I love how all the members of Green Day are so relaxed like "Yeah let's do this! Let's plow straight through America and have some fun!" and Blink 182 just sits there anxiously wondering if they are good enough and whether they will survive this.

To be honest, it's probably because Mark and Tom know they're not as great of musicians as everyone else. And Green Day was one of their "favorite" bands before they were big. It's no secret that Mark and Tom know they aren't great musicians when compared to other rock / punk / pop bands. I mean, we've seen them slam themselves for years on end about how shitty they sound and play. But ya know what? That's what people do enjoy about Blink. They're honest -- they knew they weren't the greatest (musically). They were just doing what they loved and they did it honestly, which is what made them great, imo.

Mark is such a good person. During the mtv interview, you can see that he’s trying to connect with green day. And he’s also being vulnerable with Billie joe by admitting that the first show was terrible. He’s not trying to be the best one, just trying to be the best version of himself. I just love his authenticity. Everyone needs a friend like him.

This was the funnest concert i ever went to. They were my two favorite bands at the time when i was in high school. Seeing them both on the same night was like a dream come true.

They're two of my favourite bands too! They're the reason I started teaching myself to play guitar. I also brought Tom's Fender strat in surf green cuz it was the best colour in my opinion, I'm wicked disappointed I couldn't go to that concert, but I got to see Blink 182 in 2010 which was amazing, I s have to see GreenDay though

I feel bad for mike he keeps trying to make jokes and nobody laughs and when he makes one good one tom steals it

I feel like these bands was forced to do this thing.. So many awkward moments between greenday and blink182 hahaha Everybody knows green day is great and blink182 just good too.. So yeah it's good to have these two badass punk band

If you watch the Riding In Vans With Boys, it doesn't come off /as/ awkward. You see Billie and Mike interact with Mark and Tom with less awkwardness. The Diary had to cover the tour in 20 minutes, so the first half of Blink / Green interacting that we see, you gotta realize, is when they're all still very new to one another -- so it's a little awkward because they just don't really know one another yet. But in the Riding In Vans With Boys DVD, you get to see a lot more of interactions throughout the whole stretch of the tour between Kut U Up, Blink and Greenday -- and they all have so much fun. And do crazy shit. xD I love it. However, you don't really see Tre much - at all. From what I remember (years ago when this was "new"), he didn't really enjoy Blink-182 or their friends (Kut U Up). But Mike and Billie did.

tensions were high during that tour because green day werent very popular at the time like blink was and really it was Tre who made it awkward for all of them. He has been very vocal about not liking blinks music and they only agreed to tour with them so they could play in huge arenas again and show up blink. Tre is a dick. Yeah his band is more successful commercially and critically but he just became a dickhead. He let the fame go to his head and thought he was superior. Billie Joe and Mike were and still are good friends with blink though

19:06 unfortunately this was a very accurate description of the tour, this happened at the date I attended (6/4/2002). Tactical error to put Blink-182 after Green Day but they were SO much more popular on the radio/MTV at the time

wow sure brings back memories, I will never forget that tour I went to see them both at Madison Square Garden what a night not to forget and I will always say that was one in a life time experience to see a both great bands together on the same bill.

You haven't seen Riding In Vans With Boys, Billie and Mike are just as "immature" and "wild" as Mark and Tom during the tour (more so Billie than Mike). Billie did some drunk skateboarding, participated in shoving various large objects in a Kut U Up members ass, kissed Mark's nipple, Lady and Tramped a piece of giant cake with Mark, threw a giant sheet cake over Mark, and god knows what other shit that I can't remember from the DVD. (Not to mention shit that happened off camera that we never saw). The only really funny thing Mike did was dare someone from Kut U Up to eat bird shit for like $20. And he thought it was funny enough to track Tom down to tell him about it. but yeah...they definitely had their moments. and it was glorious. I kinda really loved all the interactions between Mark and Billie in Riding In Vans With Boys. xD

Massive Green Day and Blink 182 fan listen to all there albums on a regular basis to help cope with my shitty high school experience also like Nofx, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sum 41, Lagwagon, Boxcar Racer, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath etc

You can clearly see that Billie Joe and Mike really got along with blink guys. They are just kinda introverts like Travis. Maybe they didn't became best friends, but they can have a nice conversation On the other side, Tré is the only one that we don't see talking with Tom or Mark. We see Travis and Mark with Mike or Mark and Tom with Billie, but we never see Tré with any member of blink except for the interview in the beginning. It's obvious Tré didn't like them too much
