Cheuk Nam Siu , I agree, both dials are beautiful with the colour of the Seiko more vibrant. I feel Seiko cheapened the SKX by excluding the screw down crown and bezel lume pip.

So... My green Komasu finally arrived! It is a beauty!!! 😁 difference between this and the seiko is like day and night! I have the watch bug so you don't need to know how crazy I am but this watch is one of the tops at Par with my Swiss and other German and Japanese ones that I have... The size is perfect on the wrist. Quality and looks along with the amazing blackish green color is a work of art! Worth every dime! 😁

I can't decide. I think they're both nice.

Funny to me that people that review the Orient dive watches never get around to mentioning that the top of the bezel is BEVELED. This is why the Orient divers wear slimmer than the Seiko SKX type watches. If you want a "chunkier" watch then get the Seiko. If you want a "slimmer" dive watch then get the Orient. The Orient will slip under your shirt cuff easier if that is what you are looking for.

Huh, though I was subscribed to your channel and maybe it was dropped but I check the channels I like regularly anyway. Green watches seem to be trending and I myself bought a Citizen Promaster Fugu NY0099-81X, this watch looks fantastic IMO. The gold goes so well with the green and the red tipped second hand is a tasteful shade too, reminds me of the Orient and I'd pick it over the Seiko. Keep up the good work and subscribing LOL.

I got myself a Seiko srpd61, but returned it and ordered a Kamasu in green at a discounted price. Really excited!

I've just bought the orient in burgundy and it's a amazing watch. I took it off the bracelet and put it on a NATO and it really is a great watch. I think the Orient is a lot more versatile. It wears as a sporty diver but could also wear as a dressier diver. I love the way that the bezel is bevelled and wears much closer to 40mm which is just a great design feature. The crown isn't great but for the money it's about the only negative for me... also quite like the day date complication as in these pandemic times i have no idea what day it is half the time! The Seiko to me actually looks like a chunk and quite a dated design....

Is there a way to replace Kamasu’s case back with a clear one?

In my kamasu, no long after purchase, the crown came off loose when trying to set time. Is this happening often to others?

Orient is way better value. It’s cheaper and has higher specs.

Honestly, the QC on my Ray is better than my seiko 011. Better chapter ring/hand alignment. Wouldn't bother me, if I hadn't heard the same from so many people

How's the crown on the kamasu? I've heard alot of stories about the crown being extremely wobbly when pulled out all the way and Even falling off in some instances

It's not even close. Orient Kamasu. It even beats the original SKX and the turtles

On looks I prefer the seiko but not in that colour , bought one 1 month after the 5 sport came out, not keen on the Orient , although I’m sure it’s as good as the seiko , but don’t like the date frame or bezel on the Orient , and let’s not get suckered in about not a dive watch and all that clap trap , it will survive the desk or sofa diver that most the owners are ,, only my view and that’s the point watches are a personal think cheers shane uk 🇬🇧

In India Seiko 5 costs 212 Dollars, but Kamasu costs 434 dollars, while I would pick kamasu over the 5 any day, It's just not worth to pay more than double😕

They have different bracelets. Orient using solid bracelet while Seiko 5 using folded bracelet (gotta look carefully in detail)

The answer is quite obvious...these aren't with comparing. The Kamasu wins

It's hard to believe that both of these brands have the same parent company. Seiko seems to have adopted a policy of decreasing actual value to maximize their profit while living off of their name. Orient is continuing to improve their product while lowering their prices and increasing the overall value. I can only assume that, even though both companies operate under the Epson umbrella, they are 2 separately controlled entities with separate leadership.

F6922 *can* be regulated at home for accuracy *under* +1 spd. And yes, Seiko is not owned by Epson - they both are owned by the same Seiko-Epson holding, but operate fully independently.

I wish i could watch this presentation before I bought my Orient RA-AC0K( Triton)..

Sapphire on the orient is enough to make it the clear winner. Seiko is just banking on the Rolex vibe.

