How often must the firmware be updated on the controller? Does the app tell you when a update is needed?

I had alot of trouble with this setup because I have a dual band router. I found a fix. Setup a guest network at the 2.4 gh frequency and use this network when grilling. Apparently the IP addresses jump around when on standard setup. Hopefully this helps others pulling their hair out like I was.

I enter the password exactly as shown on my grill (serial #) and it keeps saying incorrect password.

Johny Co you might want to contact GMG. My response was related to being on “wifi mode” you’re talking about the direct connection of which I didn’t have any problems connecting. My issue was when trying to get the gmg onto my home wifi network

Your made my choice to leave my traeger behind easier. I just bought the LedgeSS (DB replacement) and waiting for delivery. can't wait to break it in.

I can't get more than 8 feet away before I lose the grill wifi connection on my phone. I noticed the antenna plug is bent a little. How far away can other people get before losing connection? I've got the trek tailgate model grill

Had to get a new control board from GMG. They sent it right away, no questions asked. They're great! Note: if you get a new control board, it has a new Serial number for wifi password. There's a GMG KZread video for it

So, if I'm connected to the grill, I can't be connected to my home wifi?

Unfortunately yes. I just learned this and if I had known you can only use this app in “point-to-point mode” I would have purchased another model. I could not be more angry with my local dealer and GMG for this insanely obsolete WiFi system.

Not true. Use server mode and you can connect from anywhere and still have internet

I am not able to connect to my grill. Its telling me that internet is not available. How do I get my grill to connect to my wifi if it doesnt know the wifi password?

SD Greengo you have to point to point first. Then use the app to switch to WiFi. Then Switch your phone to WiFi.

See my post to another user with the same question. In short, you are screwed- like I am. At least with the 2021 model I just purchased, I was totally misled on the app and remote use. You must be within your grill’s WiFi distance (in other words) next to your grill to use this app

Next thing you’ll be putting a tv on it, then a twin turbo v6

My davy Crockett is having trouble connecting to the internet.

@@cryptosavy9716 "No response. Unable to confirm success." I think it loses connection sometimes and then I don't know what to. During a smoke I don't want to unplug it to reset it. But I've never had this work on the internet, which I guess is 'server mode'? I'm just connecting my phone to the grill.

I don't get 'happy grilling'. Get "no response, unable to verify success'. So no joy. When I tried to update my firmware I got a SUC message on my display. Which is funny, cause that's exactly what I think about their app!

@@GeekSmart No. Not yet. I can connect my phone to the grill, but it drops connection. Do not have server mode. Instructions are not good.

Can I change the temp away from home for example?

what if the serial number is only 5 number with no letters (edit: mine just says " S/N 68034 and then nothing else and its not scratched at all so i would be blown away if it was scratched off
