GREEN WATER BROWNS, April Trolling in the Shallows, Lake Ontario

Trolling in the south shore shallows of Lake Ontario in April targeting browns. This time of year, finding that perfect murky green water is often key to success. After some searching, we found a nice pocket of water not far from port and were rewarded with some beautiful spring browns. Riggers, Chinook Divers, and board rods with stick baits all took hits.

Looked like a calm morning on Lake O. That last fish didn’t fight like a brown, more like a steelhead. Great day out there, guys.

Those old bombers are precious 😁 I'm glad I didn't lose it, I already owe $5 for his side getting more bites than mine.

For your divers what size and how much line did you have to let out beyond your 12 ft leader

They are Size 2 Chinook Divers and we were letting them out about 20 ft. For us that was just at the point you couldn't see them anymore.

@@MudSharkZ ok, i only have size 3 dipsys so would probably need more line out or at 3 setting if i was to do 20 ft

@@jaredballen8205 Yeah the chinook divers dive different from the dipsys. They ones I have don't seem to dive as deep so you would have to turn yours out and adjust a bit. When doing this shallow water fishing, it seems like letting them out until you just can't see them any more works well.
