Yea Kelly's surf ranch well it's now owned by WSL. I didn't think they would replace this event just add an extra stop. Maybe this Fiji spot has been to inconsistent.

Hasn't been on tour in the past because of the politics of the region, probably the reason it got dropped as well

WSL states as much: "Indonesia is universally regarded as home to world-class waves and is a location where the League is exploring long-term opportunities for the sport. While Fiji has been a multi-year pillar of the Dream Tour and we may return in future, appropriate support from the government of Fiji is needed to bring the world's best back to Cloudbreak and Restaurants.”

It’s like the cross wind reminded him of one of his home breaks and his confidence level just went to sick mode.

He got those last two waves in THREE MINUTES! Insane.

Doesn't get any better than that. Owens moments in time. His legacy.

I'll never forget that heat. He never seemed the same after his head injury but man he was definitely one of the best

Owen was always one of my favorite surfers in waves of consequence. I remember him killing it at supertubos before blowing his eardrum out. One of the best barrel riders out there.

Zenagain He has been ripping since last October when I first seen him surfing again, WSL have awarded him a wild card for this year but he hasn't confirmed if he'll return yet.

Wave :2; Not often you see an exit from the tunnel that longer after the spit. And the spit as we call in WA was big. Unusual and very cool. Congratulations Owen I'm sure you forget that view or the sound you heard in that barrel for as long as you live. God bless you mate . Col wa

Do you call it the tunnel then ? If that's your surf lingo the I presume the 'crest' might also feature quite prominently ?

Still here in 2024 and hasnt been a perfect score in a final since! So glad cloudbreak is back on tour this year, i predict jjf and medina final 🙏

Cloudbreak is the shit...really...? Isn't it? It's huge...just absolutely huge...breaks very predictably, like a perfect machine, and it's kind of gentle, literally like a cloud...it has everything...fast, barreling, gigantic, and very safe.mit's the best wave in the world. End of.

Agree, definitely one of the best waves on the planet! Not sure about the "kind of gentle, like a cloud..." bit though, can deliver one hell of a flogging if you're in the wrong spot!

I didn't think it needed a high energy soundtrack as it's about the surfing, plus it's a pretty historic moment so I chose something that gave it scale but music is so subjective. What would you have chosen?

You don't think so? I think the scoring this season in much smaller, far less critical waves has been overly generous, especially in the Challenger Series event at Snapper.

WSL commentators are lame. He claims Wright is "stepping on the gas" when he is clearly dragging both hands stalling and then steps on the gas. I can't stand pro surfing.

Commentary on surfing would be pretty hard. You can't be reactionary and just say "YEWWW!" after the fact.
