Lyrics:
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life...

@@bjornskywalker6969This world has become cheap and toxic with necessity to live sometimes the only way to survive the harsh conditions you face with bad luck and bad times. It becomes then important for some of us to flee for living a larger life in youth even at the cost of leaving your loved ones where they want to stay. We always think about respecting our society but not about us, ge damn self respect. Then we start loathing ourselves if we haven't done so. Yes it's called becoming selfish. The only easy way to succeed. Green day has a special meaning that turns out to be helpful for people who lost their identity and wasted youth in bad times.

I was the same at 22, and homeless, just completely lost... 30 now, got an amazing little girl, she will soon be 6. Got a job, my own place, a car that is modified in the "rat look" style that I use every day, among other projects and let me tell you this. I never thought I'd make it to 23, let alone have what I have now. Trust me, it gets better. It may take years but, you can make it in life. Even when you think you can't. Music like this got me through some of the hardest times I've ever faced, keep listening. And, I would suggest steering clear of drugs, if you can. Don't make that mistake. They don't help, just escalate your problems. Keep it real. 👊

This song has really taken a lot of different meanings to me as years go by, it was a graduation song, a break up song, a memorial song for a lost friend, a song reminiscing about the past, an anti-depressant when Im having a rough day, and I guess it will continue evolving as time goes by and I enjoy the good times, while learning and growing from the bad ones. All those memories makes up who I am, and for what it's worth it has been worth all the while. This song ages like wine.

It’s so nice reading the comments knowing that this beautiful song has touched so many people and helped through these tough time we live in 👌🏻
Enjoy school while it lasts, even though it seems rough, some of the best memories come from it
This song can mean A LOT of different things, the thing I think it means is that it for someone you've lost who has died, but it can be a girlfriend who broke up with you, your mom who is dating again, really anything you can put your mind into, its such a deep song and I'm scared that I'm gonna cry while i perform this for my entire school, but if I do, I don't care, because I'm a human being, and emotion is a part of being a human, so I would be proud for crying and remember the ones I love :)

Funny you should say, I was watching a green day biography the other day. It said that Billie Joe originally wrote this song after a breakup with a girlfriend (obviously before he met Adrienne) But the song was not released until the "Nimrod" album. The song is basically about how unpredictable life can be, but to enjoy every day as if it was your last. oh, and THIS IS NOT A FUCKING GRADUATION SONG!

So, I'm a 16 yo italian girl. Since I'm 10 I've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but my parents didn't let me.(but i learned piano) This year was one of the worst in my life(I'm not joking) and Green Day (and also music in general) helped me a lot. Finally three weeks ago I started my guitar lessons and yesterday my guitar teacher said "now I wanna teach you this very beautiful song" and he started playing"Good riddance". Now i learned it (only the chords ofc) and I don't know how to describe how I feel...finally I'm happy, not bc of the fact that I kinda learned this song, but bc I reflected a lot these months and I stopped hating on myself. So thank you guys, thank you so so much. Also I was supposed to see Green Day this june in Milan, but next year will be great! Stay safe. Edit: thank you for the likes, wasn't expecting this many!