I love Kamasu ! Btw, so happy that Japanese watches are liked.

It is not exactly the same bracelet. Orient's bracelet has solid links throughout it, the Seiko doesn't - if you look at them from the side, you can see the "seams" of the hollow links on the Seiko.

I have the Kamasu in blue (on black silicone dive strap). The dial is amazing, the watch is solid & very comfortable to wear. You're right: you must get it!

i love the orient

The kamasu looks more like a classic smaller suit watch on my 7.4 inch wrist, I prefer the sport 5 design but the only 10 bar with push down crown and the mineral crystal is a let down

What is the band you have on the orient? Where can I get it?

The depth of the Seiko seems more appealing (although I have the Kamasu) it's just something about their bezel and chapter ring, the later being recessed that gives Seiko more depth, giving a chunky look of the watch - also, for a dress or EDC tool watch, I'd still choose the Kamasu - the things mine has been through and still in the specs, tells me it's a keeper!! LOL

@@waytoomany9997 I'd say it's doing absolutely fine. I use it once a month or every 1.5 months when I feel the need to reset time. It's not wobblier than any other watch in this range IMHO. Also, screw in and water tightness is like day one.

I completely agree with you. Orient is the better watch by far. Seiko really dropped the ball with their SKX "replacement"

Especially at msrp $285/$235street you can get a better watch all day long with that money. Heck why not go the extra $30 and get a regular dive certified Prospex? At $140 this becomes a viable purchase. I'm not seeing how otherwise.

Every Seiko diver I try on below the Sumo just seems over priced and cheap feeling. Splurge for a sumo, 62mas remake or shogun. But for under 500 Orient is head and shoulders more impressive. I think the seiko to buy on the cheap is the 55 fathoms.

Sooo... my strapcode seiko bracelets will fit Orient?

Kamasu for me, considering the specs, it blows the Seiko 5 behind.

Kamasu watch is a little bit better. Saphire glass and screw down crown is advantage, but other stuffs are pretty similar. The price should be slightly higher for Kamasu about 50-80 euros.

Kamusa hands down. More beautiful and functional 👍👍

How can Seiko replace a ISO 6425 certified diver with screw down crown with this current Seiko 5 iteration with NO screw down?

The crazy thing is Orient Watch Company is owned by Seiko. I love the Orient as my choice between the two.

Seiko Corp : Seiko Holldings,Seiko Instruments,Epson.Each independent from one another. Seiko Watch is owned by Seiko Holldings, Orient Watch by Epson. To avoid confusion, Epson puts his name on the Orient watches. Confusion still exists but people will make a difference eventually ...

Since I am a lume freak guy I def. go for the Seiko.

@@cardojoal Yes they did. The "5 sports" is not meant for you, but for almost everyone else that uses a dive style watch as a fashion item. Because that is what most divers are actually used for these days. For you they have the Turtle ;)

@@oes2546 skx 007 and padi, they are amazing and I tried the orient Ray II too and I have no problem, excellent watches, even when the Ray II is not certified but it works as if it were; When I dive (for fun), I use my watches as backup

I'm not sure what Seiko was thinking. They had a real cult following with the skx and now it's merely a dive STYLE watch. They already have plenty of 100 meter watches ( I love my Bottlecap) so why not have these improvements, better dial, better movement, and keep the 200 meter rating?

Orient because of the thinner thickness. I dont like top heavy watches.

Yes, hardlex is a mineral crystal. Mineral crystals scratch easier than sapphire crystals. Sapphire crystals are next to impossible to scratch.

@@igylan Of course you can shatter saphire like all ceramics. But it is the hardest material you can get to cover uo the dial of your watch. Hardlex is also really good but cheaper. If you see two watches at the same price and one of them has saphire instead of hardlex, Take the one with saphire. You will get more for your money. EDIT: The main thing you should look for in a mechanical watch is the movement. If you are considering a dive watch at a low pricepoint then the citizen promaster has proven to be the best timekeeper.

