Green Day is a rock band renowned for their hits “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Basket Case,” “American Idiot,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday,” and “When I Come Around.” They worked with artists like U2, Ringo Starr, and Miranda Lambert - amassing billions of global streams and inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
Lyrics:
Do you know what's worth fighting for
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I
When you're at the end of the road
And you lost all sense of control
And your thoughts have taken their toll
When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul
Your faith walks on broken glass
And the hangover doesn't pass
Nothing's ever built to last
You're in ruins
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I
Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone?
When it's time to live and let die
And you can't get another try
Something inside this heart has died
You're in ruins
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
One, twenty-one guns
Lay down your arms, give up the fight
One, twenty-one guns
Throw up your arms into the sky
You and I

What's the meaning behind 21 gun salute? The 21-gun salute, commonly recognized by many nations, is the highest honor rendered. The custom stems from naval tradition, when a warship would signify its lack of hostile intent by firing its cannons out to sea until all ammunition was spent.

"Did someone break your heart inside?" Many times. Sometimes it feels like I can't be mended. The thing that hurts most is when people bully you for chasing your dreams. For being who you are.

@@Joshualemay1for sure. I just don't know what that has to do with Green Day? There is a time and place for religious evangelism (I guess?), but, they do seem to spam completely unrelated popular music videos for some reason. Not everyone is Xtian.
When I was around eight, my cousin gave me her old phone after she bought a new one. I remember finding this song on it and I absolutely loved it. Had it on repeat all the time. But when the phone broke, I had no memory of the song title, since I didn't really know English that time. I've been trying to find this song since then, but without success. Today, years after, it showed up in my recommendatios and I couldn't help, but cry listening to it.

My 7th grade history teacher, Mr. K., played music at the beginning of every class. Nearly 10 years later I still remember him playing this song. He was the most chill, supportive teacher I've ever had. That summer, he tragically passed away in a car accident. They later played this song at his memorial service.

It's sort of like methods of measurement. Date formatting is also something subject to the whims and fancies of different cultures. Here in America, we use the MM-DD-YYYY format, contrary to different places, such as many countries in Europe which put the day before the month. In actuality, Americans are the only country to put the month before the day, so different date formats will actually be found to be quite common for us.

I mean, what time in a casual lifestyle would a person shoot someone's foot or something? It's odd. -x=x-x=x-x=x-x=x-x=x- Yes I know you were making a joke, but it was a bad one.

ElectroPix Guns are not just for home/self defense. They are used for hunting small or big game. They are a part of culture now. Some people chose not to have them around because they can seem dangerous but that is their opinion. So please don't come along and say that "It's an american thing".

Forever grateful to the person who introduced me to this song. They made my life complete. I still vividly remember the first time I heard this. It’s forever graven in my mind.
Those that heard this for the first time on the radio see it completely different from those of us that saw the music video premiere on MTV. The video tells a whole story that could never be comprehended through the lyrics.

if anyone feels depressed, broken, confused, trying but tired of everything I dont know what to say but I feel you the moment of sadness when want to cry but the reason is not a valid reason for crying but it still is. when you want to cry but dont want anyone to worry when your parents have high expectations from you but you are failing at everything and even at life. I honestly wrote all this because I know the feeling and pain im just a teenage girl who wanted to express all her feelings here in Green Day comment section YES

Do you know what's worth fightin' for When it's not worth dyin' for? Does it take your breath away And you feel yourself suffocatin'? Does the pain weigh out the pride And you look for a place to hide? Did someone break your heart inside? You're in ruins One, twenty-one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty-one guns Throw up your arms Into the sky You and I When you're at the end of the road And you lost all sense of control And your thoughts have taken their toll When your mind breaks the spirit of your soul Your faith walks on broken glass And the hangover doesn't pass Nothing's ever built to last You're in ruins One, twenty-one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty-one guns Throw up your arms Into the sky You and I Did you try to live on your own When you burned down the house and home? Did you stand too close to the fire Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone? When it's time to live and let die And you can't get another try Something inside this heart has died You're in ruins One, twenty-one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty-one guns Throw up your arms Into the sky One, twenty-one guns Lay down your arms Give up the fight One, twenty-one guns Throw up your arms Into the sky You and I

I can’t explain the feeling I get when I hear this song. It’s such a happy/sad feeling. Life was really simple back then, no worries, no depression, just school, being with friends, good summer times, good music, just being younger- happiness.
