These guys have real guts! I almost drowned once surfing. My surfboard was pulled down by the wave and got lodged by some rocks. It kept me pinned down with the leash so I couldn't come up to breath. I swallowed a lot of water and almost drowned but at the last moment the board came up. Afterwards I quit surfing and switched mostly to boogie boarding. I've gone back to surfing since but it took a couple of years.

Greatest athletes in the world. Always have been, always will be. What gets me is the seemingly infinite calmness of these guys and gals. But I reckon when one comes to grips with the very real fact that they're trying to respectfully harness the most powerful force on Earth.... It's just a constant possibility that one might not make it at any given moment.