Not the expensive ones but the entry level prospex with an inner compass rotating bezel. It's too big for me (42mm) for my 6 in. wrist and I fucking hate it 😁. I wish I bought a smaller one. Anyway I have to stop myself from becoming addicted.

@@igylan yes sapphire shatters...and quite easily. It happened to my brother and he didn't even drop it. He just hit the corner of a brick on a house's doorframe. So while hardlex scratches way easier than sapphire, it's more resistant to shattering. It typically will chip if it takes an impact. Honestly I like both, but "watch people" are going to tell you to get sapphire every time. If you twist my arm I'd say get sapphire because of the superior scratch resistance but both of them have merit. There's just a mistaken belief in watch nerd circles that sapphire is superior in every respect...and that's just not true.

seiko looks the better watch and most youthful one. The kamasu looks like a pensioner styled watch. seiko is known for reliable/build quality. only down side of this seiko is that it is not 200m resistence and the rotating things unfortunately does not glow.

And doesn't have sapphire crystal, and the lume on the second hand is on the opposite side of the arrow which in the dark could confuse you

Blue Kamasu is better imo. Green once tends to look black most of the time

Seiko 5 looks so much better than the Orient that I prefer it.

I had a orient mako 2 and i got bored of it after 1 week and sold it . If Orient made the Kano with a sapphire i would take that instantly

Also remember that most people will think SEIKO is more expensive, as not many people know orient. Even my mother recognized the SEIKO, and when i asked her if she knew what ORIENT was, she said no clue.

That's a continuous problem with Seiko 5 only 100m no screw down crown and poor bracelet.

Two words: Sapphire Crystal.

Wow, orient is so much nicer than seiko.

Kamasu has a better feature profile, which includes hand-winding and hacking in an automatic movement. Add on the fact that it's twice the water resistance of the Seiko, has a longer power reserve, includes a screw-down crown, and of course that beautiful sapphire crystal, it absolutely blows the Seiko out of the water. The Kamasu is the ultimate for-value diver's watch. This watch will rival the SKX in popularity soon

Orient’s parent company is Epson.

The Orient is a dive watch with 200 meters of Water resistance… The Want-to-be SKX is not a dive watch… It is a dive style watch ...In my opinion the Orient ties or win in Every category! I hope this 5KX falls flat on its face(Which would scratch the Crappy crystal by the way). Boo Seiko Boooooo...

Nobody is even wearing the big turtles now as a daily wearer. After the hype was gone on the big turtles, nobody is talking about it anymore. Passe. Seiko blew the mini-Turtle as well by putting that hideous round cyclops and they did the same with this Seiko 5 SKX by diluting it but at the same time increasing the the price. Geez.

No comparison. The Orient is better and less expensive.

The bezel on the Seiko in the flesh looks like it was painted by a child. 4r36 is a big upgrade. Hardlex is rubbish in my experience. I would never have another watch with Hardlex. I would rather have hesalite or Acrylic. My Diver is a Seagull Ocean Star. Sapphire chrystal and a Sea-gull 2824-2 high beat movement and a solid bracelet.

Agree! I checked this seiko out at a store... Did not like it and I have many Seikos... The only thing I wish in the Orient, and I have a few, is for the case back engraving to be clearer and more like the Seikos otherwise the Orient trumps...

Is not a good comparison , Kamasu is a diver watch, Seiko5 is a sport watch are totally focus in a diferent market. And the Kamasu is more expensive.

Seiko is better - and cheaper than the Kamasu now. 5 secs a day is excellent - who needs 200 metres? Who needs a lume bezel? Do you need Sapphire (how can you grade a watch as better just because of stuff you don't need)? I bought the classic Seiko 55K1 for a steal at 25% reduction. It looks better and keeps better time.

4R36 isn't made in Japan, but Orient's 672 movement is made in Japan.
