquoise walls are perfect. You would know the place is special. And.. it's so clean. Windows and floors are spotless.
